We watched Poltergeist last night. It was the first time in years that I'd seen it (and the 9-year old had never seen it), and I had forgotten that it all boils down to one important lesson: Demons want friends too. Why couldn't they have just let that little girl hang out with her friend the demon, and all of those spirits?

Some parents are just greedy!

It got pretty creepy when I went on Wikipedia to find out what happened with the sequels, and found out what happened to the two girls!

Speaking of horrible things happening, there is a poll going on:http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/650703.html

Oh, and Happy Mother's Day! Idol appreciates all the Mothers out there who messed their kids up to the point that they decided "I'm going to do that Idol thing!"

I literally laughed out loud at that last line and will be sharing it with my mother who would love to play idol if she could just learn how he internet works.

I'm spending the day cleaning things up and pretending it's just another Sunday. My mom passed away four years ago and today's kind of hard. At least tonight I'm going out for dinner with my dad, which I'm excited about. Little things! Also, reccing reckless_blues' entry; it's amazingly gorgeous.

Hope everyone else is having a wonderful day!

Hahahaha, your Mother's Day comment. That is so true for me it's not even funny. But I'm laughing anyway.

Anyway, trying to make myself work on my book chapter (this rewrite is going soooooo slowly) and adjust to my meds increase and All The Feels and not have a pity party because It All Feels So Real and Everything Hurts.

Oh, and I should probably stay away from the GR right now because that would be much more conducive to writing. Although most people are probably out with their moms now, so fewer distractions?

Depends where they are :) even if I were in the same place as my mum, it is quarter to one on the morning. Boo.

Oh Lord, Poltergeist. I never saw it as a kid so when I did eventually see it, it was just the most unfrightening thing in the world. The Exorcist got me, though.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mums out there :)

I love my mother, but I don't know that I'm ready for her to read anything I've written about her, my family, or, indeed, myself on Idol. I need to think about that.

I am enjoying a lazy Mother's Day and my first day of the end of the academic year. I work year round, but the absence of students and grading makes for a much different sort of experience.

YES YES I told you! I told you in my introduction of him that he is a beautiful person who writes achingly beautiful things! See, you can trust me, I have good taste. :)

Also *hugs*. My husband is the oldest of five, and their mother died a few months before I met him, so it's a heavy day around here too. *more hugs*

I've known him for years and he manages to blow me away every time he writes something new. :) His talent is kind of ridiculous.

I fought the cold and the cold won, so we're going to the grocery store (the fancy one, with good bread and a cheese shop) and buying treats and then taking the kids to the pool instead of trying to do a Big Mother's day Thing.

Also! I'm taking over the actual office in our house, the one with a DOOR. Hopefully, this will translate into increased productivity since I've got a novel to finish and another one to start before the end of the year. I've already moved my chairs down and put my inspirational poster on the wall, I just need to get all my husband's junk cleaned out and claim the space as MINE. :)

Aw sweet! I didn't even notice!! Now I get to feel extra special!!

As a side note, it is my baby's birthday today, thus officially marking my survival of year 1 with three kids. I'm actually somewhat surprised I"m not hiding under a table with a box of cheap wine cowering in fear of the savages right now.

I just found out my review of the latest Sookie book, Dead Ever After, has the highest "helpful" rating of all the reviews of that book on audible. It's so cool. Literally three times as many people read it and marked it helpful. It's like scoring high in poll I wasn't even thinking of as a poll.

I suppose I'll call my mother later today.

I took my PPI about 15 minutes or so ago? So I'll eating soon, and then taking a shower, and then...

I meant to get started on the new Sims story yesterday, but then the spousal person told me a library book was due really soon so I spent the day finishing it instead. And now - I still want to write, but I also want to research some stuff.

Do you guys ever make acquaintances on the internet with people who like your writing, and you get along for a bit and they seem pretty cool, but then they reveal something that makes you step back and go "Whoa"?

So then you're confronted with all kinds of issues, like if you're stereotyping people and prejudiced, or if they really are bad people who somehow got past your initial bad person radar sweep, or whatever. Also you're kind of surprised that they liked your work in the first place.

I don't know. In the current situation of that sort, I wonder if maybe it's just ignorance and lack of thought?

I have not seen Poltergeist, but I have seen Poultrygeist, because someone on my flist was involved with making that film, and a documentary about it. ;)

That's all I wanted to comment on. I have to go to sleep now, and hopefully I can actually have some time tomorrow to do things I need to do.

That happens off the internet, too. I mean, we're all complex people and we all put our best face forward for people, and we tend to assume that when people like some of the things we like, then of course they like all of the things we like. And sometimes the differences are no big deal, and sometimes they're, "Wait. What?"

I vividly remember in college, while (let's call it) snuggling with my (person who would nine years later become my first ex), finding out in pillow talk that she voted for Reagan.

I remember getting out of bed and not being able to think straight for several minutes. I mean, I knew she was a business major, but...

I very nearly said, "Get out of my bed." I talked myself out of doing that, but honestly, the next nine years of my life would probably have been a lot nicer if I had listened to myself that day.

Tangents. I haz them.

I still have nightmares over the Exorcist. The creepy part about it was that I dreamed about parts of the movie before I had ever seen it. ;) That always makes me avoid it, haha.

I don't think I could ever let my family read my writing. A lot of it is NSFW so I'd feel rather uncomfortable, haha.

And that's the worst part! That is the only bit that really stays with me as being highly scary. I'm so sorry!
