There were a few moments when I was trying to recall if there was any precedent for *everyone* missing the deadline. (I decided that although that exact situation hadn’t happened, that there was an rule I could use for the situation. That’s one of the advantages of having a decade to draw from!)
As it turned out though, that wasn’t needed. Idolers, as ever, just like to wait until the last possible second. Maybe it’s because they want to perfect their entries. Or maybe it’s just because they like messing with me. (I know what my guess is).

Unfortunately, magazhchi ended up missing deadline which means they are leaving us. (Hopefully not for long though, because Second Chance sign-ups are still open! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/981280.html)

For those who remain, there are three spots and two of them are moving forward.

The only thing that is making it OK for me to be saying goodbye to 2 of these people is that I can point them to the Second Chance sign-up sheet and hope they will take my advice.

My favorite part of a Write-Off is that it is a spotlight on folks who may have fallen off the radar. There’s no “I didn’t have time to read everyone”. In this case, there are literally three short entries, if you don’t have the time to read them, you probably didn’t have the time to click on the link to see this post! ;)

My least favorite part? That we will be saying goodbye to some of them.

In this particular case, there are three contestants, and only one spot left in the competition for them. Which means two of them need to go… fortunately, the sign-ups for Second Chance have started, so I hope we will see them there. I’ll admit it, I *personally* really hope that we will see them there, because these are three folks I’ve been enjoying reading this season and knowing that two of them are going is only cushioned by that hope.

Who that person is, who will be moving forward, is entirely in YOUR hands. So read the entries and vote for your favorites!

They had 24 hours to write, in order to stay alive in the competition.

Week 5 had ended in a 3-way tie, and the only way to settle it was with the ~~blood of innocents~~ ~~pistols at dawn~~ a good ol’ fashioned Write Off!

Unfortunately, one of them did not make it to the starting line. Which means they are automatically eliminated. Goodbye to thepheenixeyri. Really sorry to be losing you like this.

Thank you for coming out for the season, and I hope we will see you mount a comeback in Second Chances.

As for the two remaining contestants - there is only one spot and two writers who want it!

Which means it comes down to the will of the voters.
