Results - Week 5 Sudden Death Write Off

 I knew that, no matter what the results ended up being, that it was going to hit hard. 

I wasn't expecting it to hit quite THAT hard though. 

That is the name of the game though, in the end, everyone is eliminated except one person. Which means that you lose a lot of talented writers during your journey. I guess though since this mini season was small compared to, well, everything... that means that we lose people sooner than I am emotionally prepared for... and probably sooner than a LOT of people are prepared to deal with. 

But, one foot in front of the other... 

Tonight we are saying goodbye to banana_galaxy and unmowngrass 

Both of you will be very much missed.Thank you for making it out to this mini season, I wish you had been able to stay longer!  I hope that we will continue to see you in the Home Game, and rooting for your personal favorites!

Idollists!! I'd like your opinion on a professional writing thing!! I know many of you work in writing or writing-adjacent industries and even those of you who don't will have valuable perspectives here.

So, I am the editor of a beekeeping magazine in Australia. We run, with permissions, articles from American and UK beekeeping magazines. While laying out one of these articles I stumbled upon the realization that this article, by a prominent professor run regularly in a prominent magazine, appears to be entirely plagiarized. 🤯🤯 Its blowing my mind 🤯🤯🤯🤯. Anyone who might be willing to read my entry summarizing the situation and proposed email to the editor of that magazine I'd really greatly appreciate it! I want to make sure I'm absolutely right about this and handling it in the absolute best way so I really want some other opinions!

I confess, getting voted out the same week I was laid off isn't exactly a great feeling, but I also could've put more effort into asking friends to vote for me and I chose not to. I figured, the universe has guided me this far this year, so if I'm meant to go this soon, it's probably because Idol has been distracting me from focusing on finishing my memoir. I could've been writing for that all last weekend instead of reading entries, and that led to me emailing Gary proposing a sacrifice if someone I wanted to stay was in the bottom two, so I was preparing to bail before I was laid off anyway.

Those who continued on both wrote excellent entries, so I'm not going to argue with how things turned out. I did have an idea for this week's prompt, but I'm probably just going to write it for myself rather than home game it.

Oh man, when I last looked, banana_galaxy was safe. The polls are wild and unexpected. I’m sorry to see her go since she’s my friend and I was really enjoying playing with her this season. I’m sorry to see unmowngrass go as well, I could often relate to her pieces.

I normally am second chance idol averse....the competitor in me (I am that guy no one wants to play trivia with) thinks I already beat x person...why do I have to beat them again.

But this season it's weird having so much talent out this soon.

These results are so, so bittersweet. I'm really happy for the two who are staying, but I'm so sad about the two we are losing! I expected banana_galaxy to be in it for the long haul, and I was really enjoying unmowngrass's entries.

I'm going to miss reading both of you a LOT, and I hope we still see you around!!

This is hard! Losing this level of talent so early seems harsh, but as Gary said, it was a smaller beginning pool.

It's inevitable when there are so few people playing in a mini season and everyone's bringing their A game, and some people ask for votes, and others don't.

But you're exactly right, this gives me the opportunity to focus my attention more on my memoir.
