The comments lately have been a ghost town, and I won’t lie, I get sad about that. But then I read the entries like these, and all of the other entries from the last few weeks and I have that moment where I’m still feeling good about what is happening here - there is still a vast amount of talent on display, people just aren’t commenting on the community itself. Which, that happens. Would I even mention this if I wasn’t on cold medicine? Probably not. :D But whooo hooo that I am… and “not whoo hoo” that I am…

These entries though, I can’t say enough good things about them, so I’m going to leave that to YOU, the voters. Read the entries. Comment on them. Vote for your favorite(s) - then tell people about it! Let them know what you have read, and what you love about it!!

One of these two is coming to the end of their road, just a couple steps from the finish line. Which is tragic that one of them won’t get into the Final 4. But it would also be tragic if one of the others weren’t in it, so that’s just the nature of numbers I guess! You can’t have 5 people in 4 spots!

I've been checking in on the results and every time I looked, they were a little different. That teeter totter of death kept moving, finally landing on... you guessed it, a tie.

Which means we another Sudden Death Write Off! This time between

erulissedances and

littlebitofearth (We came within a SINGLE VOTE of half the field being in a Write Off)

It is an Open Topic, which means you can write whatever it is that you want, as long as you bring your A-game. This is the difference between the Top 5 and falling a short. But it is also an opportunity to get a little more attention just before that final sprint to the finale!! So use it wisely.

The votes are in. Honestly, I was expecting a last minute push that didn't come this time around. Maybe the world is a little too distracted at the moment. :(

I said it in the actual poll comments that regardless of who left, it would be a huge loss to the competition and that's definitely true.

It's also a huge gain to keep the other one!

Reid - thank you so much for coming out this mini season. I feel like this time around, because of the "mini" nature of this event, you were able to get (proportionally of course) more attention for your work. Maybe that's just me... but it feels that way. Hopefully it's true, because you definitely deserve it!

I hope that we will see you Home Game the remainder of the season, and hanging out to cheer on your favorites with wherever this thing is going next!!!

I kept checking the results over various points today and it looked pretty obvious what was about to occur... until it didn't... which should be the theme of this mini season.

Had it occurred, that would have been extremely sad. But what ended up occurring is also extremely sad. There is no path forward that is not paved with bricks of sadness.

We came into this week knowing there would be two contestants leaving us.

I get it - you miss me and figure the one way to make sure you see more of me is to have a constant tie-breaker round!

You could just try emailing me instead! It's much easier on everyone else. I might actually respond. (Probably not right away, unless it's on the bus, but I will eventually respond to it!)

I knew that, no matter what the results ended up being, that it was going to hit hard.

I wasn't expecting it to hit quite THAT hard though.

That is the name of the game though, in the end, everyone is eliminated except one person. Which means that you lose a lot of talented writers during your journey. I guess though since this mini season was small compared to, well, everything... that means that we lose people sooner than I am emotionally prepared for... and probably sooner than a LOT of people are prepared to deal with.

But, one foot in front of the other...

There was a tie and four contestants were thrust into a Sudden Death Write Off, one more entry, one more round to break out of the pack.

It came one vote away from being a three way tie. Three votes from being a four way tie again.

If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about how close things are this mini season, I'm not even sure I can articulate it more clearly.

But those votes DID show up, so two of them are moving forward, and unfortunately we are saying goodbye to two beloved veterans. One is the youngest contestant. The other isn't the oldest, but if it was that would at least be amusing. So let's pretend she is! :)

I'm really hoping that we will see more from both of them in the Home Game, and continuing to hang out and root for their favorites!
