The topic has been posted, http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/569110.html
so now it’s time to get to work again!

I gave you an extra day (well, the end of Survivor did. But I’ll take credit for it) so you have a little extra time to hone your entries into what you want them to be.

I’m still seeing some formatting issues - really small type that makes it difficult to read, formatting that just goes wonky, people forgetting to unlock their posts so people can read them. You know, little things that could end up costing. We are so deep in this now that anything like that could very well end your run.

Which would be a shame because I happen to think you are the strongest Top 40 to date. I’m hoping that you will be the strongest Top 30...20... and so on! :)

There is still a way to go, but the end is within sight for those with a telescope handy! ;)

I can't remember either. Because I hate making my connection too obvious. But a not-obvious connection to this topic seems like it would be... Not so connected.

And the whole..turning the meaning on the head?

I don't know. I'm tossing ideas right and left..

And yes, too obvious isn't good but when people comment to me and say they couldn't see how it had to do with the prompt..that's also not good.

I'm conflicted...

That's only been said to me once but i suspect people think it sometimes.

For me, it is helpful to have a connection to the prompt, but it doesn't have to be right on the surface, slap-you-in-the-face obvious. I guess part of the issue is how you're thinking of turning the prompt on it's head?

There's "walking on eggshells" by being cautious, and then there's "walking on eggshells" and not giving a goddamn about how many shells you crack.

You said:

So...do you think both of the ones you just said would be ok? Or would one be penalized for writing about not caring how man you crack? I stil haven't decided..

I honestly think both would be perfectly okay. :)

This. My rule of thumb is that as long as the prompt is implied somewhere in your piece, it's OK :)

I don't think you can predict what Gatekeepers would want to see, what with them being a disparate bunch of individuals with their own ideas and opinions.

I say write what speaks to you and if you do your best, they're bound to like it. You always do well in Gatekeeper rounds anyway.
