Green Room - Week 1 - Day 1
Oct. 1st, 2018 09:30 amThe new topic is up: https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/998324.html
***
Literary Prize: "A literary prize is an award presented in recognition of a particularly lauded literary piece or body of work. It is normally presented to an author"
Prize Fight: "A prize fight is a boxing match where the boxers are paid to fight, especially one that is not official"
You have stepped into the ring to compete for the ultimate literary prize - the title of Winner. In addition, as you know, there is also a matter of the Community Chest Purse, which is currently up to $ $263.59! (with Matching up to $500!!) https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/995415.html
There will be good times, and bad times. There will be knock outs and standing 8 counts. There will be matches determined by points because no one wants to fall over, defeated.
Hopefully though, there will be a lot of fun!
At least that's the plan!
Oh, and a ton of writing! That's always a guarantee.

Technically, the Sign Ups were closing today, but I am going to leave them open until 1 hour before the first topic deadline! https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/996363.html So hopefully, we can get a few more people in here! Keep spreading the word!
***
A special thank you to our Patrons, without them I would not be able to continue this crazy ride!
Also - thank you to Von Cloedt of the Adobe and Teardrops Podcast http://adobeandteardrops.libsyn.com/
He was the one who created that boxing image that we are using (with Shakespeare knocking out Hunter S Thompson). I came up with it in my head months ago, not knowing how to pull it off - and he was the one that was able to step in and make it a reality)
So if you love it - thank him.
If you don't - it was totally my idea. So blame Canadians!

I'm looking forward to seeing how this thing plays out! Thank you so much for coming on this journey with me!

Date: 2018-10-01 02:46 pm (UTC)If we reach 100 contestants, a 3rd bye will be added. But that's not looking likely.

Date: 2018-10-01 05:52 pm (UTC)I have no idea what to do with this. I'm sure I'll figure something out, though. Usually do. :)

Date: 2018-10-01 06:08 pm (UTC)Now I have "Blame Canada" stuck in my head.
Work Room - thread(?)
Date: 2018-10-01 07:46 pm (UTC)Any thoughts on the prompt so far? I'm stuck on "giving up", what the idea of it looks like. What do we define as "giving up"? Is acceptance the same as "giving up"? Hmm.
Re: Work Room - thread(?)
Date: 2018-10-01 09:21 pm (UTC)I'm also trying to decide between non-fiction and fiction.
Re: Work Room - thread(?)
Date: 2018-10-01 09:29 pm (UTC)For whatever reason, I'm thinking of this horrible essay I had to read in college about Sisphyus...some creative Googling tells me it was by Camus, "we must imagine Sisphyus as happy"...because he never gives up at pushing the boulder up the hill?
It's got me thinking about the things I've given up on, and how that might translate into fiction. I'm leaning fiction this week to push myself. What way are you leaning?

Date: 2018-10-02 06:14 am (UTC)The problem is I can't relate to any of the above :p Let's see. Will keep checking this thread for more ideas :)

Date: 2018-10-02 02:56 am (UTC)Yay! Thinking already about the topic - so many ways I could go with it. Work has been so hardcore lately that I'm exhausted, but excited to get started on this. I miss writing just for me.
