It's the day before my birthday weekend officially starts!

Still waiting for some good news. Well, I'm waiting and I'm *hoping* that it will end up being good. Although I'm doubting it. So if you can send me some good vibes, I'd really appreciate it.

As for the rest of you still in the competition, or signing up for Last Chance, last night I revealed that this week's vote is CONTESTANT ONLY http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/784297.html so hopefully you are busy reading and getting those votes into me.

There were some questions scattered about, so I'll try to bring them all into one place, to make it easier:

How many people can I vote for? As many, or few, as you want.

How should I send in the votes? You want my ideal ballot - ok...As a list of names in alphabetical order. No numbers or links or anything other than the name. The body of the text works best -Not as an attachment.

I sent in my votes - how do I know if they are received? I will send you an email when they are officially received and recorded.

How do I know if I am eligible for vote this round? Are you a current contestant? Yes? Then you can vote.

Have you been eliminated and not brought back into the competition? Yes. You can not vote.

Are you someone who is just observing, but not in the competition? Yes. You can not vote.

Are you someone who has signed up for Last Chance Idol and completed/linked your first entry by the deadline? Yes: You can vote. No: You can not vote.

Are you a monster who lives under people's beds? I'll consider allowing you vote if you could do me a couple favors! ;)

Should I write something for Last Chance Idol? The main competition vote ends 24 hours before the deadline for Last Chance sign-ups/first entry due. If you really think you are in danger - sign up for Last Chance. If you don't - don't, and then if you are voted out, writing something! If nothing else, writing the entry gives you something to Home Game while you wait!

How do I tell if I need to do something or if it's Last Chance Idol/the other way around? I mark things "Last Chance Idol" if they are for that. If I don't mark it that way, it's for the main competition.

I want to sign up for Last Chance Idol - where do I do that? http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/783873.html

Where do I find out what the first topic is? http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/783873.html

I have ideas and want to talk to someone about them - Where do I find the Last Chance Idol Work Room? http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/784521.html

How will we know who goes from Last Chance Idol to the main competition? I will tell you.

What if I have a question that is not covered in this? Ask.

If you had two pieces of information to give to people, what would they be?

(1) You are going to be the winner of LJ Idol Season 9, you can do this!
(2) I am lying to everyone except one person. ;)

Very helpful info to have all in one place - thank you, Gary, and happy almost-birthday weekend!

Hubby and I are in Columbus, OH with [livejournal.com profile] minikin and her hubby. At some point today we will be going to a Swiss Festival, about two hours from here. Chocolate and cheese and Alpenhorns, oh my!

Okay, back to reading entries and compiling votes. :)

[livejournal.com profile] whipchick's excellent entry ("Grammar Dojo") has made me think about typos, grammatical errors, etc., in our entries. Do people like to be notified of them, when is it too picky, etc., and what is the best way to let someone know? I send the writer a private message. We all make mistakes, and I try to limit myself to missing words or things that might make a sentence confusing.

I usually tell the writer in a PM if it's before the deadline. If it's after, I usually ignore it, because IMO it's too late to edit at that point.

And really, I'd only point out obvious things like typos and missing quotation marks, etc. Considering the range of info covered in the Dojo, I wouldn't point out things like "very silent" or "repeat myself again," unless someone asked for feedback. My experience has been that people don't appreciate unsolicited feedback, and a percentage of people who ask for feedback don't really want it.

Speaking for myself: I'd rather know than not know, whether I dashed off an entry near the deadline without chance for revision or I spent a week fine-tuning it. (One of those happens far more often than the other.) While I find any typos eventually, having a heads-up gives me something to fix ASAP.

I never mention it in the entries themselves, but I'm usually open to general constructive criticism. Just be aware that, unlike the wilting petunias over at [livejournal.com profile] whipchick's Dojo, some editees won't just sit there and take their lumps. ;-)

Agreed w Kathryn Rose. I say something if the punctuation messes w the understanding. For ex: "Let's eat Grandma!" Vs. "Let's eat ( comma) Grandma!"

Prior to the deadline, I attach a "P.S." in parenthesis; after I ignore it unless I know the contestant, and then I use whatever way my experience with them has led me to believe they prefer. If I don't know someone and it's after deadline, I typically don't say anything.

That said, I've always liked those sorts of things, even after the deadline; I can't change it, but I can leave myself a screened comment detailing the changes I want to make, and go through after the results are up, checking my comments to myself and editing.

Submitted for your convenience (http://karmasoup.livejournal.com/40933.html): (Well, mostly for mine, but you can use it, too). . . a non-poll alphabetized list of current contestant entries.

Floof-cat wants to know who she gets to kill, and if she can do it by cutely jumping out at their feet while they walk by.

Don't worry. The monster under the bed is just Dr. Who's companion, and she's pretty nice.

Hi, everyone. Just wanted to pop in here and wave and say that I will be reading entries this afternoon while my boy -- who is currently pantsless because it makes it easier to get to the potty on time -- plays with Thomas trains and watches "Curious George."

That is all.

I don't live there all year 'round, but I do keep a vacation home there.

There is no monster under my bed.
When I was four or five I spent a week waiting for it to come out so I could net it with a sheet, tie it up and tame it.
When nothing even so much as peaked out I went under my bed looking for it.
There wasn't even a monster scale/hair underneath that bed.
It was very disappointing.
I was going to teach it to do tricks and everything.

I just wanted to comment in regards the green room after this... any time you try to encourage everyone to leave 100 comments to a given green room I will avoid commenting to that green room in principal, because my heart is black and cold and two sizes too small like the grinch. Also green rooms with lots of comments are really really annoying. I may have to start commenting to green rooms more so that there'll actually be an impact of me not commentin to specific green rooms. Hmmmmmm.
