There were two contestants leaving us this week -

Which is why (of course) there is a 4 way tie!!

That means banana_galaxy  gunwithoutmusic  strryeyedgrrl and unmowngrass  have until Wednesday August 14th at 8pm ET to write a new entry (Open Topic, so it can be anything they want) and link it to the thread below.

That's an intimidating group to be in!!

Good luck to everyone!

 *mass chaos ensues*

OK.  There was a lot of things that just happened.  It might take everyone awhile to unpack.  I know there is someone who wants to say something, but that sort of thing has to wait.  Per Survivor rules, now is the time to voting.

I'll go tally the votes.

*comes back a few minutes later*

Well, this is certainly been an enlightening tribal council, in a number of ways.   Just a reminder, it this vote also ends up as a tie, we will go to rocks.

Let's see what else there is to learn...  Once the votes are read, the decision is final.  The person voted out will be asked to leave tribal council immediately.  I'll read the votes.

*opens the lid of the urn and pulls out the parchment*

First vote

1 vote uselesstinrelic.

Next vote...

2 votes uselesstinrelic

3rd vote (of a possible 6)

2 votes uselesstinrelic  1 vote bittyjane

4th vote

2 votes uselesstinrelic. 2 votes bittyjane    2 votes remaining

*comes back from commercial*

*pulls parchment from urn*

3 votes bittyjane.  2 votes uselesstinrelic  1 vote left.

*pulls vote out of urn*  *looks at it* *slowly turns it over*

The third person voted out of Survivor: LJ Idol and the newest resident of Edge of Extinction is  [personal profile] bittyjane

Bittyjane, please bring me your torch.

The tribe has spoken.

*snuffs*

Head on down the path to where the boat is waiting to take you to Edge of Extinction, where you will get the chance to get back into this game.

*shots of bittyjane walking down the path*

*turns back to tribe*

There is one unfinished piece of business here.   Unfortunately,  since it was brought up during the vote, it could not be handled until after the votes were revealed.  It sucks. But it's the nature of the game.

[personal profile] uselesstinrelic

has also made the decision to leave the game, and has opted NOT to go to the Edge of Extinction.   Please bring me your torch.

The Tribe definitely did not speak on this matter. But I'll respect your wishes.

*snuff*

*lays torch down next to the fire*

There will be a chopper waiting to pick you up to take you back home.

*shots of uselesstinrelic walking away*

*turns back to the tribe*

You thought you were going to be down 2, but found a way to be down 3.   This is very much a tribe in crisis.  But this is Survivor, you never know what is coming around the next corner.  You just have to keep fighting.

Head on out of here.  Goodnight.

A few words from [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm:

They had 24 hours to write, in order to stay alive in the competition.

Week 5 had ended in a 3-way tie, and the only way to settle it was with the blood of innocents pistols at dawn a good ol’ fashioned Write Off!

Unfortunately, one of them did not make it to the starting line. Which means they are automatically eliminated. Goodbye to [livejournal.com profile] thepheenixeyri. Really sorry to be losing you like this.

Thank you for coming out for the season, and I hope we will see you mount a comeback in Second Chances.

As for the two remaining contestants - there is only one spot and two writers who want it!

Which means it comes down to the will of the voters.

Read the entries. Comment. Vote for your favorite(s)!

They wrote these in dire circumstances, and deserve your attention and affection. So go show them some love!

You have until Friday, Jan 20th at 10pm EST to cast your votes and decide who will be staying, and who will be joining the Home Game.

Good luck to both of you!

On an internet that no longer has Television Without Pity, seeing people leave us this week makes sense.

It's still bad to lose someone, but between that and our inferior television cousin doing so poorly that they have a 1/2 hour results show? Yeah, losing people is one more factor in the coming End Times.

[livejournal.com profile] ashgaelsonaria
[livejournal.com profile] phoenixsansfyr

Two veterans, will be leaving us tonight. Thank you so much to both of you, and I hope we will continue to see you in the Home Game. The good news is that somewhere along the way, there will be a chance to win your way back into the competition!

We also had TWO TIES, in the even numbered tribes. For those folks, there will be a special "Redemption tribe" where they will be placed as of next week, to redeem themselves and fight to stay alive!

[livejournal.com profile] kagomeshuko, [livejournal.com profile] kotenok_angel, [livejournal.com profile] sonarvampress and [livejournal.com profile] tjoel2 - We will see you in the arena!!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
We are saying goodbye to one person today, and throwing four more into a do-or-die situation. Or perhaps a do *and* die situation…

[livejournal.com profile] favoritebean is leaving us, to (hopefully) join the ranks of the Home Game.

You had a fantastic run, and please don’t forget to send me your 5 picks of things you are interested in from the Community Chest!

There were two people leaving, which means that the four-way tie for that second spot is going to be handled by a run-off.

[livejournal.com profile] agirlnamedluna
[livejournal.com profile] padf00t
[livejournal.com profile] the_lettersea
[livejournal.com profile] x_disturbed_x

will have until tomorrow, Tuesday August 27th at 9pm EDT to link their entries back here.

The topic is My Rival

Have fun!

[livejournal.com profile] x_disturbed_x has sacrificed, officially finishing in 9th place. The run off is canceled, and we now resume our regular topic selection, already in progress.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
What an amazing turnout!

People have been asking if this was “some sort of record” for number of votes, and the answer is “yes and no”.

It’s a record for how many people showed up to vote, however the record for how many votes a single contestant received still stands. And yes, you guessed it, it was in Season 4. :)

I’ve taken a look at the votes, and before I say anything else, let me just say that I was shocked at what I saw.

Why? Because, with numbers like that, you expect to see a whole lot more hijnks than actually occurred.

There were a couple people who double-dipped with Twitter and/or Google Plus accounts. (Oddly enough, facebook didn’t seem to have a problem. Or at least an obvious one.)

I think it’s an example of how most people, when given the chance, are going to side with their better angels. However, there’s always going to be one or two... and in this case, those one or two did end up affecting things.

It wasn’t major, and I’m absolutely certain that no one set out to do anything wrong/encouraged it, etc... but there is enough of a question mark that I want a run-off.

[livejournal.com profile] notodette and [livejournal.com profile] whipchick - you are through to the next round. Congratulations.

[livejournal.com profile] n3m3sis42 and [livejournal.com profile] pixie117 - You will be in a run-off. It was close enough to almost be a tie anyway. So, it’s close enough that I’m sure neither of you want this decided by someone who just got a little too “supportive”. You’ve done too much, and worked too hard for that.

Your topic is Making Fire, an appropriate tie-breaker! I’ll post a topic thread here in a moment, link your entries there by Tomorrow, Wednesday August 22 at 9pm EDT.

Good luck to you both!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
What about those 13 people at the bottom of those polls?

You are asking it. I know you are.

I said that I wasn't eliminating them outright after all. Obviously, something else is happening.

Who are those contestants in question?

[livejournal.com profile] applespicy
[livejournal.com profile] beeker121
[livejournal.com profile] cheshire23
[livejournal.com profile] comedychick
[livejournal.com profile] ecosopher
[livejournal.com profile] ellakite
[livejournal.com profile] locknkey
[livejournal.com profile] ravenshrinkery
[livejournal.com profile] supremegoddess1
[livejournal.com profile] tamaraland
[livejournal.com profile] theafaye
[livejournal.com profile] yachiru
[livejournal.com profile] wyliekat

For the sake of easy explanation, let's just call "Round Two" a tie-breaker for all the people who were at the bottom of their respective polls. Because of the twist, they ended up at the bottom of their group, in terms of votes, but now they have a second chance to correct that.

Those 13 will take one of the two topics that they did not write on originally http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/454553.html and link that entry back here by, Monday May 2nd at 7pm EDT.

From those entries there will be eliminations.

Have fun!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
On one hand, today we are saying goodbye to [livejournal.com profile] tough_doll and that's a sad thing.

On the other - I get to point out that she made the Top 50, because I know there were times early on when she definitely didn't think that was possible. Which makes me glad that I do get to have a post that singles her out. She deserves it.

It's strange, because even with the field narrowed down the extent that it has been, there are people like her that I personally believe have been doing some really interesting things all season long and haven't really gotten the attention.

Obviously she did get some, because look at where we are! But I think there is something really special in the entries.

If you get the chance though, definitely go back and reread her entries from this season! I think you are going to find some stuff you might regret missing the first time around.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
A few words from [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm:

It's a mixture of veterans and newbies and they have one thing on their mind - surviving to the next round.

Well, I'm sure they have other things on their minds as well. But let's face it is "living their life" really as important as surviving until the next round? Of course not. What a silly idea! :D

They revved themselves up like a deuce and took a run at the tie-breaker.

Now it's up to you to decide who is going to make it to the promised land.

The poll closes tomorrow Tuesday, April 12th at 9pm EDT. One of these four will be eliminated when does.

So make sure to take the time to read them, comment, and of course vote!

Good luck to everyone!

[Poll #1729159]
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Livejournal is a harsh mistress, and not in the way that people are willing to pay a little extra to receive.

In a series of ups and downs through the last week, it is has been rough going just to keep our heads above water and keep track of what is going on.

It's one of the problems with a site like this, sometimes it doesn't work as well as we would like. Sometimes we spend more time hammering our heads against wall than we can spend actually reading and enjoying ourselves.

Which is a shame.

Sometimes you play the course and sometimes you get played by it.

Thank you to everyone who braved the waters and kept trying until they got their votes in, and let their voice be heard over the chaos.

The second tribe was created to try to avoid automatically eliminating anyone caught in LJ's trap. It made things a lot more difficult, but hopefully it helped a little.

However, LJ did seem to aim at one particular household.
Both
[livejournal.com profile] diagenou
and
[livejournal.com profile] walkertxkitty
were eliminated from the Late Tribe.

In the first tribe, we are losing [livejournal.com profile] soprano1790.

At this point any elimination is going to be brutal. Seeing those names just reminds us of that.

There is a tie-breaker among the other folks currently tied for that second spot.
The contestants who will be battling it out?

[livejournal.com profile] beldar
[livejournal.com profile] joyfulfeather
[livejournal.com profile] roina_arwen
[livejournal.com profile] tough_doll

You have until tomorrow, Monday April 11th at 9pm EDT to link your new entry to the topic thread below.
The topic? Another Runner in the Night.
Have fun!

We also say goodbye to the Topsy Turvy that has been in play, and Hello to the Top 50 that we have officially passed. Congratulations!

Goodbye TT. For now. ;)
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Call it what you want - temporary insanity, a bout of mercy, trying to get some good karma built up before my appointment tomorrow, a fiendish trap of some kind - but we had a run off scheduled and it’s not happening.

amorphous-mess's entry has him officially revealing his “true ID” and stepping off the mat. Which, for the record, is a move that I completely understand and respect.

The other two got in well in time, and with some revealing entries of their own:

ellakite 's entry
redvelvetgrrl 's entry

Does that mean there is one more competitor in the running than was originally scheduled? Yes it does. Sometimes that happens. Today is one of those days. I’m sure I’ll find a way to make you pay for it later. :D

CHECK OUT those entries though. Comment on them!

I’m pretty sure you are going to agree that you wouldn’t want to send either of those two home either. Granted, at this point it’s difficult to send anyone away. But I don’t know, today just didn’t feel like their day.

Congratulations you too - and thank you ‘Mess. I hope we haven’t seen the last of you.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
It was another tight poll in another tight week.

Reading through the entries this time around, I figured that was going to be the case, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

People are always going to have opinions. It's what they do. Go around having opinions on stuff. But I think everyone who has made it to this point in the competition should be proud of themselves and the work that they have put out.

Five people were leaving us this week, which means that there needs to be a tie-breaker.

Leaving us today are

[livejournal.com profile] a_cheese_fan
[livejournal.com profile] maizing_grace

and
[livejournal.com profile] faerie_spark

Two of the three there I don't have to hope they will be sticking around. I know they will, in other forms. :)

I hope they continue to explore the worlds they created under these IDs though.

That does double for the non-alt of the bunch! :)

The tie breaker this week is between

[livejournal.com profile] amorphous_mess
[livejournal.com profile] ellakite

and
[livejournal.com profile] redvelvetgrrl

Your topic is Call. I will be providing a thread below for you to link your entries back by tomorrow, Sunday March 27th at 4pm EDT. Have fun!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
I apologize for the delay in posting. It was a combination of wanting to triple-check (given how close/back-and-forth the totals were and more to the point, because opportunity came knocking right after I hit "close". Opportunity in the form of an old friend who volunteered to set up a computer connection for me. :)

Everything got done, but between those two, I couldn't post before now.

Today we are saying goodbye to [livejournal.com profile] yako. Not sure what she wants said, and what she doesn't, but I think that the evolution from Second Chance contestant to full fledged Idol contestant was a remarkable one and well worth people giving it a shot on going back to read if they missed it the first time.

I know she will be around, in one form or another, but I hope that [livejournal.com profile] yako herself continues to Home Game.

Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] copyright1983 - now get to work on this week's entry!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Being this close to the Top 75, you can feel the tension in the air. We are starting a new phase of the game, and things are tight enough already.

The evidence of that is this tie-breaker and just how close we were to having more of them.

I think there is an amazing amount of talent that comes out each and every week, and it's no surprise to find that the general public seems to be having a problem picking a favorite! That's a good thing! :)

Today though, we only have two choices - and they both are familiar faces. Both of them came in this season from Second Chance.

As usual, the poll is going to be up until tomorrow, Saturday, March 12th at 10pm EST! The entries have been in for a bit now, but I wanted to get it as close to 24 hours - while still giving a nod toward a little extra time, so here you go!

Read the entries. Comment on them - and vote.

Your vote will determine which individual will be moving on and which is out of chances. *cue dramatic music*

[Poll #1716788]

Excuse me, I need to go watch "Ressell" Hantz cry again now. There's something that is just so fundamentally satisfying about that.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
With the Top 75 close enough to touch, things were bound to get interesting given the remaining special powers out there that had not been used to this point. After all, that is when they expire!

So pull up a chair as I explain what has happened. You might need one.

[livejournal.com profile] cheshire23's "Back in the Game" token given to [livejournal.com profile] roina_arwen.

So welcome back Ro! That also means that Week 17 is the final week to use byes and all but one of the special powers. (I think everyone knows which one that is)

In Tribe 1 we are saying goodbye to a long time veteran and a relative of a beloved veteran and a second generation contestant who has more than made her own mark:
[livejournal.com profile] hammaboo
[livejournal.com profile] marjory

That's two of the three.
The third? Well, that's a little more complicated:

[livejournal.com profile] myrna_bird uses her "Immunity for Someone Else" token to save [livejournal.com profile] maizing_grace. Considering that she used her own "immunity token" to save another player not long ago, it seemed that gesture has come full circle to save her this time.

This creates a Tie-Breaker for the Final Spot between former Second Chancers [livejournal.com profile] copyright1983 and [Bad username or site: yako" @ livejournal.com]. More on that later.

In Tribe 2, it really does show that it can be any given week, as we are ending up saying goodbye to someone who was "Very Safe" in the Last Contestant Only Vote, and another contestant that wasn't too far away from that category herself:

[livejournal.com profile] dakotawitch
[livejournal.com profile] phoenixejc

For the third and final elimination, we have an unusual situation. You are sitting down right? Things go all topsy turv... oh, no not the special power!! Just the situation itself. It's kind of "odd".

Earlier in the week, seeing what she figured was the "writing on the wall", [livejournal.com profile] tigrkittn sent me instructions to make sure that I knew that she wanted to use her Personal Immunity if she was in danger. It turned out that she was.

So, since she has used her immunity, the person with the next lowest votes is the one going home. In this case - [livejournal.com profile] dizzy_writing.

Saying "Thank you" to all of the people leaving really doesn't go far enough. Over the course of the season (or seasons in some cases) they have all produced some really cool stuff. Hopefully everyone takes the time to let them know that.

But the week isn't over yet, because we have the TIE-BREAKER between [livejournal.com profile] copyright1983 and [livejournal.com profile] yako!

The Topic is Full House.

The deadline to link it back to the specially marked thread below is tomorrow, Friday March 11th at 10pm EST.

Have fun!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Elimination days are bad days.

Sure, you are happy for the people staying, but saying goodbye to someone isn't easy.

Especially when it is

[livejournal.com profile] abutterflykissx

I'm not sure what is going to be said, or who is going to say it, but it was a really fun run.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Both entries are in. They are two writers that I like a great deal.

I have had a fantastic night, and we are celebrating the start of a new season of Survivor!

So of course we are. . . going ahead with the poll.

That shouldn't be much of a shock, although I did hear some chatter after the break I gave Second Chance. Planned breaks are one thing, unscheduled ones take something pretty big to come up.

We have two talented writers and one big decision, deciding who is going forward.

The poll will close tomorrow Thursday Feb 17th at 10pm EST and we will find out.

Good luck to both of you!

[Poll #1705917]
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
During the course of this week I went back to see if all Week 13's had their rough spots.

Maybe there is something to the superstition or just maybe that's just a point where things get a little intense.

At any rate, I had a feeling that we would end up with another nail-biter this week, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

Especially since not one, but TWO of the remaining IMMUNITY TOKENS were played this week.

In Tribe 1, [livejournal.com profile] ckocher had one. Which saved her from going into a tie-breaker.

Unfortunately, that means the other two contestants have been eliminated.

[livejournal.com profile] greenfernway
and
[livejournal.com profile] majesticarky

In Tribe 2, the immunity token was played by [livejournal.com profile] roina_arwen to save herself.

Which means that [livejournal.com profile] awriterswindow has been eliminated, and there is a tie-breaker between

[livejournal.com profile] abutterflykissx and [livejournal.com profile] phoenixejc

The Topic is Calling Your Bluff

The deadline for the two of you to link your entries back to the specified thread (below) is tomorrow, Wed Feb 16th at 10pm EST. Have fun you two!

As for those leaving us this week - as soon as SCI is officially over, there will be a Home Game thread. I hope to see you there, and around the Green & Work Rooms. After all, you never know what is going to happen next - and there are still a couple "back in the game" tokens floating around!
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
The tie-breaker is over, and that means that we will be saying goodbye, this time to fan favorite [livejournal.com profile] creature_girl08.

Tie-breakers are always difficult, with short turn around time for both the writer and for people to get out and read a piece.

Thank you so much to you (and I trust that we will continue to see your stuff in the Home Game) and to everyone who came out to help make such a difficult decision.
[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com
Real life has shown up on the doorstep of [livejournal.com profile] foolishfiddler in the past 48 hours. She notified me earlier today that she wouldn't be able to get in an entry, and thus was forced, by circumstances, to withdraw.

Which means that [livejournal.com profile] phoenixejc moves forward this week.

You can read her entry: http://phoenixejc.livejournal.com/94684.html

The other match up though is very much on!

The poll is open until Thursday Feb 3rd at 9pm EST So make sure to read both, comment, and pick your favorites!

Good luck to both of you!
