Voting - Week 22

A few words from me:

A house divided.

Divided between two topics to be precise.

That is what we have here, and the reason that this poll exists - to determine who will advance and who has reached the end of their journey.

It has been an absolutely incredible journey so far, and it is showing all the signs of just getting better - as the writers themselves seem to be, pulling out some absolutely stunning work this week.

But loss is the nature of the beast, and we will be losing 2 contestants from each tribe, for a total of 4. Which means, when the poll closes and the results are formally announced, we will have reached our Top 15. Thinking back over the course of the season it seems unreal that we have actually reached this point, and yet - here we are, with further to travel.

So let's get to it.

As always (but apparently some folks did not know this) vote for your favorites, selecting as many of them in each poll as you like.

The poll will close on Saturday Feb 28th at 7pm EST. So read the entries and make sure that your favorites get to stay in it!! I've said it before, and I'm sure I will say it again, word of mouth is the best form of advertisement. If you see something you really enjoy, and want to see more of it, make sure other people go to read it too! (and as always, comment on the entries! Feedback is always a good thing. Also - don't forget to tip your waitress!)

I just posted a comment over at chite's that I thought would be appropriate to post over here as well. It was in a discussion about how the whole "it's popularity" is rather insulting to previous winners and their writing. Which is, quite frankly, a pretty good way to get my boot shoved way up your ass.

It's, obviously something that I think a great deal about. After all, people show up and compete here for 6 months (or more) stretches of time. I don't have that luxury.

Of course no one else has the honor and privilege of saying they have such a wonderful community either. So in some ways it pays for itself.

It does mean though that I have a clear agenda. I rather specific agenda, one that I am not shy about sharing: I want the best winner possible.

Who will that be? Looking out at the 19 currently assembled I can honestly say that it could be any of them. Each has their own strengths that I think would be a nice addition to the winner's circle.

That said though - there what I posted:

"I just hope whoever wins this season actually *appreciates* it.

I don't know why anyone would bother investing their time and energy *over a period of half a year of their lives* if they weren't getting something rather significant out of it. Seems like a waste to me."

I just hope that whoever does end up winning this season is someone who truly appreciates the experience.

I only have 1 vote, and I vote for everyone. (mine is always, or almost always, the first vote - that way no one has to look at a poll and see their name without any votes) There's only so much that I can do to make them hope into a reality.

The rest of it is up to the individual contestants on what sort of experience they want to have for their half a year investment, and ultimately the voters.

I really think it is anyone's game at this point. I do have my prediction as the winner, but to be honest I think everyone here has their own special talent when it comes to writing. I feel like over the past 6 months, I have gotton to meet so many amazing people, and read snippets of their life - some that maybe even their close friends don't even know.

I agree, I hope that whoever does win really does appreciate it! Although I am pretty sure him/her will. Writing every week under pressure for 6 months straight is not easy. :)

Kassi, I wish you hadn't felt the need to leave over this...whatever this was. I really am lost as to what's been going on here the past few days and the campfire girl/cheerleader in me wishes we could all just hug it out and move on without actions that reek of a rotten finality.

Your writing and your character are strong enough to have at least made it to the Top 10, if not all the way.

Whatever you do...don't stop wrting.

No worries. I'm not going to stop writing. But, no matter what happens, I answer to my morals first and that's why I made the decision I did.
