Welcome to the official sign up for Survivor: LJ Idol.

In Survivor terms, this is the casting process! :)

But unlike a SEG production, this is going to be a short and not complicated process. No intensive interviews or physical and mental health screenings. (We know everyone here would fail the latter one)

Step 1 - send an email to me at clauderainsrm@gmail.com letting me know that you are interested in participating.

Step 2 - I will respond letting you know if a space is available and where to send the $10 donation. (PayPal or Venmo are available options) You will have a reserved spot in the game for 24 hours. After that period, if nothing is received for you, your spot will become available.

Step 3 - You are signed up.

There are a total of 32 potential spots. I have no idea how fast (or slow) this process is going to be. I want to have an even number though, for equal starting tribes.

Currently there are 21 available spots of this “experience of a lifetime!”

NOTE - If you want to play, but are not able to give the $10 (I’ve been there plenty of times. Pretty much most of my life, so I completely understand) - 2 Patrons have donated their spots. So the fee would be waived. Contact me at the email above.

Most of the people seeing this post are going to already be familiar with Idol and what is going on here.

Just in case someone sent you this link and said "You should sign up!", here's a rundown of what's going on:

This is LJ Idol: Literary Prize Fight. It's a "pop up" of the online writing competition that usually takes place over on Livejournal.

I will post a "topic" (it's basically a prompt to use as a launching pad to take it wherever you feel like taking it). You write something over at your own DW/LJ/Open Source blog. Then you post it back to that topic post before announced deadline.

Then there is usually a poll (unless it's a special week, but let's get to that some other time) and people vote for their favorite entries. The ones with the fewest votes leaves and the rest fight it out another week. Eventually there are only a couple contestants left and they fight it out to decide a winner! In this specific mini season, there is a twist where there is actually prize money that is going to be split between the Final Four!

Which brings us to Second Chance. Maybe you were one of those people who were previously eliminated. Or had to drop out in a previous round.

Perhaps you are someone who, as I said, just received a link from a friend or acquaintance who suggested that you sign up! This is your Second Chance to correct that mistake of having missed your shot to sign up at the beginning!

This specific post is for one purpose only - for you to sign up to play!

Go to your space - your DW account/LJ/Open Source blog and post something about how you want to sign up for Second Chance Idol. That's it. You can literally just post those words.
Then come back to this post and put a link to that post in the comments!

That's all you need to do. The first topic won't be until Wednesday, December 26th. There will be a thread marked "Topic 1 - Second Chance Idol". It will also be tagged, if you are the sort who subscribe to tags. (If not, just show up on that day and look for the post)

I had said that Season 10 would start "at the end of October", and this is the final day of that month - and I just realized that today is the two year anniversary of when I found out that

agirlnamedluna had died. Which means it's the most likely time for her to breach that veil between worlds and sign up for a new season! ;)

I guess it's time to get this ball rolling!

Here's how it works:

Post something on your LJ (or whatever you are going to use for Season 10) stating that you will be participating and then post a link to that notice back to this thread!

It helps spread the word, and gives you practice linking to the comment thread. (Note: this thread is for links only.)

One change from previous seasons, if you are a newbie - please say so when you link. We're going to have a purposefully slow start this season (you'll see why) and that's information I am going to need early on!

What I DO have is the Sign Up Sheet for the final season of LJ Idol.

Right here. You have a chance to be a part of that.

It doesn't matter if you've signed up for every single season or have no idea what LJ Idol even is, but your friend said it was cool, so you're trying it out. You are here, and I am extremely grateful to see you! I hope we are going to have a fun time.

But before we get to any of that, we start with the Sign Up itself!

All you have to do is go to your LJ/blog/whatever it is you are using and post something about signing up. It can literally be "I'm signing up for LJ Idol" and then paste a link to that post here in the comments section.

Please, only post that, any other comments can go to the Green Room (which is going up a few minutes after this goes live!) Save me some time deleting extra comments, and let's get started on the right foot. Once we get to the weekly topics, you are going to be linking your entries in threads much like this one, so this is good practice!

I haven't actually been subtle about it. But I wanted to make sure people picked up on the fact that tonight was THE NIGHT.

Second Chance Idol sign ups start NOW.

So if you missed out on chance to sign up back in October, or if your time was cut far too short, now is the time for you to jump back into the action of Season 8. Now is the opportunity for you to have one more chance to get things right.

Contestants in Second Chance Idol will have the chance to get back into the mix.

So, tell your friends - tell your family - spread it far and wide, anyone who wants to get into the next to last season of LJ idol has one more shot to do so.

Simply post a statement of intent in your own livejournal, and link that entry back here to this thread.

Why wait a moment longer?

I was going to post this over the weekend - but let us get the business at hand.

There have been imitators, but there is only one LJ Idol. What it is, what it ends up being, during the course of a season, is so much more than the sum of the parts.

Veterans know this. Newbies are about to find that out.

If you came for our penultimate Idol experience - If you came for a writing challenge - if you came to make friends - or were just curious/bored and couldn't help yourself -

This is the official sign up sheet for Season 8.

To become an official contestant, it just pretty straight forward, just post an entry on your own LJ declaring your intent to participate, and link it back to this thread.

(It's good practice for what you will be doing the rest of the season, and it's a way of getting the word out about Idol at the same time!)

Two steps.

Step 1: Post in your LJ that you are signing up for LJ Idol.

It's a slight change from last time, but it gives you practice doing what you will be doing for the rest of the contest - posting a link from your LJ to this one.

Sign up will be open until I say otherwise (at least until the start... which is the first Monday of the first full week of No - the 5th I believe that is.)
