Green Room - Week 27 - Day 1
May. 11th, 2012 10:06 amIt’s the start of Week 27 in the internet version of the Trail of Tears or Bataan Death March!
Which may sound like an horrible and inappropriate comparison, until you start hearing people talk about how long “27 Weeks seems to them”! ;)
Then it would sound like an understatement! The best thing about it though is that it’s voluntary! Which just makes it extra cruel and twisted! People actually sign up for the treatment!! :D
What I find interesting about this current field – well, one of the many things that I find interesting at least – is how people match up. Once in awhile, someone will break out of the top of the pack. But then they will eventually fade back into the middle as someone else surges ahead.
Some of that is buoyed by the two Topsy Turvys that are out there. But you saw it even before they were.
This is working into a season where I can look at the field and not be entirely sure who is going to have what it takes to the prize this season! Which is exciting!

In case you missed it, the results from last week came out last night, and we said goodbye to an old, and new, friend: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/566646.html
There is a new topic: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/566865.html
And of course, a new Work Room: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/567222.html

Date: 2012-05-11 05:29 pm (UTC)I have a pretty strong idea, but nothing written yet. I've had the ones that have to be written before -- unfortunately, they are frequently not compatible with the topic. ;)

Date: 2012-05-11 02:20 pm (UTC)I think that at this stage, you never can tell who could win it. Anyone can take home the prize even if at times it doesn't look that way. It's all about surviving because Gary always has twists and turns to make sure it's unpredictable.
I have two ideas, one that
Yesterday was a bad day mostly because of work. Evil One sat in my boss's office and bitched about me, I heard snippets. I'm a sensitive person with low self esteem as it is, always thinking I can't do anything right and trying to convince myself that's not true. So hearing myself bashed behind closed doors (I'm sitting right next to his office and she was screaming, so not like I was trying. I was trying to block it out) just tore me down. Other stuff happened too that played on my insecurities and I overreacted which doesn't help. Just a sensitive day.
I have a half day today and an interview. I need to nail this third interview and need them to offer me a salary I can live on so I can get out of the abusive work environment I'm currently in. So wish me luck!

Date: 2012-05-11 02:36 pm (UTC)Hubby and I and our Roaming Gnome will be heading out to visit another ghost town up near Santa Fe today, along with a movie studio tour. Yesterday on our way here we visited Meteor Crater - 50,000 years old, 550 feet deep, and 4000 feet across. We also went through Winslow, AZ and took a photo of one of the Wigwam Motels along the way, which had 1950's vintage cars in front of the wigwams. It was very cool!

Date: 2012-05-11 04:11 pm (UTC)*shakes fist at LJ*
Anyways, I was saying I had up to four possible ideas for this topic, which is way more ideas that I normally have. One of those ideas was even nonfiction, which was weird as I'm like 99% a fiction writer and enjoy writing fiction so much more. I did have fun with my nonfiction Gatekeeper Week entry, and I liked my nonfiction idea for this week. One of the fiction ideas just insisted on being written, possibly in a "write to get it out of my brain so I can write the nonfiction" way or possibly in a "this idea is meant to be" way. We shall see!
My fiction idea takes place in the serial world I'm currently working on. That world seems to like attention as I keep writing in it! :P

Date: 2012-05-11 05:04 pm (UTC)I'm going to see The Avengers today. Iron Man is the only Marvel movie that I've seen, but I expect to enjoy it anyway :) Then, I think I might start on a Home Game entry. I've barely written anything since my elimination, and the Home Game will be a good way to get going again.

Date: 2012-05-11 05:21 pm (UTC)I have epilepsy that mostly manifests as simple seazers and I am always spasmy in bed.
With the exception of two weeks while on the med that the neurologists tried before the depikote I have always twitched and spasmed all night. But I had to go and breakout in hives from the good anticonvulsive.

Date: 2012-05-11 05:21 pm (UTC)I haven't started on my entry yet. I generally don't start until Sunday. It takes me a while to figure out what to write about and then to get past procrastinating and putting it off. Well - I don't know. Sometimes it feels like the cruising the web and stuff is part of the creative process, like keeping my conscious mind occupied while my subconscious figures stuff out.
We will be going to the used bookstore today to see the kittens! :) It's where we adopted Luna, our youngest. We don't have room for any more, but we like to drop by and see any kittens they get and sometimes I buy stuff from the "kitten fund" shelves, to help their rescue efforts.
Also I wanted to share something I wrote on Facebook last night. :) It's about ya'll.
I am so thankful for all my new friends in my writing contest thingy. It's a group of intelligent people who are able to talk about issues and differences without getting into flame wars, even when some of us are pretty emotional *clears throat*, and I feel like it's really helping me open my mind and see other perspectives and have a better understanding of people who grew up in more restrictive environments than I did. I may not be incredibly privileged as society sees it, but as I learn about other people I'm realizing that growing up as free and loved and accepted as I did was a great privilege, and like all privilege it blinds me to the reality and suffering of those who did not grow up so free and secure. Thank you, Idol peeps, from my soul.
