Happy July the 5th!! The Day After “Independence Day” AKA the “day you call home and see if your parents can spot you a little extra for rent, or maybe do a little laundry over at their house when you come over for dinner”!

I hope everyone had a nice 4th. Especially the people who do not celebrate it because they live in ForeignLand! ™

I ended up celebrating it the only way a true ‘Merican should – watching fireworks explode (in their usual celebration of Chinese culture) while standing in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart! The fact that we were standing near a fireworks dealer meant that every kid within a couple hundred feet was setting something off as well, and the smoke blanketed the entire area!

Another thing that is going to “blanket the entire area” is the screams that come from the results of the poll closing today: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/582723.html

Why? Because screams are the appropriate way of expressing yourself at the end of a poll! That, and uncontrolled sobbing!

We watched the fireworks! While sitting near an elementary school. :)

Also my mother came to hang out with us, and we took her to this French bakery she likes here. She then managed to cut her leg open on a metal thingy outside the bakery, and we had to take her to the ER and she got eight stitches. She's okay, though.

I'm not worried about the poll at all. If I get voted out, well - I know my entry is weak this week. Because I've been sick and in pain (actually threw up while I was writing the story) and it seems like the ulcer is doing its best to make a return. And so really, I may be secretly hoping to get voted out because I need to rest and sleep and just chill and also maybe go to the doctor.

I just had breakfast for the first time this week. Let's see how that works out for me at work.

I actually did not have any pain last night! I had some pressure and some twinges when I went to bed that scared me, but it never got really bad and I managed to go to sleep and sleep all night until my husband woke me up (my alarm didn't go off).

Also, my mother came down yesterday for the 4th and managed to cut her leg open on a metal thingy outside a bakery we went to. She needed eight stitches. We took her to the same hospital I went to last year. So between the return of the ulcer pain three nights in a row, sleep deprivation, nausea, and going back to the ER...yeah.

I really should call out of work and just sleep today, but of course I won't. Oh well. I think it's just supposed to be in the 90s today, not the 100s, so maybe I'll be okay. After all, this return of the ulcer pain did coincide with the four hottest days in a row ever, and I think that it's definitely linked. I've never dealt well with heat. I don't sweat. I just get sick.

Gotta go finish getting ready and get to work now.

*crosses fingers that today is okay and there's no pain or nausea*

Edit - also first! And it's a bit of a novel because most of it is copied and pasted from my comment in the last GR. ;)

*HUGS*

I read you entry about how sick you were. I'm sorry :(

I really hope you feel better, and whatever happens in Idol... Well you need to take care of yourself first and foremost. It sounds like whatever is going on is pretty icky.

Thank you! I do feel a little better now. And I scrolled down a bit on the poll, and it looks like I'm going to get my wish. :)

I think I might get John to make an appointment with my primary doctor tomorrow.

Oh wow - thank you! :) That means a lot, because I just kind of wrote it while in a daze, lol.

And yep, yay for first! :) I was checking to see if anyone had replied to my comment in the previous GR at work since I couldn't get into the email I use for LJ, and I saw the new one go up. :)

I'm glad your mom is ok. Stay cool and get plenty of rest! Also, yay for frist! ;)

:( Please let the ulcer not be back.

Though at least you'd know where to look first, instead a lot of other random worry about less easily fixablel things.

Hope you feel better soon!

Yeah, that's my reaction too. It feels just like the ulcer. Just not as bad.

I've been pretty okay the last couple of days. I think I'm going to have John make an appointment with my primary doctor tomorrow.

Thank you.

So tired. My kid and I are finally starting to feel better though? We went to a friend's house for the 4th. He is in love with our friend for some reason. :)

Here, have a random video of Max dancing:

my July 4th was brilliant. I did nothing. I stayed in my sisters house and did nowt.

It gave my ankles time to unswell after the 4 flights in the previous 24 hours send them ballooning.

I spent the 4th in the misery of being surrounded by too many houseguests, including arrogant disrespectful little shits who think that my requests that they clean the fuck up after themselves so my 8 month old baby doesn't choke is occasion to roll their eyes--and parents/adult supervisors who do as well. So that's been super fun. And spent my evening playing Mass Effect 2, because as much as I love fireworks, there was no way I wanted to go watch them with that lot.

Today we're running away from the guests and going camping.

Today's lesson on manners and accepting hospitality--when someone opens their home to you, that doesn't mean that they want to play maid for your excessively messy children. Show some goddamned courtesy and clean up a little, especially if a baby lives there.

From: [identity profile] pixiebelle.livejournal.com
Ugh. That sounds obnoxious. When you're a houseguest, you pick up after yourself and your kids without rolling your eyes at the people kind enough to host you.

That's just ridiculous and frustrating. I hope you have fun camping though!

I need to head out to work soon. Well the vet and then work, but you get what I mean.

The 4th was nice and lazy. [livejournal.com profile] java_fiend came over and we both were feeling a little sick... me with a head thing and him with a stomach thing. Our Chinese takeout place was closed, so we went to a local BBQ chain and ordered out. Came back, ate and then watched The Twilight Zone marathon on SyFy because we are just dorks like that.

He also got to experience my night first hand and can now explain why I'm always so tired. First, it was my cat biting my feet every 5 minutes. Then it was Annabelle being restless and getting into her crate and trying to dig around for who knows what. I'd love one night of sleeping straight through the night, I really would.

But hey, it's almost Friday, right? :)

I'm avoiding the polls. I briefly glanced this morning and that wasn't good for my stress levels. So no more of that for me. Nope. That's what I'm going to aim for at least. Too many people are close that I can tell it's going to be a crazy fight to the finish and several of my favorites are right on the cusp. Eek!

When we had cable, Mike and I used to always watch the Twilight Zone marathons! :D

I am also avoiding the poll. The spreads lately have been so small and it just stresses me out. I will probably check it before I get off work in case I need to post a voting link on my LJ or anything, but that's it.

I haven't had cable in over a decade, and for the most part my interest in TV is pretty low. We started off like meh... What are we going to watch? And then got sucked in. I lived Twilight Zone and the Outer Limits as a kid, so it's fun to watch again :)

The poll is tight. It really can go any which way. I'd say only three people at the top are likely safe... It's pretty scary all around.

We watched fireworks from the parking lot of our hotel, they were awesome! We were close enough to where they were being set off that we got bits of mortar debris scattered around us too, LOL.

Today we're heading up the mountain to Gatlinburg and play some mini golf, then over the mountain to Cherokee, NC to a casino that we like. Tomorrow evening we're doing the Lumberjack Feud dinner show, which should be fun!

It's rather alarming how much this heat/humidity is affecting me. I'm not reacting well to it at all, no matter how much I drink/stay cool. It no doubt has something to do with my wonky thyroidless body and subsequent wonky mineral/electrolyte/whatever levels. I mean, when you walk into the freezer at work and literally cannot feel how cold it is in there, you know something's wrong.

The thought that I actually have to go upstairs and get dressed exhausts me :p

Didn't watch any fireworks last night, but I could see the sky lighting up from the fireworks over the harbor. The neighborhood kids always set off their illegal stashes down at the park, so between both it was like being in a war zone. Poor Ember was so scared she ran back to the house during our evening walk :(

Poor Ember :(

I was worried about Annabelle since the fireworks were blasting outside, but she only looked slightly concerned a few times. She stayed near us and would cock her head now and then. We had a smoke detector all wonky last night and it was beeping every few minutes. That actually freaked her out worse than the fireworks. Freaked us out too as it continued to beep long after the batteries were taken out. I read that's normal... But how annoying. Poor Annabelle.

Ember was more tolerant of fireworks when she was younger. In fact she'd try to lead me to their source (i.e., down to the park)! We made it as far as the corner at the other end of our block when she turned and booked it back to the driveway, me running after her!

It was loud in the house too. She refused to leave my side, even when I went into the bathroom. She does the same thing whenever there's a thunderstorm.

Poor Ember and poor Annabelle. Our poor scared babies :shakes head:

That sounds awful :(

And Java wasn't happy to see that it'll be 79 here next week. We've been lucky so far, though it's been more humid than it should be for CA.... I actually sweated on my walk with Annabelle yesterday and it wasn't that hot, just humid.

Since we are talking rec's this week... I really liked [livejournal.com profile] alien_infinity and [livejournal.com profile] yachiru's pieces this week. I thought they were creative and fun. Which I like creative and fun fiction. Both of them have imaginations that I envy, I want their brains.

[livejournal.com profile] milk_and_glass looks to be doing good, but if you haven't read it, you should. It's a very good piece too. It's dark and beautiful.

I spent yesterday dealing with a nasty stomach bug. Ugh. I haven't actually tried eating anything yet, but more than twelve hours of sleep last night certainly seems to have helped.

Also, Tuesday night I met Zoey, the world's chattiest kitty cat. She meows loudly and constantly, but she's a real cutie. One of my sweeties has adopted her, and I am completely charmed by her. Mostly because she is completely charming.

Here (http://pics.livejournal.com/lrig_rorrim/pic/000071hz) is a picture of her (the only decent one I was able to get with my phone, because she is always in motion).

I stayed home and got work done yesterday.
I also enjoyed the apreceation of my dog who is so happy about the bed I bought "her" to share with me.
She really likes "her" newish bed. I am painting it. Not in the its easier to spray paint the frame the to refinish it sort of way but the I dug out my artist brushes and am using it like a cheap canvas sort of way.
Yay art deco.
yay cheap acrilic paint.
Yay real bed - way nicer then a camp cot.

I did "why-won't-my-computer-behave" plus a lengthy bike ride. That's actually not so much fun on holidays/weekends, because everyone is on the bike path, including the people who walk ON the path, stop on the path, carry rafts on the path instead of the shoulder, ride two-abreast with one person OVER the yellow line, and randomly try to make abrupt left turns without checking to see who else is around. Escaped without injury, thank goodness. :0

Dinner and fireworks at my brother's, with my niece's fabulous in-laws (the outlaws, they call themselves, and they are hilarious and energetic and make my family look like slugs. We adore them). My brother loves doing the home fireworks, so the show's always good. No spontaneous enflamage this year-- last year a fairly expensive multi-chambered firework made it through 1 1/2 "feature sets" before going up in flames and nearly taking the display scaffold with it. Wow.

Actually, in retrospect, that makes for a kind of awesome memory. As so many failures do. ;)

My apologies, everybody…
