[identity profile] clauderainsrm.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] therealljidol
I apologize for the delay in posting. It was a combination of wanting to triple-check (given how close/back-and-forth the totals were and more to the point, because opportunity came knocking right after I hit "close". Opportunity in the form of an old friend who volunteered to set up a computer connection for me. :)

Everything got done, but between those two, I couldn't post before now.

Today we are saying goodbye to [livejournal.com profile] yako. Not sure what she wants said, and what she doesn't, but I think that the evolution from Second Chance contestant to full fledged Idol contestant was a remarkable one and well worth people giving it a shot on going back to read if they missed it the first time.

I know she will be around, in one form or another, but I hope that [livejournal.com profile] yako herself continues to Home Game.

Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] copyright1983 - now get to work on this week's entry!

I won't be home gaming until I get voted out under this account :P

For those who aren't on my friends list and thus are likely unaware, [livejournal.com profile] yako was my second account in the main game. If you checked when the account was created, you might note that [livejournal.com profile] yako was actually my very first LJ before I switched to this one :)

Thank you to everyone who supported my writing over there. I re-started that account for Idol for two reasons:
a) I was concerned I was going to get voted out earlier than this point and I wanted a backup
b) I wanted to at least use some of the prompts to write more children's stories about "Penny & George the penguins" for my eldest son. Read my SCI re-introduction post to find out where they started (http://yako.livejournal.com/8070.html).

I'm curious now, would anyone be interested in me moving the types of things I wrote over there to my only remaining journal in the competition? I have more photos from family trips to the US I wouldn't mind sharing, and I'm considering writing another Penny & George story at some point, too. I still had a lot I wanted to write there that I probably won't share on this account, but that's how these things work, I guess.

I also wanted to publicly thank [livejournal.com profile] theafaye for all the helpful advice she provided me for the majority of the non-fiction pieces I wrote under [livejournal.com profile] yako (I think Nimbus was the only non-fiction piece I wrote there I didn't ask for her feedback on). I could not have done that without her.

Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] copyright1983. You were a worthy opponent in this tie-breaker, and in other circumstances, I would have voted for your entry because I did like it.

Cool to use your very first account like that. Well, you are still here and we just need to keep it that way. Grin!

I was surprised I remembered the password, it'd been so long since I'd logged in there!

Yeah, I'm thankful I'm still in the game at least. This whole thing made me realise I do not wish to face another tie-breaker situation!

Wow, if I'd known I was going up against *you*, I would've been more nervous than I already was!

Still, that was a great battle--as Gary alluded to, the lead changed hands several times in the final hours. (Not that I was, you know, obsessively refreshing or anything.)

Off to come up with another entry...

LOL as flattering as that is, I'm not sure I deserve it. Most of the race was very tight!

I couldn't sleep from 4am to 5am. I had tracked your journal to see if you'd request help, and then freaked out when I discovered you did. From that point forward I knew it was going to be a race of who could drum up the most support :P (I'd rather not have to go through that again! I mean, clearly I don't have enough friends since I lost haha)

So yes, I was obsessively refreshing, too XD

I'm lucky I still have a bye... I'm *very* tempted to use it, let me tell you! I'll probably still write something, though I am a little thankful I'm not going to feel the pressure of writing two. I would have though!

You are most welcome!

It was always going to be a hard fought tie break - both entries were really strong. Sorry to see yako go, but congrats to copyright1983 for winning through to write another day.

Yeah, I can't be too bitter about going out because he did have a very good entry to compete against. It was clear that the voters agreed about that even before request for votes was asked by either of us.

Wow, I had no idea it was you. It always amazes me that anyone finds time to write under more than one account.

I liked the children's stories.

I'm not sure how I managed to find the time for it either, to be honest, but it was fun!

It was a little difficult posting some of the nonfiction without giving up my identity, to be honest. I tried to stick to stories that I haven't really told too many people about, but even then, I had to be vague in the tie-breaker entry (had I named Australia and Malaysia instead of being non specific, it would have given me away). And with the photos, I figured I've changed enough since the childhood pictures that people who didn't know it was me weren't likely to recognise me.

I'm glad you liked the children's stories. As I mentioned, I'm definitely tempted to try that again under my main account!

Sorry to see your [livejournal.com profile] yako alt go! Personally I loved your Penny and George entries, as well as the other more recent ones. I think the fact that you did so well through SCI and the main game demonstrates that others thought so too.

Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] copyright1983!

Aww, it's okay! I can just move those sorts of things over to this journal now. I was thinking of re-posting them here (backdated) anyway so I can link them amongst my Idol reference post and make some things friends only so I don't have to link them to another journal and keep them public.

Just because people won't get a double dose of me every week now doesn't mean they won't still get to have the same things I could've/would've written there. :)

I'm really glad people liked Penny & George so much, though! Because that's something I was seriously considering publishing at some point.

Congrats to copyright1983! What a surprise to me to learn of the alt situation for yako. I keep forgetting that somebody may be writing on more than one account.
