All good things come to an end.

Even Season 6.

But you still have a chance to make a difference in the outcome! http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/375570.html

***

Apparently there were a couple birthdays over the last couple of days - so Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] zia_narratora and [livejournal.com profile] darkprism. It seems appropriate with the latter given that she was in the finals last season and that the former was someone frequently mentioned as a contender to get here herself.

TODAY happens to be the birthday of Season 1 semi-finalist [livejournal.com profile] lebonheurbum who battled it out in a pitched back and forth, with tie-breakers coming into play, finally receiving third place. Given the status of that final poll, this seems especially fitting.

It's apparently ALSO [livejournal.com profile] walkertxkitty's birthday as well!!

So Happy Birthday - and belated birthdays - to all. And Happy Birthday to everyone who has a birthday over the next few months while we will be away!!

***

Settle in for the day, raise a glass to the Finalists, and let's have one more Green Room before we need to move everyone out of here and into the Banquet Room down the hall. (Giving [livejournal.com profile] kithan a chance to pressure wash this room. It's gotten kind of sticky!!)

***

Hope everyone is doing well.

This season I set myself a goal for attempting to write something about everyone who was eliminated from the competition. They started out being a couple paragraphs and in some cases ended up getting fairly long and detailed (at least in comparison). It was my first time even attempting something like this, and obviously some turned out better than others - and I ended up falling way too far behind. Real life showed up on my doorstep (or rather I showed up on it's) over the past couple of weeks and stopped me from doing the level of work that I had originally planned on doing. But I still want to say something.

So we are back to somewhere between the couple of paragraphs and the longer pieces. I apologize. But it was that or nothing and figured people would rather have the former. If you want more post-season email me and I'll see what I can provide.

Until then though - YOU, the people reading this - tell us what YOUR favorite pieces from them were.

It's official.

It came right down to the wire, just like everyone was predicting that it would. Breaking refresh keys all over the world.

The winner of LJ IDOL SEASON 6 is [livejournal.com profile] beautyofgrey!

Second place goes to [livejournal.com profile] rattsu who put up an EXTREMELY fierce and worthy battle all season long.

Congratulations to both of you.

Thank You

Craig Finn, the lead singer of the Hold Steady has something that he says almost every night just before the last song.

He admits that it's cliched, but also that it's true.

The first time I heard him say it, I liked it. The more that I've heard it though, the more that I realized that it fit my experience with LJ Idol as well.

" THERE IS SO MUCH JOY in what we do up here!"

Idol brings me joy, each and every day, and I hope that some of that joy made it's way into your life as well.

Thank you so much to all of you for taking the time, and expending the energy this season, to continue to make this such a special experience.

It means more than you can ever fully know.

Dreslinski Out.
