Green Room - Week 31 - Day 6

It's an especially bittersweet morning, knowing that today is the last day for the entries to be in for the semi-finals http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/479084.html (7pm EDT to be exact) and that means that our time together is coming rapidly to a close.

Then again, given the graveyard shift that has been coming with Friday-Sunday these days, maybe the radio silence that has been going on is just the usual LJ-during-summer. Michael Leviton said "Summer's the Worst". He must be a LJ user!

Still, let us see if we can have one last burst from here until the end, to spend these last days together and celebrate such a fantastic season!

I had a great weekend that just went by too fast. I'm not sure where the time went...I really am having trouble waking up this morning. I really want to sleep some more.

java_fiend and I stayed pretty mellow, choosing to lie around and play games and watch True Blood. The problem is that we got abducted by aliens or something that stole our time away. *sigh*

I'm at my boyfriend's house, but he's at work right now (I'm staying for a few days so I've been left alone in his tiny box room - oh, the joys of the long-distance relationship)...
Today I'm supposed to be a) jobhunting, b) Preparing for a meeting I have tomorrow and c) researching arts funding. So far I've done one of the above, but I have watched Top Gear and been window-shopping on ebay for a cool film camera, because I'm apparently just that indie. I'm also deciding whether I really need to buy today's teefury shirt, or whether I am, in fact just spending money I don't really have on things I don't really need. I mean, I probably own about 12 T-Shirts already and I'm waiting for two more to arrive from Threadless.
It IS very cool, though, and for the vintage Harry Potter charm, I do kind of want it.

The window is wide open -- somewhere in the distance a child is screaming its head off. I am not impressed.

I also need another coffee.
Maybe I should have another coffee and then do some real work.
Maybe I'll just have another coffee and then decide whether to buy that T-shirt.

Like you with your shirts, I'm a Groupon addict and I have issues spending money I shouldn't on things like fitness classes. I've had to step back and say I need to get through some of these before I can buy more...maybe buy this one and step back and say "no more..." till a certain point in time?

G'Mornin' Folks!

Weird to think that it's just about all said and done here for the season. Very, very, very weird. However will we fill our days without Idol??? :-)

'twas a very nice weekend. pixie117 indulged me and we saw Transformers on Friday... it was AWESOME. Loved it. :-) We had yummy Peruvian food on Saturday and pretty much kept it mellow all weekend. Played some games and watched some True Blood. It was really, really nice.

*sigh* but now I'm chained to my cubicle once again. Bleh. Mondays blow. And next week, I have to go out to Vegas to work for the week. Vegas in July. Yeah, that's going to rock. Bleh. At least pixie117 is coming in on Thursday so we can spend some time together out there. That will make it much, much, much nicer.

There was a weekend? I think I missed it, which is weird, because it's not like I actually slept or anything.... J is dealing with her first real cold and so needs to wake up coughing and/or crying every 1.5 hours. It's... trying.

Today was really cold and it rained quite a lot. Proper, deliciously wintery weather :)

My weekend was alright. Spent time reading lots of books by Chris Van Allsburg, for a paper I have to write. Going to head over to the library and read a few more. On that topic, his newest book Queen of the Falls is based on a true story and is about the first person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel (she was a 62 year old former charm school teacher). If you have a chance to read it, check it out! It's a great story with amazing illustration.

We also put several fish into the new aquarium and they seem to be doing well.

Last week was kind of rough, so I'm hoping that this week might be a little better. At least I've had some lovely friends reminding me that even though I'm feeling a bit socially isolated in my new home, there are still people scattered around the world who love me and care.

My weekend was pretty good - Saturday was spent partly at a friend's birthday party, and partly celebrating the 20th anniversary of the first date my hubby and I went on. We had dinner at Hall's on the River, which is a lovely casual-dining restaurant on the banks of the KY River.

Yesterday afternoon we went to a cookout at a local state park. It was in the low 90's but we had a table under some huge shade trees, and one of the folks brought two tiki torches with him that burned insect repellant stuff, so that was doubly good! Afterwards, hubby and I went to see Larry Crowne, then had a late supper at Applebee's. Yum.

Today, I'm at work. 'Nuff said about that!

I'm suffering from that same "My weekend was too short" thing that seems to be going around. Of course, I ended up having to put in five hours of work last night, so that probably accounts for part of it. Blech. My job is making me crazy lately.

Also, my OTHER dog got skunked at an ungodly hour in the morning on Saturday. My husband left the back gate open for some stupid reason, and one of the kids let them out in the middle of the night. Apparently our front yard is rife with skunk passing by. *SIGH* Yet another incredibly expensive trip to the groomer.

At least today I am working from home, so that's a bright spot.

It's hard to believe we're going to be done here, soon. I am going to miss daily GR's. And all of you!

My weekend sucked. I was painfully broke through no fault of my own (I was supposed to be paid on Friday for some writing I did and the money didn't come through as promised), so I got to do nothing all weekend.

Of course, nothing meant we packed a picnic lunch and took a beautiful hike, popped tons of popcorn and had a movie night, pitched a tent in the backyard and had a sleepover, and ran through the sprinkler till our sides hurt from laughing. The kids had a great weekend. Me, I was just so pissed about not getting paid, I felt like I was going through the motions at times. And I hate that.

Also, I didn't get a damn thing written. I ended up pulling an all-nighter to get a jump on it, and I'm polishing the entries up now. Ugh. I just feel like my brainmeats are fried.

I'm still around, but extra-busy at work because the local county fair is going on which when you work at a small-town paper is one of the biggest work weeks we have. -- oh look, more pictures of chickens and cows to format -- So, I'll look in, and vote of course, but not much with the commenty.

Weekend was good, saw a local production of "Bat Boy, the Musical" which was awesome.

Hoping all are having a good summer -- heat index today in central Indiana is 105 F, so staying comfy will be an effort. =)

A play I directed this weekend opened and that pretty much sucked up all my time. Indeed, its been sucking up all my time for eight weeks. Very positive response, full houses and some very satisfying artistic moments. There's not a thing left in it that makes me cringe, which is always a good sign.

Rehearsal for improv tonight. More shows for the play this Wednesday through Sunday. Heh.
