There are some who say "Well, it doesn't count for anything!"

It counts for *you reading something cool*! It counts for you being able to legitimately say "Man, I LOVED that entry! What were they thinking????" or maybe you will be the one who will comment to the entry and a Gatekeeper will read it and say "You know what, they have a good point!!"

So really it's all in your hands right now!

(Well, OK, it's still not "in your hands", but there's always larger forces of voters out there. This is just another version of that.)

I'll be totally honest and say I'm like 99% sure I'm going home this week. xD I wrote weird, writer-meta and my sense of humor is dumb and I know it. I loved writing the piece, though, and it was a nice "break" from those characters (even though I wrote about them for Idol. Again. Despite my better judgment!).

But I work tonight so I'll be asleep when results go up. Hopefully the news won't have any impact on my night at work, either way. xD

I was playing around with Zazzle this morning and made a "LJ IDOL is why I drink" flask.

I didn't "make it available" because it would be over $30 and I know there are people who have struggled with alcoholism among us. But it amused me, and thought the *idea* might amuse some other people, so I figured I'd share.

So, I do a lot of presentations during the course of Day Job Which Shall Not Be Named. While getting up the courage to stand in front of an audience still takes Effort (to this day), it's so much better once I get going. I can see their faces, see if they're nodding along (or nodding off), can tell if they get the humor, get the point.

Sometimes, though, I do web conferences or phone presentations. Those are a lot harder. I can't get a feel for how I'm doing, if they even care, if they're even still on the line. I could just be talking to myself, for all I know. I have to steel myself to go on ... instead of getting easier, it gets harder.

So, if I feel utterly doomed wrt tonight's poll, it's because I have no concept of the Gatekeepers as an audience or if my entry's even close to working.

I think the blank anonymity and silence is what makes Gatekeeper rounds so nervewracking. There's no knowing what they're thinking, who they are, hell HOW MANY ARE THERE? It's... knowing those things wouldn't necessarily help, but the mind wants data!

As with most Gatekeeper rounds, the amount of commenting by other Idolers is really low. That's always kind of sad!

I'm doing my darnedest to read/comment on all the main entries, though I might pass the 'deadline' tonight. Work has been insane, but I'm about halfway through? -ish? \o?

I'm having a very hard time staying online! I just wanted people to know that! I have been reading though. :-) As usual I am awed by the originality and strength of the writers in LJI. If there aren't any comments from me, I apologize.

Oh and I truly did think that because it was Gatekeepers, we peons weren't supposed to comment, I don't know which to blame it on, newb mistake, age, or being addle-pated to begin with. LOL

Finished the reading. Am now debating the Killing Floor, as I don't know if it's fair to go through with concrit when everyone was required to submit something. I may just do the people that I know want it.

i read "fish the tree out of storage" and for some reason pictured a christmas type tree UP A TREE, like it got blown into a maple during a storm, and you and your roommate had to get a ladder to get it down.

It's 2:30 and I'm finally sitting down for a bit... it's been a busy day (mostly with Other People Stuff, but still busy). I renewed my license at the DMV, ran some errands, took the boy to the doctor, ran some more errands, did chores... I'm tired now. Heh. But the house is looking nice for Birthday Shenanigans this weekend, so that's good.

I have read about half the entries on the topic post and commented on... um... roundabout none. I need to get on that. I was busy in the Killing Floor yesterday, but I think I'll shift my priorities a bit today.

I think we are all in terrible danger. That's what Gatekeeper weeks do to me. Congratulations, Gary, you've heightened my paranoia.

It's not like it's a bad time for me to be in serious trouble. I'm rolling into Finals week and need my wits about me if I want to grade two thousand some assignments. However, I still want this, and I would gladly make my squalling high school Freshmen and Sophomores suffer in ungraded silence if only for just one more entry.

Plus, I really want to play Hell Week. That sounds fun.

So...the wrist

Got the cast taken off and my wrist looks the same as it did before.

This puzzles Hand Doc greatly, especially the swelling (it's on my pinky side, reckless_blues -- the break is where my ulna connects to the outermost wrist bones). Evidently the tear in the ligament that holds the ulna and radius together when you turn your wrist/arm/hand is still there. So...yeah, surgery. Eventually. They want to get the swelling down first so I got a cortisone shot. OMFG and I thought the pain in my knee was bad when I got one there. It doesn't even come close.

On the bright side they gave me the OK to try to go back to work. Decorating only if I can handle it. I've got to hammer all this out tomorrow with HR.

BTW, Methinks Gary is dragging out this waiting-for-the-Gatekeepers because he's Gary ;) In other words, I'm not a Gatekeeper, just in case anyone was wondering.
