A few words from clauderainsrm:

People like to “tell me the truth” about things.

One of those truths was something that I ended up hearing more times than I can fully remember - but the most recent one was a little over a week ago.

“We all know Allison is going to win this again” and “Everyone else is just playing for Second Place”

When I lifted the ban on previous winners participating, I knew that anything could happen. Most of them ended up byeing out. But one stayed.

Until now.

Because not every season is the same, and Real Life can happen.

So wipe those slate boards clean Ladies and Gentlemen. Because it’s anyone’s game.

Thank you so much to whipchick for coming back out this season. I hope you managed to haveb some fun, and I know you certainly wrote some great stuff.

Hope to see you in the Home Game! (and at the Thai Temple when you are in town! ;) )

As for the rest of you, now that you have pulled your jaws up off the floor - our topic was “Gauntlet” and I wasn’t joking.

There is a regular poll. We will be losing the bottom three from there.

We will be losing at least 5 but no more than 10 from there.

We also vote here. I am guessing that overlap of votes from both polling methods will be the largest determinate of how many are going home. If the three lowest from this poll, for example, are part of those excluded from the contestant only voting, then likely the contestant poll will have a smaller number of eliminations, whereas the total will still tip towards 10. A full kill of 13 seems unlikely. I hope.

Whipchick, no! Certainly one of the most dangerous authors in the competition on the basis of talent. I will not forget your capacity to bring magic to non-fiction. So sorry to leave like this - I meant to at least sacrifice, but the Florida weather flooded me out of time.

Thanks so much for the kind words - I've enjoyed writing this season, but my editing business is picking up. So far this month I've done developmental edits for a YA set in Alaska and an African-American history/mythological family saga, and am about to ghostwrite a book on real-estate newsletters before plunging into line-editing a Turkish writer's science fiction epic and a Cold War memoir in January. On one hand, it's great to be making money in my field; on the other hand, it sure is cutting into my writing time, and I have to re-evaluate what I want to be doing!

I've felt for a few weeks now I wasn't giving the kind of feedback and support to my fellow contestants that really justified asking for theirs in return, so it's a bit of a relief :) And hey, maybe I'll find some way...some week...possibly soon...to be involved in another way.

I know how you feel about doing double duty with other responsibilities. On top of LJI and, of course, taking care of KFP, I've got a big editing/formatting project I will soon be finishing up. And of course, there are Press Relations duties for Otakon, too. I do tend to read but don't always get the chance to comment as much as I'd like to.
