Thanks to beautyofgrey for the topic last season. It didn't get used then, but it came in handy this week!

It really is getting down to the wire, and unfortunately that does mean that some folks will not be continuing the journey with us.

The stakes continue to go up as the numbers go down.

This week it will be our Top 5 who can go into the main competition and the Bottom 5 who will be eliminated!

I almost didn't make it to the deadline - it doesn't help that the timezone is nothing like mine so I'm never really sure when the deadline is! I should perhaps work that out sometime soon :D

Gotta do better or reading and commenting this week. People have been so good and kind to me on that and I feel neglectful. Even if I knew going in to this Second Chance Idol, i'd have enough to write, but much less to read.

It's why I never signed up for the main season to begin with.

Now... if Gary started coming up with a cash prize? I'd make it my life... but of course everyone would.

Oh dear, I'm so sorry I missed.

I had to go on a volunteering work trip from Sunday morning to Tuesday afternoon. It involved 3 long train rides, 3 cities and sleeping in two different hotels in those three days. And because I live in Europe (time zone difference) and didn't have internet access on the road I only saw the topic when I got home Tuesday evening. I wanted to write something, I really had all the best intentions... but I was so exhausted from the trip I just fell asleep.
When I woke up this morning I was like "Fuuuuu...."

A bye would have been very handy. Too bad I couldn't transfer my 2 byes from the main comp over here.

As time goes on, the home game will get it's own thread. After all, we all become home game eventually!

It might be too late to mention this and even be seen, but I wonder if people would vote for me more if they knew I'm a fictional character? I know I came across as a bit of a jerk in the first couple of entries, so my writer tried to insert some partial truths from his/her life since last week.

In that case, I definitely should've mentioned it earlier. I didn't know how to react to the people who assumed my week 1 entry was fictional because I wanted it to be believable, so I wrote about cheating on a non-existent girlfriend who found out the following week in an attempt to explain why I didn't respond to comments that week! But of course that just made me seem like an even bigger jerk!

I knew "alandunne" was a fictional character, from the name. I am not as good as some at figuring out who the writers are (I tend to let works stand on their own; I read in little bubbles, if that makes sense)

Heh. I think, then, if you had been more familiar with the writer's background, it would have been very easy to guess.

I mean, how many competitors do you know that are Australian, or at least have enough knowledge of a certain part of Australia to be able to write (hopefully) to make it believable to those who live/have been there?

I don't know how obvious it was to other people that I was a fictional character, though.

Too much IRL to keep stuff straight. Something your writer and I are going to have in common, I suspect.
