Where did you get your start?

What was that first impulse (that you can recall) when you realized "This writing thing is FUN"?

Because that's what it's all about isn't it? Having fun.

That's why I started writing - and through a series of paths and projects, and outright needing something to keep myself busy, that's how I ended up starting LJ Idol. Because it's fun.

Where did the fun of writing start for you? How do you manage to replenish it day after day? Year after year?

Admittedly, it's kind of weird talking about how much "fun" writing is when we are fast approaching the most tense time of the competition. But really, I think that's when people need the reminders to *not* sabotage themselves with stress, that it's all about having fun.

(and of course winning!! :D)

***

One person who *doesn't* have to stress out this week is [livejournal.com profile] jexia, who won the Quick Fire http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/827595.html and has immunity in this coming poll.

Everyone else? Aren't so lucky. But then again, only one person is going to end up winning anyway - so *write what you love* and submit things *that you feel good about*!

Maybe I'm not the best person to give you advice. I put my foot in my mouth plenty of times, completely sabotaging my own goals and I'm often stressed out about things that are mostly out of my control. But that doesn't stop me from continuing to hobble on, or worry. ;)

I just try to remind myself to take a step back now and again, get some air, and hopefully get to a better place, where I can see the *fun* again. That's when I know I'm back heading in the right direction.

Your topic is DUE at 8pm EST: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/826357.html 1/3 of the current contestants already have their entries in! (Which shows how few contestants are left! :D)

Btw - my html was made of fail last night. Allison's editing service can be found at Unkind Editor

Well, I think it's got a shot. Flippant response notwithstanding, the Exhibits pull in the sort of crowd that wouldn't normally sign up for a full Season. (Hi!) And I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge that some folks will sign up and complain anyway. ;-)

I think it could go a lot of ways. (Same teams all season? Changing it up? Intersections required, preferred, meh? Trading of players? Elimination of full teams or lowest vote-getter? Is the finale like the RuPaul All Stars' season, where the teams are broken up for the last round?)

No matter how you spin it, it would be Very New and Different. And I think *that* would entice some folks.

When Fantasy Idol comes out, I fully expect CGR (Complaints per Green Room) to be a trackable stat. Edit: Along with HBI (Hippies Batted In) and FMA (Foot-Mouth Average).

Depends upon who's in the draft and who (and how many) people get to make selections. (See, this would be a good time to make a spreadsheet!)

I think [livejournal.com profile] whipchick, [livejournal.com profile] lrig_rorrim, [livejournal.com profile] bleodswean, and [livejournal.com profile] talonkarrde88 would be amongst the very first to be selected.

[livejournal.com profile] eternal_ot, [livejournal.com profile] sorchawench and [livejournal.com profile] emo_snal would be on my immediate list of sleeper picks ... I think they'd go early and everyone else would be kicking themselves for not selecting them first. But it's hard, with so many strong writers and competitors here, to rule anyone out!

Basically, what Gary said. I'll just qualify that we're being even nerdier than usual. (And that putting your name out there was meant as a compliment.)

If be up for team playing although it might depend on how large the teams are. Also it might be interesting if there was a team captain who was the ringleader / coordinator for each team if there are more than two per team. And woukd the contestants be self picking their partners or would you randomly assign them? Might be good to have a mix of vets and newbies, etc.
