My week is going well so far. Currently doing copy editing on the next boys adventure novel in the lineup. Amusing whoops du jour:

I keep poll watching, and it’s frustrating that I’m not doing better in the polls, because I thought my entry this week was very strong. Sigh.

I attribute it mostly to summer vacations and the like. Hopefully, I'll be able to be more active, now that Otakon 2025 has wrapped!

I always forget about summer vacation. That's a rare and short thing, now that our kids are grown. We have one coming up in a week and a half, finally!

Regarding activity, I'm definitely feeling the tomb vibe as well. Of course, I did most of my reading/commenting before the poll went up and voted early, so that probably has a lot to do with it. Still ...

It does seem pretty quiet in these parts, but I think that's the journaling platform in general. Although, lol, I'm not on other platforms so who am I to say!

Summer feels OVER out here in NorCal! Weird. But I'm not complaining after the horrorshow of last summer.

We never really had summer. So much rain! Good for the farmers, good for their crops. Everything's so green and lovely, but...Summer?

Highs around 100 are due in a week down here, so summer definitely doesn't feel over to us!

Though the legions of squirrels running in front of my bike is at an epic high for the year, so THEY definitely think it's Fall.

They get more focused about it as we move into September. But also, the other source of mayhem is all of the new babies chasing each other around on the pavement and such. They get slightly smarter as they get older. But not much!

These are the ground squirrels, of course. The tree squirrels are a different, smarter species. :O

My week's going pretty well. I read and voted early, so now it's just refreshing the poll and waiting for final results.

Today, I'm working on a Powerpoint presentation for work, and periodically screaming at Powerpoint for being so frustratingly difficult to use. In the afternoon I'm meeting with another coworker who will help me insert pictures on the slides, because apparently you sighted peeps don't know how to just read/interpret text. (smirk)

Work is insane right now. One of the insurance companies that one of my firms works with just found out that I do surrogate's work, and they do not care for the attorneys who were handling their surrogate's work. So they're sending it over to me case by case. Every day it's like.. oh there's another 1-2.

I did settle a personal injury case today, which is good, and I won a motion on another case. So that's two cases off of my list and about eight knew ones to take their place.

I have seriously begun wondering if I can sneak off on a short trip later this month. It's unrealistic but it's a nice dream!

Today, I was hunting around for something to eat for lunch, and found some southwest eggrolls in the fridge that were slightly past their sell by date. They didn't smell off, so I threw them in the air fryer, and they tasted fine. Now I'm wondering, did one of Gary's wheel minions get me?

From an Idol perspective though, I don't think people are knocked off until a new poll is posted, so I should be able to write at least one more entry, unless of course the current poll gets me.

Hey, I'm here to help. :-)

I think it also depends on how many byes you have. If you've got two byes left, the poison will eat up your byes first, then kill you. So, if you were poisoned last night, if you have 2 byes, you would not croak for 3 weeks... unless you get the antidote and save yourself.

That's my understanding anyway, which could be totally off the mark.

Agreed. This was also a really fun prompt. Reading entries, part of the fun was trying to guess who someone would choose to re-imagine, although my guesses were pretty much always wrong. LOL

When making my choice of which post to reimagine, I consulted my handy spreadsheet. It had to be an entry that I voted for, which narrowed the field. Then I looked at which prior topics I liked best, and went from there.

Ooh, good morning GR Wheelhouse!

Most of my social media across platforms is relatively dead. So is my work. This is the time of year that many families take their last ditch vacations before school starts. In some places school has already started :boggle: I had a discussion about tariffs with a customer the other day where I told him that agricultural products are, so far, exempt, but the cost of transportation is what's driving up the prices. But yeah, there's so much less traffic at work now compared to this time last year that I have several coworkers who are fretting about being laid off.

Between that and the current heat dome I've been blaaaaaaaaaaaaah :p
