This weekend was going to be full of fun and surprises, but thanks to the mail moving far too slowly – it’s now just going to be full of fun.

No long weekend for me, we had one last weekend. So this one will be normal, but full of fun with the Champions League final, dinner out, and maybe the cinema!

No long weekend here. Don't get those anymore since the child's been born, really.... Silly kid. Making me work 24/7 pretty much. =p

I plan to finish my anthology submission this weekend as well as a "for fun" project, though the "for fun" one might get pushed back as I work on other, more pressing projects. Like my book. Apparently that break I was taking? Was long enough already.

Of course, I plan all these things but I still don't really feel in the right headspace to write. It's been a crazy month and a half around these parts.

I have (potentially) an extra-long weekend. Took today off because of scheduling weirdness with the ladies who make my hair purple. I don't have Monday off by default, but if nothing blows up while I'm out today I will likely take it since I work from home and can check periodically for anything urgent.

I am off on Monday, and I'm going to use all this time to try and craft an AWESOME story for ya'll! I had the spousal person turn on the Nintendo (yes, the original one) that he got me for Valentine's last night so I could do some research for my story. ;)

And then he took pics of me playing it, and I swear that if he could he'd print them out and hang them on the refrigerator next to the pic of me playing the Nintendo when I was like 9 or 10.

I was thinking - I know that some people prefer non-fiction in Idol because they feel like they get to know people better that way. I pour myself into my fiction, and I hope that if you read it you get some idea of me. Like this story is going to totally use a lot of stuff from my childhood.

Also I'm always open to new friends if you want to read my non-Idol posts and get to know me! ;)

I do a regular Story Music Friday thing on my Tumblr. Haven't decided what song to use for today yet. I kind of want to do a song relating to the story I'm going to be writing this weekend, but well - I did Skrillex's Kill Everybody last week, for last week's story (it's the theme song of my evil chaos god character and helped inspired the plot), so I can't use another Skrillex song this week even if his music really fits with 8 bit game characters.

Anybody got any 8 bit music recommendations?

Also, for the non-fiction fans - looking at the entries that are already up, these topics plus flying solo seems to have inspired more non-fiction this round.

It actually is a long weekend in Malaysia too! Except today is the holiday (Wesak Day). My husband has taken my youngest to Australia for the weekend, so I'm at home with my eldest now (who just went to bed). My weekend plans include reading a short story to an audience, which is something I've never done before. I practiced it aloud today and tried to do Scottish and French accents for a couple of the characters, but somehow they came out sounding Jamaican at times. Can I get away with that if they're in the Caribbean? :/

Aside from that, I'm trying to make the most of being able to write and edit without interruptions from my nearly-3-year-old. So far I've been most successful with poetry, alas!

Massive grocery shop tonight, then cooking gazpacho and banana bread tomorrow morning, then no plans until Monday when I start training for my new job! I'm nervous and excited and scared I'll hate it.

Gonna rewrite the Idol entry from yesterday, I think. I woke up this morning and decided I didn't really like it. Gonna change my choice of prompts, too. We'll see what I come up with!

Last day of preschool for the kiddos yesterday and today. Except, I enrolled them in the summer program! Next week off, then right back to school until the end of July!

Hubby doesn't have Monday off. Also, it is race weekend here, so we will be avoiding going out as much as possible. Nice relaxing weekend at home. That works.

I don't know that I would have called last year's card thoughtful. I will have to see what they send me next month. ;)

We do not have a summer school program that we can put our children in outside of the retake corse you failed sort of thing.
However we have two more weeks before they come home for the summer and a full month after that before my youngest gets to see a doc. About her psycho meds.

I need to do a couple of things before I actually write my entry, but as of bedtime last night, I have a clearer picture of what I want to say :)

I'm due to return to work on a limited schedule starting next week. Because of the weight restriction, I can only do a certain number of things there, but hey, one more pair of hands is better than no other pairs of hands! At least that what I tried to get across when I met with everybody. They're going to let me try this schedule, but everybody, including myself, is being cautiously optimistic.

But hey, I'll never know unless I try.

We will be heading up to Cincinnati tomorrow and spending the weekend, to see a dinner theater production of The Sound of Music. Other than that and writing my entry, no huge plans.

In one of those "strange other countries" so really I'm jut happy i only have to entertain the spawn for two days not three. I'm working today then tomorrow likely will involve yard and house work before Mr. Manfriend comes home from his conference in Ottawa. Maybe out or dinner of we can get a sitter, he keeps promising me a wine and conversation night but with work commitments and child care drama it's been a lot of talk and no delivery.

Also we started treating the baby for her iron anemia so the next step will likely be trying to get her to eat a pile of prunes which will likely mean my weekend is full of shit.

I have found that certain words make potential sitters disappear faster the kisses at an all woman's book club. Words like autistic and bipolar.
I have one of each.

Four day weekend for me, thanks to my work going to 9/80s! (That means we get our 80 hours/two weeks done in 9 days instead of 10, so we get every other Friday off. Working days are longer, but it's worth it so far.)

I was going to go visit my parents in Round Rock, but I came down with a head cold and my grandma's in the hospital -- not a good combination, since I'd rather not transmit germs to her through my mother. So instead, I get four days of lazing around the apartment!

Well, lazing and trying to figure out my Idol entry for the week. Still drawing a blank. Sigh!

Monday is Memorial Day here in the US. It's a federal holiday, so most businesses are closed -- ergo, a lot of people have the day off, so it makes it a 4-day weekend. Unless you're in retail or food service, that is :p

Back before the kids, we used to leave town and celebrate our wedding anniversary (which is the 20th). When the kids were little, we'd go places like Tilden park or MarineWorld and such.

Now that they're teenagers, we're trying to squeeze celebrating our 24th in around their transportation schedules, bemoaning how hard it is to plan anything because the eldest is always overly busy with homework/school stuff, and accepting how much of the time will be involved with yardwork.

But it still beats going into the office. ;)

ETA (how could I forget): also, agonizing over my Idol entry, and trying to finish that Justified story that is due on the 29th, and must be shoved into place no matter how hard it wants to resist. :(

While toddler is napping, I'm going to read some more of a collection of poetry by Czeslaw Milosz. I've realized that I desperately need to get back to reading on a regular basis. It's almost embarrassing at this point to be an English major who hasn't finished reading a book in months. (Other than the picture books I read for Henni, which while fun, don't satisfy the same intellectual needs).

My plan for the weekend is to get my entry written. Also to read more. And to do some cleaning. I think it's likely going to be raining here, so alas, no outdoor fun.

I'm in the same boat - an English Major who doesn't read books as often as I should (too much online games and Facebook, I do declare). I'm lucky if I get one book a month read. I currently have two books that I'm in the midst of, but only just barely, and a stack of at least eight books that I keep meaning to read... whoops!

i kinda had a rotten couple of days and have been very quiet - but i'm having an "up" moment and thought i'd check in.

i'm choosing the na wa ooo topic but it's sort of a loose interpretation, appropriately enough since EVERY translation i've come across has been a little loose or vague - language is so interesting. but i'm excited about seeing where this takes me.

hope you all are having a fantastic friday - i am actually doing something tonight! whoa! and i'll check back tonight or tomorrow and see how you all are doing.

(i'm also curious to find if anyone has a definitive "na wa oo" translation, heh)

What are you doing? We're going to eat at a fast food place that my sister-in-law doesn't like, since she's not with us, and then...I left a thing I need for a work in a property, so we're going out to do work stuff for a bit. Sigh.
