Had a very quiet day with just Momma, Cari and me. Had Honey Baked Ham … it was very good. Hope everyone else had a good day.

I got a cute cat calendar, some tops, pajamas, a small dragon pin (brooch), a new purse, macaron-shaped erasers, the latest (18th edition) of the Chicago Manual of Style, and a few small odds and ends. We had a nice turkey dinner with a chocolate Yule Log (Busch de Noel) for dessert.

The dragon pin sounds so cool. What color is it?

I think Yule cakes look fun buy instead we had a Honey Pistachio cake. I think I would like Yule better. Did you make it?

Sorry for the delayed reply! The dragon pin is metal, maybe about 2” in body length, wings spread in flight. Added: it’s mostly black with some burnt orange on the back section of the wings.

We bought the Yule log from a local European bakery. It’s yellow cake with a layer of raspberry gelee, rolled with a fluffy chocolate frosting and decorated with sugared cranberries and such. It’s very good although a bit more frosting than I prefer (I always take some off).

The Wheel brought me some replacement sewing supplies and a front clip-on light for walking after dark without needing a flashlight. Also a framed paper etching, which isn't an art form I've seen before.

Mostly just a really nice day with the kids, a couple of holiday-themed movies, and some surprise thunderstorms. Plus way too much sugar. :O

We saw Red One last year, and really enjoyed it. :D

I mostly do sewing repairs or make things without patterns. Like, a Christmas tree skirt. Or an L-shaped double-sided fleece blanket for the sofa that covers one arm and goes up the back, to create a washable thing for the cat to be on (rather than having its hair all over the sofa). Or, in the past, curtains or changing table covers.

I used to sew things like skirts, or dresses for our daughter. But mainly, I make atypical things!

I hope everyone who celebrated had a merry Christmas!

The Wheel brought me a digital family calendar to hang on the wall where we can track everyone's activities (though this is more for my husband who conveniently forgets everything), some Texas Longhorn themed pajamas and some gift cards for Starbucks and Amazon.

It also brought Riker "a bajillion cars!" (his words), which we now have to make sure not to trip over lol. So I think that is the chaos part for our family!

How old is Riker? My kids are older so the toys I almost trip over now belong to my dog. She leaves them everywhere!

He's 4, and Ellie is 7, so there are a lot of hot wheels and lego pieces and doll shoes lying around these days lol!

Our dog has some toys too but hers are much bigger and easier to see!

Oh, one of our best Christmases, Santa left our son a lot of "special Matchbox vehicles" in his stocking. We knew the school bus and police car would be a hit, but we were surprised that what flabbergasted our son the most was the garbage truck!

Awwww haha! At Riker's daycare, his class has playground time around the same time that the garbage trucks do their pickup at the places across the street, and the kids will just all stand by the fence and watch them work. They LOVE the garbage trucks.

Actually, I should get him a garbage truck matchbox vehicle! He has some construction ones that he loves but no garbage truck.

Garbage trucks went to the using the automated grabber shortly before our eldest was born, so both our kids LOVED garbage truck day. I'd be upstairs dressing our daughter on her changing table when the trucks would come, and we would just pause and watch them do their thing.

I forgot, we DID also get some construction vehicles. Mainly, the backhoe and a steam shovel. Our son liked those too. Really, that was an awesome Christmas for Santa. :D

Fair enough, and understandable. Not everyone has good (or any) associations with Christmas.
