I saw a post last night that had the usual political nonsense about someone they didn't like with the question attached "Is this true?"

(1) It was something completely ridiculous. So, no, probably not true and you could probably reason that out for yourself

and

(2) Why not look it up for yourself?

If you stop and go "Man, that's messed up!" for long enough to want to post a meme making a outlandish claim - why not take the time to actually find out more details! Maybe it *is* true, and then you could use the source material to shut down the arguments of your disbelieving friends.

Now, I would say that this is a call for rational thought process, or doing your research.

But that's not what's on my mind today. My thoughts have turned to What outlandish stories can you make up about your fellow competitors!! What have they been doing that the world needs to know about? ;)

***

One thing I know they haven't been doing is "submitting their entries". But fortunately, they have until Monday! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/811500.html

There is also the Home Game/Killing Floor (The Killing Game?) http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/811580.html

and a Work Room: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/811782.html if you still need to figure things out!

I should eat something, but there's a small child in my lap right now.

Work today was awful mixed with actually feeling like I'm part of a team (which happens infrequently, sigh) and seeing my favorite regular customer (I really wish he was single, sigh).

Oh, and a free white hot chocolate because a customer didn't actually want it and we had to spoil/sample it out and it was delicious. :3

Over Thanksgiving with family my niece decided that my lap was the place to be for most of the day. At some point I needed to set her down to go and use the bathroom and she started to tear up a bit because I was leaving. Which is super sweet but dear lord I needed to pee!

Which is to say, I better understand your first sentence, and I am in awe of all parents.

xD Sounds about right.

Bob seems to decide my lap is the place to be when I'm tired and overstimulated myself and don't want extra contact. But since he sometimes retreats to my lap as a source of much needed comfort/stability/centering, I can't deny him it.

Sometimes he just follows me into the bathroom, lol. I'm just glad he doesn't have to be at my hip 24/7, which for a while when I started working he had to be.

Why was work awful then? Too busy? Or cranky customers?

Shift wars, basically. Second shift has some incompetent people (one is new, shows some promise, but oh my god he needs to learn how personal space is a Thing and quickly because he scares me). First shift has a bunch of pretty princesses who need everything to be perfect and with the shift ending at 8 now instead of 7 we're mired deep in breakfast rush for the last 2 hours of it and the deli is never, ever going to be perfect, ever, they can suck a (bleep), etc.

I have very few sucky customers. I have a few I wish would just leave the goddamn store already, but they are in rarely enough that they don't bother me (much).

Now, the one I wish was single? He can come into the store as frequently as he goddamn wants. HE IS SO PRETTY. (siiiiigh)

From: [identity profile] dmousey.livejournal.com
Ahhh... shift wars... first shift should NOT have princesses but people who actually know how to work and work fast and pleasantly. It is almost impossible to finish work on third if second does not hold up... told Sharon that years ago.

Don't get sucked into the BS. you could always take pics with your phone to show what you've left first with too!

Yep, exactly. And our first shift's been a malleable group of people and we don't really have any truly "strong" deli people back there anymore. So it's been rough, over all.

I'll try not to, but last night was even worse for different reasons. I am currently the favorite scapegoat for 1st shift, so... yeah. I am sucked in no matter what I do.

Second? I posted to the Killing Floor, still debating on my regular post...

Hubby and I are going out to a Brazilian Churrascaria steakhouse for dinner tonight with two friends who (despite living in town) we don't see very often. So I'm looking forward to that!

Did you know that [livejournal.com profile] kickthehobbit has been brought up on charges for fashion crimes against lizards? It's true! (The charges were dropped, but STILL.)

And [livejournal.com profile] roina_arwen once had a public meltdown at a pun-off. I read it on the internet (just now) so it must have some veracity.

And [livejournal.com profile] the_lettersea is working on a prototype RoboDeathShark for his day job. That guy... you really gotta watch out for him. That's why he's so reluctant to talk about his so-called 'real life'. He doesn't want us to find his hidden lair and stop him!

There's more, especially about [livejournal.com profile] crackpotpie, but I don't know if y'all can handle the truth.

I deny all rumors. Especially because our focus groups found the "iFerrets" to be a lot more pleasing than "RoboDeathSharks".

On that note: brb, need to talk to my "plumbers" about "fixing" a "leak."

Did you upgrade to FerretOS 9.1.1.1.1? It fixes the fixes we shipped to fix our fixes.

Date: 2014-12-05 06:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lrig-rorrim.livejournal.com
Ohhhh is that the problem? I thought some of those "features" were "bugs" (or perhaps vice versa? Maybe both) and so I skipped that upgrade. I'll get right on that.

In real (? oh, but what is reality! Now, now is the time for navel gazing and procrastination) news, I am working on a story. It is going slowly. I am also still dithering over what to post where. I think I know which of my older pieces I will deem "favorite" but the thought of bucking the trend and posting the new thing in the killing floor is really tempting right now. Not that I have a new thing yet, but still. I think I might just be feeling contrary (am not. Am too. Oh dear).

I'm pretty sure [livejournal.com profile] eternal_ot spends her nights appealing to The Dark Lord for an army of minion kittens in her bid to take over the world. Because, who would suspect kittens? I've heard that [livejournal.com profile] karmasoup shakes out the circle of salt around her.

:-P~

Probably going to see [livejournal.com profile] the_dark_snack at a Who holiday party tonight. I'd hope [livejournal.com profile] beldarzfixon would be with her, but he's probably working.

[livejournal.com profile] lrig_rorrim is secretly the heroine of an Edwardian drama. You can tell because she has a fainting futon.

[livejournal.com profile] icaruslived is actually a sockpuppet of Deep Blue!

[livejournal.com profile] jem0000000 IS the nicest person on the internet. She tries really hard to hide it, but I know it's true.

[livejournal.com profile] gratefuladdict has promised me pie. I can't think of anything more outlandish than that.

Oh, and then there's [livejournal.com profile] talonkarrde88. ...the things I could tell you about him and Hemingway, I just can't even.

Also, I'll have you know that I'm the heroine of a STEAMPUNK Edwardian drama. There has to be some explanation for all the gears and corsets in my house. :P As for the fainting futon, I have no regrets. It's a versatile piece of furniture and I shall defend it to the last.

I haven't posted the Killing Floor piece yet, though I did weigh what to post. I either don't have "true" favorites, or I don't want them ripped apart (the Woolworth's lunch-counter sit-in poem) or think that people were too scared to comment the first time (the "barrel of crabs" story from a few weeks ago).

An idea came to me on Wednesday morning, and I scribbled notes, and I do not understand why it has not written itself already! :(

Ridiculous claims?

Date: 2014-12-05 11:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] uncawes.livejournal.com
This week my opinion of a "fluffy" morning TV host went up several notches. He was interviewing the Prime Monster about how things are going in parliament and the PM lamented that the opposition were 'feral' and why wouldn't they stop being obstructionist. Fluffy host asked the PM if the opposition weren't simply doing what he had done, and done well, as opposition leader. Morning TV, at least here in Oz, isn't supposed to be serious. It was that day. And nothing the host said was ridiculous - it was right on.
You Americans think your Congress needs a shake up - take a look at the Australian parliament. Far few members of the House, but far more feral - on both sides. It's entertaining to watch, but frustrating that our national leaders are more focussed on behaving like kindy kids (sorry, kids, I know that's offensive to you) than on running the country.
