Free Topic
Jun. 6th, 2011 09:44 pm"Free Topics" don't come along very often. But I'm making an exception this week.
They come along so infrequently that I'm sure there are quite a few of you who have no idea what they actually are.
Unlike a "normal" topic - a free topic is just that, completely optional. It is not part of the competition at all. There are no polls, no accountability. You get absolutely nothing if you write and there is nothing against you if you don't.
You don't have to be still in the competition, or have even played so much as a single week. "Free Topics" are for everyone.
This one is special though.
This once, I am completely and utterly abusing my authority. ;)
Because two months ago this week I met one of the most special people that I have ever come across, and damnit, I want to do something special for her. Something only I can do. :)
I want you to write. I want you to write wonderful and uplifting stories about a woman named Cynthia and her bike, her veggies, her indie music and unyielding love of flossing and jasmine tea and... well, all sorts of things. Maybe involving the moon. She loves that too. :)
I have never put a restriction on a single entry, but this time it's special, so that "uplifting" part is important. :) Keep the stories positive people. OK?
I'm completely crazy about this woman and want to showcase just how great the writers here actually are. It's one thing to tell, its going to be another thing to actually show her once you are done. Let me show off a little bit. Please.
Free Topics really don't have a deadline per se, but since the real new topic will be posted Thursday night, let's go ahead and say you have - if you decide you want to participate - until Thursday June 9th at 10pm EDT.
Thank you - and have fun!

Sappiness for Cynthia
Date: 2011-06-07 02:48 am (UTC)Cynthia is the only woman I know who has vegetarian picnics in the park, in the dark. We ate baby carrots and grape tomatoes from her garden, not able to see what went into our mouths, but the freshness and the crispness reverberating off of tongues and the glorious taste filling our mouths.
Cynthia rides a bicycle with a broken basket and a childlike bell. One day, I'll buy her a horn to go beside it, so we can switch between ringing and honking at the neighborhood children, just for kicks. There's no reason to act like an adult unless you absolutely have to in our world.
Cynthia, yes I think I love her, even with her inexplicable obsession with dental hygiene and her fascination with my crooked big toe. One day soon, I'm going to ask her to be my girl.
