What was your Favorite thing the Great Turkey brought you yesterday?

(What do you mean "What's the Great Turkey?" He comes into your house on Thanksgiving Eve and leaves presents and fully cooked feasts for all the *good people of the world*. Well, maybe *that's* why you don't get visited....)

***

What's your Favorite thing in this week's poll: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/809247.html ?

Heck, what's your Favorite thing in our Amazon store: http://astore.amazon.com/li0cd-20 ?

What are some of your Favorite books (that you think we should add to the "Other Books You Might Enjoy" section, for others to check out)?

Or you could always just type in your Favorite number into that Paypal link from yesterday. :P http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/809887.html

How likely to do you think "Favorites" is going to be something that shows up sometime soon? ;)

Frist.

I've never had Turkey.

*Worries that 'favourites' is going to be a worrying twist.

Writer-brain: I saw a chair on the pavement on my way home. And my mind instantaneously came up with a complex story involving a chair being passed from house to house on a road, and when someone not on the road tried to take the chair they would mysteriously disappear.

Never had turkey? Are you vegetarian?

Pescetarian, like a vegetarian, but also eat fish :).

I only became pescetarian when I was 13, but we didn't have Turkey for Christmas, just curries.

I've never had curries, so I guess that makes us even. ;)

My writer-brain began filling in events that happens in the middle of my NaNo -- along with a key scene or two in the book that comes after it.

Of course, it was filling in these gaps while I was at work and therefore couldn't write a damn thing. BUT NOW I KNOW SAVIN PUNCHES MITCHEL IN THEIR INTRODUCTION TO ONE ANOTHER.

And that, right there, is what makes the world go 'round for me. I figured out why Savin despises the man without ever having to get to know him (hint: Jazz lies and drops Mitchel's name instead of someone else's), and why Mitchel has completely written him off as useless (Savin punched him! FOR NO APPARENT REASON TO MITCHEL -- he didn't know Jazz said HE had done the unspeakable thing instead of the truth).

And this punch is instrumental in some of Savin's breaking down a few years later in their time-line!

(I swear my brain torments me with this when I'm at work BECAUSE I am at work).

Ooh, that sounds like some awesome plot development :).

Ah, muses are fickle in their fickleness.

It's awesome, but annoying, because muses and their fickleness, as you said.

I have 7.5k I need to write between now and 11:59pm on Sunday and I work tonight and tomorrow night, 12a-7a. I CAN DO THIS.

Except I don't think I'm getting any writing done today unless I kick my own ass into gear (heh). That's what, 3750 words in two days? I can do this, I can do this, I can do this...

(It helps I have no small child this weekend)

Thanks. :) There's at least another 30k of words left in this particular story, but, the goal is 50k. ;) December is for finishing it. :)

Never had turkey before?

My married kid found a bench on the side of the road once. The paint was bad but the bench was ok. She took it home and has it by her fire pit! She and her hub painted it blue and it's adorable now. They call it " Trash Bench". AW

I've never had turkey, either. Not a vegetarian, just they're not common in New Zealand (and I grew up poor).

Still reading the poll, so can't say as far a favorite as yet. I think I've got 25-30 to go.

The Great Turkey provided me with such a wonderful feast! The only thing lacking was actual pumpkin pie, because the cousin brought a pumpkin bundt cake instead. I made a new recipe, one of Rachael Ray's, for Butternut Squash Mac 'n Cheese and it was delicious. You can't really taste the butternut squash in it, I think it mostly just adds color. :)

The link to the recipe is in my journal, but here it is again:

Enjoy!

As far as things go with the family and the feasting and whatnot, my son superficially injured himself in a very me-fashion. Yep. He is definitely my child. =p

I have a whole thing of my Aunt's sweet potato crock pot recipe thing and it is so amazing and I could eat it forever but I'm going to eat all of the pie/cakes we took home instead, first, because I want to savor that sonofabitch.

Meanwhile I am being a "good" sister and baking a pumpkin pie for my brother though I'm not so sure how it'll turn out because I've literally never made a pie before. (I cheated and got a premade crust because I knew I would not have the energy for that after working midnight 'til 730am.)

I may be biased here but my own book, Akin to the Truth: A Memoir of Adoption and Identity is the item to buy!

Hope everyone had a happy one. I had a school parent make rum cake! It's like being in the islands, mon! AW

Yesterday, the Great Turkey brought a calm and mellow Thanksgiving for which I'm thankful. ;) And I have leftover pumpkin cheesecake for breakfast!

Still reading entries!

Still reading entries too! Glad to know you had a lovely mellow Thanksgiving! :)

I made leftover Crescent Roll roll-ups for breakfast - a bit of turkey, a slice of dressing, and a smidge of "Canberry" sauce all rolled up into a crescent roll - yum!

canberry sauce! hee. i admit i've never had the canned jelly, but man, i love how it looks, ridges and all. the roll-ups sound yummy.

We love the jellied cranberry sauce - since it comes out looking like the can, we just call it "Canberry" sauce. And the ridges make great cutting lines, LOL.

Even during non-Thanksgiving / Christmas holidays, a thin slice of it is awesome on a turkey sandwich!

(And the rolls ups, while a bit of a pain to put together, were delicious!)

Yesterday's Great Turkey brought us lots of travel time, but also great company and a chocolate cream pie that was to die for. First real sugar splurge since September, so back on the wagon now, but damn-- it tasted chocolatey, instead of like that artificially-chocolate stuff you get at diners/restaurants/the frozen food section. Wow.

I was hoping for more Black Friday cyber-buys today, but looking through the amazon toys to donate for kids... meh. The current crop of toys is too merchandise-based and boring. Not enough "play" in the playsets. Where's the mondo multi-construction-vehicle playset I bought last year, huh? Huh?

ETA: also, am I the only one who looks at a toy, like a deep-sea diving ship with a creature inside, and thinks, "That could be weirder..." ?

the great turkey brought me so much food yesterday i had to go lie down so as not to hork all over the table. (no, seriously. i couldn't even finish my last dessert! and i ALWAYS finish dessert!) my parents and sister and i are on a mini-vacation in vermont, so we had thanksgiving buffet at the inn where we're staying, and it was SO GOOD but there was SO MUCH.

the dessert i couldn't finish was a maple mousse in a martini glass with bourbon jelly at the bottom, and it was so phenomenally tasty but by that point i'd eaten pretty much everything i could fit on my plate - and i made three trips to the buffet - i'd saved the mousse martini for last - that i just couldn't put the last bite in my mouth. i had a pecan pielet but no pumkin pie, but also i made pumpkin bread with chocolate chips on tuesday, so i felt like i'd gotten in my thanksgiving pumpkin baked good already.

(the stuffing was good but my dad's stuffing is better.)

just thinking about turkey is making me hungry.

i'm also still reading entries (and finishing my nanonovel >.< ) (on vacation) but [livejournal.com profile] suesniffsglue's entry is adorable.

My favorites from this week (http://kickthehobbit.livejournal.com/699551.html) are already up. :D

As far as favorite books, I keep a running list of what I recommend to people. It's here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gG-jO0h1az4yG9eP8zoR9lA0lyuu4byNN97G6qBNVs4/edit?usp=sharing). :)

The Great Turkey brought some kind of stomach bug to our house. Trip to Washington postponed in light of the partner being sick all day yesterday, but I'm gettin' stuff done around the house and I didn't get sick, so woo. :)

The Great Turkey brought me a much needed bit of time away from home with dear family. And a ridiculous amount of food. We ate blue crab and stone crab and lobster that my dad and brother in law caught this summer and then followed that with Thanksgiving traditional foods. And I'm getting caught up on my idoling, which feels fantastic. Dang but there are a lot of impressive writers in this thing. I need to go to bed, but there are entries still to read.
