Green Room - Week 8 - Day 4
Dec. 16th, 2011 11:17 amGood morning Idol! (Or at least as long morning may last, and then "good whatever")
First and foremost, there is a poll going on right now - http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/508975.html so I hope you are busy reading, commenting, and voting. Because the fate of many is in your hand. Or at least a few people - and if by "fate" you mean continuing to be active contestants in LJ Idol. Which, of course, as we all know, being eliminated is a fate worse than being pecked to death by cats.
Second, I would be remiss if I didn't post the link that I promised yesterday for the new Idol book http://www.amazon.com/Idol-Meanderings-Sophie-N-Childs/dp/1908599014/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323964152&sr=8-1 - someone else did post it, but since I said I would, I have.
I'm reading it now, and quite enjoying it. Especially the new material, and rediscovering things. Things always "read differently" on the screen than they do in print. At least for me.
Do other people have that as well?
Third - I don't have a third, other than being excited for the finale of Survivor this Sunday. Still not sure where I'm going to watch it! But I'm still excited.
What are your weekend plans?

Date: 2011-12-16 04:19 pm (UTC)I'm not supposed to have music up here. They can just suck it -- it's the last day of work before Chrismtmas, someone has to amp up the holiday cheer, right? RIGHT.
(Last day for the canned food city. Final picture tomorrow, I promise!)

Date: 2011-12-16 04:20 pm (UTC)We made cookies & cream, Ferrero Rocher, Snickers, and fig & tequila (which I didn't think I'd like but I love it).
However, my fibro and RA have already been mistreating me this week so my plans for today and possibly the weekend include seeing a lot of my bed, the book I'm reading, and my Netflix.

Date: 2011-12-16 04:41 pm (UTC)For me, too. I recently got a Kindle and have been reading a few books on it. It just feels different to me. Not good or bad, just . . . different.
I am spending the whole weekend with my husband. On the first, I went back up to Cheyenne to hang out with my best friend and move all of the stuff we had in storage back to Albuquerque. She stayed in Albuquerque for a week, and just flew back to Cheyenne on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to the first full day of alone time with the hubby tomorrow. I think we're gonna snuggle up in bed and play WoW. Or Skyrim. Can't wait! ^_^

Date: 2011-12-16 04:44 pm (UTC)I actually do not have to work this weekend! I requested Sunday off for another choir concert, and they just happened to schedule me off on Saturday, which is a rare treat for me.
Today, however, I have a four hour shift right smack in the middle of the day. I will have time to crank out some pizzelles before work, but really, my day is useless for getting anything done.
Tomorrow will be a cookie baking bonanza (and hopefully, between what mom gets done today and what I get done tomorrow, we will be pretty close to done).

Date: 2011-12-16 05:01 pm (UTC)I'm looking forward to having the spousebeast home all weekend. The only real plan is stock-making and making sure Kent is at least in the room when I return his mom's phone call. She's called every day this week, and I'm setting boundaries. I feel mean, but I can't take it any more. Yeah, you're going to be alone (except for your husband) on Christmas. Get the &^%$ over it. I might be more sympathetic if she hadn't started this s&^t in October.
Yeah, I'm grumpy today. :(

Date: 2011-12-16 05:26 pm (UTC)Well, nothing to do but read and vote on Idol entries, and, perhaps, , write a few more before the Holiday. God willing and the votes for me do rise. HEE!

Date: 2011-12-16 06:26 pm (UTC)If everyone had a poem instead of a gun, there would be a lot of confused cops. There would be no caps to bust, only couplets to sing and we'd quickly run out of things to write about without violence. Bummer.

Date: 2011-12-16 08:57 pm (UTC)Now that my semester is over, I've set a goal for myself to read and comment on every single LJI entry. I've got lots of time to spare now that I don't have to crank out 15 page papers every week!

Date: 2011-12-16 09:28 pm (UTC)My weekend plans: 1. Watch Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol; 2. Buy X-Box 360; and 3. Finally get around to leaving feedback for people in the WR. I'm annoyed that I haven't been able to do it yet, but this week was busier than I thought it was going to be.
Oh, and of course, read and vote :D

From:Gary, I've got to tell you the truth:
Date: 2011-12-17 01:47 am (UTC)I don't understand why the two pieces by this co-called "Paul Riter" guy are in the book. I can honestly say that I've written stuff JUST AS GOOD as the two pieces in question, so I don't see what all the fuss is about.
On top of that, I think this guy has the all-time worst pseudonym I've ever seen. Everybody is going to read his name as "Paul the Writer" anyway, so WHY DIDN'T HE USE THAT NAME *INSTEAD*?
Still, it is often claimed that flaws in a jewel make the rest of the stone seem to sparkle all the more... and I guess that's true in this case. All the other pieces in the book were a delight for me to read... and I'd like to make a "shout-out" to my dear friend Norda Maranda Coy, who has three rather fine selections in the book.
Bottom line: The book is well worth the price, and I encourage everyone to purchase copies for family, friends and neighbors.

Date: 2011-12-17 05:53 am (UTC)Left: 1 final (tomorrow @ 9), put together 2 papers (already written just have to be put together) and a few IS classes. Then I can say good bye to my first semester as a grad student!
