Today marks a huge transition at work today. It's the first time since I've started that I will be working for a new direct supervisor.

Considering the amount of times that other people have shifted over the last 3 years, you would think that it would have happened with me as well, but I've been extremely lucky.

Fortunately, it's someone that I know, and like. That said, I've never worked for her. Someone can be a perfectly nice person and not someone you actually want to have being your boss!

Transitions... hmm. Well, today I told a friend I can only be friends with him. Does that count as a transition? No, probably not. Oh! I know! I used my car to transition between my home and the grocery store so I could buy some food ;)

And I am starting to feel like I should've kept track of how many "firsts" I got in the GR this season...

On Saturday I got an engagement ring (no, I've not gotten photos yet). It's got a gorgeous citrine in the the center (orange is my favorite color). So, I'm guessing one transition today might be actually telling more people at work/school that I'm engaged.

Good luck with the new supervisor. Changing bosses is never easy. I've done it once, and what a stark contrast between supervision styles.

As for transitions in my life, wel.... My grandma is having a very risky surgery today that will tell her if she has cancer. If she does have cancer, it will also be determined what type of cancer she has. The surgery is in her lung. She will be in the hospital at least 5 days with 2 of those days being spent in ICU. Doc says she will be in the most pain she has ever been in her life. He also said the recovery would take 2 to 3 months. Let's not even discuss how this is reeking havoc with my emotions.

No big transitions here. I'd like to transition from waking to sleeping :) I'm currently in that state of consciousness which is like survival swimming... you know, where they teach you to scull on your back? So I feel like I've got just enough energy to scull through the day, but every now and then an extra big wave of fatigue comes along and swamps me and I go under for a second, and come up the other side, spluttering a bit, and wondering where I am.

*yawn*

Anyway, I'm heating soup and buttering bread sticks so that M and I can transition from hungry to sated! (He's having chorizo and bean, I'm having minestrone. Yum).

No transitions today. Tomorrow my family and I are going to scatter my Grandparents' ashes, which I guess is a transition, of sorts, although an odd one.

But today? Today I'm just fighting the mountain of assignments, and really should disconnect the internet or something, because I've just got too much to do :/

I had a rough time last night. Writing my latest piece didn't come easy... and late in the evening I got a phone call from a relative who had a fender-bender while on an international trip, and needs emotional and legal support.

I wish you good luck with the new boss lady! When my company merged with another large publishing company I went from having a manager who was a pretty rotten person but good at getting shit done to having a manager who was a lovely person but horrible at getting shit done. I'd prefer a mix of the two, but I never would have believed I'd want the old manager back.


Also I'm now awake and no longer holding comedychick up from posting her entry for this week, so huzzah! Oh, but riddle me this, LJ Idol friends, should I watch this Game of Thrones tv show? I've never read the books and know nothing about it, but I'm ~curious.

I spent this entire weekend cleaning and setting up my workout space, and actually working out and eating healthy. I haven't stepped on a scale and I won't for awhile. Right now the goal is to stop putting so much junk in my body.

Good luck with the new supervisor, Gary. Change can be a pain in the ass, but it can also open new doors. Here's hoping that it does for you.

Good luck with the new supervisor, Gary. I've been in my current position for 10.5 years now, and have gone through I think 4 supervisors and (including them) 61 co-workers.

Yes, I have a list. For the record, when my team is fully staffed there are a total of 9 people - myself, the boss, and 7 social workers. Need I say that there is a high turnover rate in this job?

There's a pretty high donut rate too, but that's neither here nor there. *wink*

Good Morning Idolers...

The only transition I had this morning was going from asleep to awake. And given the crappy night of sleep I had, that wasn't an easy transition to make. But here I am... at least, a zombified version of me anyway. Everybody's just going to have to deal with my monosyllabic grunting in lieu of actual conversation today.

The awesome news though, is the lovely pixie117 found another one of those Urban Scavenger Hunts like the one we did in LA a couple of weeks ago but down in San Diego in a couple of weeks. I'm so excited. It's going to be a ton of fun and I so cannot wait. Looks like we're going to get another use out of our awesomely Seussical hats!!!

I'm transitioning from constantly working my ass off to keep a few dozen people afloat, to looking forward to my upcoming vacation and not long after that my summer hours.

And I'm transitioning from thinking I was incredibly and fatally fucked with taxes to seeing that I'm getting a refund. I'm still stunned and more relieved than I can convey.
