I knew coming in that Second Chance was going to be brutal.

It's living up to expectations, with difficult decisions being made every week.

This week was no different. The one "saving grace" of it is that everyone leaving us from this week on will be joining the Jury. Including members of Second Chance. So they might not be in the game, but they *will* be helping to shape the rest of this season.

If I don't already have your address - make sure to send it to me at clauderainsrm@gmail.com so that I can make sure you are on the Jury emails.

So instead of saying "leaving us", I will say "Joining the Jury".

It sounds better and makes it easier.

Our newest Jury members are:

[personal profile] adoptedwriter
[personal profile] flyingsockpuppet
[personal profile] tjoel2
[personal profile] zaichikarky

Thank you so much for coming out. I really appreciate it, and I hope that we will continue to be abe to read your work in the Home Game. (and I'll see you on the Jury!)

The Second Chance poll has been extended by a day. https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1030373.html I was setting the poll for the main competition and realized "I'm not going to be home Friday night!" I could close it from my phone, but I couldn't really properly deal with the results. So I'm going to give them a little extra time. And you - the reader - you deserve to have a little extra time with those entries. You're welcome! ;)

The main competition's poll debuted last night - https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/1030811.html and you should be spending some time there as well!

***

If you've been looking at the math, next week is the last week before the Top 20. Which means it's the last time to use your byes. Which should make next week interesting.

But if you've been paying attention to the math, you also know there's a chance that the Top 20 we're hitting isn't the *real* Top 20. After all, if enough people come in from Second Chance, there's a chance there will be TWO "Top 20"s!

Because of this - I've decided that starting this week, everyone who leaves (in the main competition AND Second Chances - is now part of the Jury! sorchawench and encrefloue are now our first two members of the group who are going to help shape the rest of this mini season!

Grab a seat, a piece of paper, a pen, an abacus, string, a couple of darts and some paper towels. Because you are going to need them.

This is where I usually talk about how proud everyone should be for getting here - but let's be frank, you should know that by now.

The people here are the Top 8 out of a field of 261!! That is saying it all right there! They were 8 amazing entries, and somehow we had to get down to 6 this week! That's not a task, that is a hardcore challenge for people to chose their favorites out of this crowd!

Now of course comes the part where I tell you something you probably already know, joeymichaels used one of his two immunity tokens to save himself. Which means he is advancing to the next round.

What even the Jury didn't know when they were submitting the name of who they wanted to give immunity to this week was that they were in fact handing out two immunities this week! You know, just to make things a little more interesting. Don't worry though Jury, I still have a very interesting duty for you next week!

The two contestants who received immunity were: [livejournal.com profile] java_fiend and [livejournal.com profile] mstrobel!

Congratulations to both of you! That means that those two are safe from the vote as well.

Which leaves us with a field of 5 possible contestants left for consideration, and 2 of them leaving us.

That means that [livejournal.com profile] yachiru is going. . . ah, but wait. . . I have an email right there that says something different.

I have someone who believes in her work so much that he is willing to throw himself on the sword instead!!

Given where we are in the competition - that sort of loyalty and admiration - I will admit that I'm a little at loss for words, especially since there were actually two of those contestants vying for the right to do that for her.

That says a lot right there.

So, we instead say goodbye to her apparent champion, alephz instead.

We have one more to lose, and in true Hunger Games fashion (to be honest, I haven't read it, but I assume this is the sort of thing that could ever well happen) we are saying goodbye to [livejournal.com profile] the_vernacular as well.

Two top notched writers, and people - leaving the competition and joining the Jury, to make the biggest decision a Jury has ever been given!

Thank you so much for everything you have brought to this season!

I would say that it was another "down to the last possible moment" votes that have become a Season 7 staple - but I would be lying. Technically speaking, it was an after the last minute decision, because the Jury still had to have their say on who was to receive immunity.

It another very tight, down to a single vote, selection process, but the contestant that they decided to spare this week actually needed it. Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] nishi_kaze, you have been given immunity and are safe from elimination this week.

You can breathe now.

That does mean though that the person with the next lowest amount of votes will be going instead.

Thank you so much to all the people who came out to support your favorites. I hope that you will stick around to see this thing to it's conclusion, and that you will continue to check out some of the other outstanding writers who are currently competing!!

Unfortunately, this week, we are saying goodbye to 3 of them, and are, in turn, finding out Top 11.

We've been together for a really long time in this Season and I've really enjoyed all three of them. It's very difficult to say goodbye, but fortunately, they will be crossing over to the Jury, to help make future Immunity picks and helping to craft the rest of this season.

I really hope we will be seeing them in the Home Game as well. I'll miss their entries. . . I really need to just go ahead and say it instead of dragging my feet. . .

Leaving us today are three veteran fan favorites and all around nice folks to have around:

[livejournal.com profile] applespicy
[livejournal.com profile] comedychick
[livejournal.com profile] lawchicky
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Before we get to the results - there is a matter of the Jury. They have been charged to, collectively, make the decision who will receive immunity each week. The only catch being, no one can receive it more than once. With so many quality entries this week, and the unpredictability of polls, it's always a challenge to reach a collective decision. How much of a challenge?

This week the contestant who won did so by 1 vote. There were 7 other contestants one vote down from winning!!!

In the end though, the first person to be granted immunity by our Jury was [livejournal.com profile] applespicy! Congratulations!!

That was the good news. Unfortunately, we also have the bad news to deliver. Granted, getting to this point in the competition has got to be "good news" as well. But I know that doesn't stop leaving from sucking.
I know this week is going to upset a lot of people's predictions for the season. On the other hand, the curse of being labeled the "front runner" is pretty much intact.
Today we are saying goodbye to

[livejournal.com profile] beeker121
[livejournal.com profile] joyfulfeather
[livejournal.com profile] tamaraland
and
[livejournal.com profile] team_jessie

Thank you to all of you. I know that we will not be seeing the last of you, because you are now joining the Jury, to help determine how the rest of this season is going to play out!

Wow! What a finish!!!

With the way that poll was jumping during the last few hours, I wasn't entirely sure what I was going to see when I hit "close".

Before we get to that though, I do want to put some people on notice: I'm sure you think you are trying to help, and there weren't enough of them to shift the results, but ultimately the person/people you like are going to be the ones who end up suffering/being cheated.

I don't want to see any more accounts for Harry Potter characters voting. (or any other accounts someone may have set up to write "in character".) If you want to contact me, it's clauderainsrm@gmail.com and we can discuss it.

It's certainly not widespread, but it has been noticed and it needs to stop now before it does cost your favorite their shot. I hate bringing it up (because it brings a distaste to people's mouths, but hopefully the fact that I do have an eye on it reassures people in that same breath), but I dislike the idea that someone thought that I wasn't paying attention. You get what you put into Idol, and I'm quite certain no one wants you to add that sort of thing to their experience. Even if you think you are being helpful. So cut it out.

Now we get to the results:

We established that, with Round Two, regardless of the outcome, it was going to be a sad one. Sure enough, that certainly turned out to be the case.

The four writers leaving us - and the first members of the Jury who will be voting each week to give immunity, are

[livejournal.com profile] basric
[livejournal.com profile] i_17bingo
[livejournal.com profile] imafarmgirl
and
[livejournal.com profile] lilyinchains

Being Jury members, that means they had better stick around, to help decide how this season is going to play out! But I hope that we continue to see them around regardless! Thank you for everything. Getting to this point in the competition is an amazing accomplishment. Congratulations.

A few words from [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm:

Sometimes the biggest underdog of them can find a way to pull things out in the end.

That is the lesson from my laptop today. Barely functioning, it continues to limp forward, sometimes at last minute, toward it's goal of getting everything done. Just when you think it's gone - it finds another burst of energy.

It reminds me of certain contestants over the past few seasons. ;)

This week was all about the Underdog.

This poll is all about eliminating the bottom 3 vote getters. More importantly though, it's about you reading some fantastic entries and supporting your favorites.

Tell your friends. Tell your family. Tell people who aren't signed up on your Friends and Family plan. Tell people who have no plan!!!

Because there is some good reading here, and the more people who know that - the more support (and hopefully feedback) the contestants can receive.

But that's not the only support that is out there. Oh no.

The support of one other group is useful as well. The Jury.

Starting with last week's eliminations, the Jury has been formed (from now until I announce that it's the final Jury week) they will be giving *1 contestant* the much coveted immunity. Each week, the contestants eliminated will become part of the Jury making that critical decision... knowing that a contestant can only be awarded it *once*. :)

Given how very close things have been over the past few weeks, this is worth it's weight in cyber gold.

Immunity will be announced on Friday. The poll will close on Saturday April 24th at 3pm EDT.
Good luck to everyone.

When I looked over the list of the contestants leaving us this week I realized that they were all people that I liked a great deal and wanted to stick around.

But then I looked over the list of people *not* leaving and realized that it was pretty much impossible for their *not* to be a list of people that I liked and wanted to stick around.

Fortunately though, these 6 contestants might be leaving the game, but they *won't* be completely leaving us!!

*Notices the raised eyebrows*

The following 6 contestants have been eliminated from the contest - but are now crossing over to the other side as THE FIRST MEMBERS OF OUR JURY!!!!!

For those who don't know what that means - from now until I say otherwise (heh) - every week the jury will be casting votes handing out immunity!!

From "out of the game" to being some of the most powerful influences on how the contest will play out in one easy step.

That being said, the first 6 members of the jury are:

[livejournal.com profile] baxaphobia
[livejournal.com profile] blueashke
[livejournal.com profile] roina_arwen
[livejournal.com profile] thenodrin
[livejournal.com profile] tsarina
[livejournal.com profile] xo_kizzy_xo

Goodbye - and welcome to the jury!!!!
