Afterparty/Friending Frenzy

A couple people asked "Hey, are we having the traditional Afterparty???" I figured most of you were asleep by this point! ;)

But for the people still willing to stagger in for one last gasp - here's a little something.

Before we get to that though, a little housekeeping business.

Is there going to be a Season 7? - The BIG question that everyone asks.

Barring anything unforeseen - YES, there will be a Season 7.

When? It won't be for a few months. I don't have a date yet. Still recharging from this one! (Actually still doing housekeeping from this one, haven't had the chance to put it down yet.)

Tampa Oddcon - October 8th - 10th http://tampabay-oddcon.com/ I will be a guest. Several Idolers will be there doing a panel and the published ones will be signing copies of their books. It's going to be the largest in person gathering of Idol folks since, well, since ever. Times are tough, but I hope that anyone who *is able* to make it comes out! Come on - FLORIDA in October! You know you want to do it!! :) UPDATE:Unfortunately due to circumstances outside our control apparently Oddcon has been postponed. As soon as a new date is set in stone, I will announce it.

I can do this thing!

So, I don't intend on de-friending anyone I've already friended. I know a few people have mentioned that in the past few days. But I didn't friend anyone just to follow them during Idol; I friended people I genuinely want to keep up with.

I post a lot of random stuff to my LJ, although I've been a little quiet lately with moving and stuff, but I expect to get back on the wagon soon.

My journal is totally public with the exception of really personal stuff which is usually filtered down even more than just f-lock, so pretty much anyone who wants to follow me can, even if I don't friend you back right away. I usually friend people after I've gotten a chance to know them pretty well, and I do have trouble keeping up with my flist, so don't take it personally if I don't friend you in return. It doesn't mean I dislike you, just that I don't feel I know you super well. But I welcome people reading my journal and I don't ignore people!

For the most part, I've been pretty quiet in my own journal - nothing really earth-shaking is going on right now, just super busy - but I always enjoy reading along and commenting now and then.

Although I will say that you will never see Justin Bieber in my journal. Just sayin'.

Awwwww, Gary. From what I've heard through the grapevines all season, this is probably the first time you've actually said so early that there's a good chance that another season is in the horizon. ♥ to you! :D

As for the friending frenzy, (which is REALLY hard to say 5x fast), I would really love to friend some people I haven't yet, so you might get some random friendings soon. Others I'm still too timid to ask, so if you want me to friend you please let me know! :D

Warning. I post. A LOT. Sometimes 6-7 times a day. But I'm also a really good commenter. I try to comment on all your posts, as a general rule of mine. :) And I come with cookies. ;)

I know I dropped out fairly earlier but if anyone wishes to friend go for it. I love new people and post usually once a day and read all the time and try to comment just as much as I read.

My journal is a mix of day to day stuff, a few memes here and there and photos I taken of late. Hopefully I will eventually be able to start blubbering on about school but that will happen once I finally get to student teach.

Hopefully if there is a season 7 I will be able to play and stick around longer.

As much as I wanted to friend several people this season, my decision not to during the season was based on not wanting to be seen as "playing favorites" even though I didn't play -- your game, not mine! (and yes, I realize all that sounds convoluted and something-or-other, but that's just but one example of my somewhat convoluted thought process. Or something like that).

Me? I've got semi-regular "kizzyness" posts where everything is up for grabs. I tend to post recipes in spurts. I guess I'd say I'm half an amused observer of Life, a quarter introspection, a quarter "I've gotta vent about this" , and a whole lotta "Come join the ride!" I'm also mostly Friends Only, so don't let that throw you.

Hi! Yes it really is Bax! Life has been a whirlwind of late so not much time to party in here. But I wanted to let people know that they are welcome to friend me if they so desire. I'm hoping to get back to my routine soon (whatever that is!).

I wish I could go to Florida but due to time and budget it isn't possible. I hope all who go have a great time.
Even though I was quiet toward the end of this season, I had a lot of fun and met some really great people!

There had BETTER be a season 7! Where would I be without the combined pressure of LJ Idol, NaNoWriMo, and Brigit's Flame breathing down my neck for the month of December? I don't know as I could do without the cries of "Oh, gods, not again!" as I frantically try to slip in under the deadline while basting a turkey, wrapping presents...and suddenly discovering that my husband's very expensive gift is in the oven and the turkey has just been wrapped.

I'm still trying to persuade Dorie to re-join, but Dee and I will be there.

That convention is only three hours from me. I shall attempt to be there, Dorie and I (no-go on convincing Dee to go anywhere near a convention...he's already said he's spending the entire Labor Day weekend locked in our room with books because he doesn't want to deal with the people).

I would have liked to make it to the conference. I'll actually be in Orlando the previous weekend, but we're leaving on Oct 4, and I couldn't find anyone to watch my kids for a few extra days. It was hard enough to get them covered for Sept 30-Oct 4.

I'm looking forward to the option of Season 7. If there's any hesitation for me to participate it will be the baby's due date in December, but having seen other contestants go through that, I know it's not impossible.

As for the friending, I'm always happy to gain friends. I generally friend the people who friend me first, unless I have no idea who they are. I have no plans of dropping the friends I met on LJI. My journal consists or lots of random posts about my adventures, many pictures from everyday life, and trip reports. Lately, I haven't been posting as much because I'm ATTEMPTING to get through my trip reports from our April vacation, but hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

Finally, (and boy is this getting long for a GR post), I just want to thank Gary for organizing LJI and thank all of the contestants for making it such a fun and memorable experience!

Hi Guys!
I am totally open to receiving friend requests. I have friended some people along the way this season, but I know there are cool and interesting people out there whom I've probably missed meeting and reading regularly. I write about my teaching experiences a lot. Also my family and the process of composing and next promoting my memoir book, REUNIONS. It's about growing up as an adopted kid in the 60s-80s and how I found my birth fam.
Huge thanks to Gary for being incredibly organized and willing. Very nice to meet you.

I'm so sorry that I've been away. I missed all the excitement at the end. :-(

I had to drop out last March because of medical issues. Well, I didn't "have to" but six of the eight pills I was taking every day were causing depression. And, I went long periods of doing nothing until that was corrected.

And, since then I've been catching up on all the work I let slide both in the office and in my writing. LJ became a very low priority. I think I've averaged signing in once or twice a month since then.

But, I intend to get back on here and resume writing. There are plenty of "Flames About This High" that I want to talk about as I get the time.

Anyone who wants to Friend me is welcome. I usually Friend back anyone who shows up. I went over a year not Friending Jack Batelin, for example. ;-)

Also, if anyone wants to join my FaceBook, send me a private message and I'll send you a link. I don't post there often, and it is usually geeky or obscure, or an in-joke of some sort. On the other hand, I'm willing to be FarmVille and Cafe World neighbors. So, if you don't get my reference when I post, "Did Alex Riely just do an F-5?" at least you'll get wooden boards and science books. :-)

I had a lot of people add me early on, where it seemed like people were adding everyone. I didn't add back all of those people, because I didn't know who wanted to know me and who was doing it out of convenience.

Anyway, if anyone has been hoping that I would be their friend--chances are, I'd like that very much.

My journal is... yesterday I quipped: "My journal is like the Care Bears meet the House on Ash Tree Lane, full of unpredictable meanderings down strange unknown paths all leading to rainbows and hope." Recently I've been posting about trying to simplify my life in terms of possessions, my spiritual journeying, turning my ideals into reality, getting more politically involved, my wacky adventures...
