Good morning.

Unless of course it's not morning when you are reading this, in which case get with the program slacker!

Sure, you might be "in another part of the world", but it's really no excuse!

They say we make our own realities, so just go outside and brush that sun back into the sky. Use watercolor if you have it - but magic marker will work just as well.

***
Welcome to the "day before the deadline" - have you been reading the entries up so far? http://community.livejournal.com/therealljidol/365631.html As of this morning 3 of the partners have posted. 3 completely new writers to the Idol universe. Please take the time to go over, read them, and say hello!!

Someone did it for you. You should return that favor and do it for someone else! :)

***

So, how was your week? I know a couple people are moving. Are the rest standing still? Sitting still? Sitting down for this?

***

Happy Birthday to our own [livejournal.com profile] justkimu!!

Pedantically, it's mid-afternoon here in England, and rather lovely weather too. (:

Good luck to the remaining contestants. This time is crazy and stressful, but use that stress to inspire some crazy entries!

I am moving my fingers on the keyboard! Next week I will be moving my belongings into an exciting new apartment.

I've only read two entries and didn't bother to comment. Yeah, I'm a slacker. :P But I've been focused on my two Home Game projects for the week. One's been posted but I'm waiting on someone else before I can post the second. Such is life.

This weekend is going to be hectic for me. It's already Friday night here. Tomorrow I have to go to a Mac shop to discuss options since it turns out my iMac's logic board is fried, and I don't know if it's better to replace that or get a whole new iMac. If new iMacs don't come with FireWire ports, though, like my husband seems to think, my decision will be made for me (ie, replace the logic board). Then I need to do some shopping and pick up something [livejournal.com profile] theafaye recommended for my heartburn, and I want to check out a geek thing at another shop. Somewhere along the way (probably Sunday), I also want to check out the hospital where I'll be giving birth.

I hate busy weekends when pregnancy already makes me feel like shit and not want to leave the house. :/

No, new iMacs do not have firewire.

I feel bad that I haven't done any reading this week, but there's just been too much else going on.

Take care of yourself! <3

D: That sucks. I certainly don't want to pay for a PowerMac. :/ Firewire is absolutely required for me because without it I can't use one of my external hard drives, and I can't import video from my Sony HD camera. At least I don't think I have any alternatives because I've only ever used firewire with them.

Eh, that's just life sometimes, don't beat yourself up for it :D

Thanks <3

I think they make a converter cable, because I was looking into it at one point. I just don't know how much they cost.

I guess I will ask about it when I go into the store today and make it known firewire is a must for me. But with all these added expenses it just seems like the best option right now will be to have the logic board replaced.

Date: 2010-07-17 07:06 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] comedychick.livejournal.com
Yeah, they still have Firewire ports, they're just firewire 800 rather than 400. They do have adapters but I realised my external drive has firewire 800 as well as 400, and then I found a firewire -> USB cable for like 1/10th of the cost of the adapter, so I ended up being convinced to go ahead and get the new iMac.

I haven't read any entries yet. I'll get there though.

Thanks. Sounds like from Tea I'm just going to have to replace the logic board. At least it'll save me money now.

Heh, I haven't looked yet, but it sounded like it was common so I'm sure we should be able to find it. I mean, I've even found eucalyptus oil here, which I was a little surprised about. :D

Hi from Chicago! It's an hour earlier here than it is supposed to be, but oh well. I'm uber excited - [livejournal.com profile] sra33 is driving up here to meet me!! W00t! She seems like such a cool chick, I hope we like each other! We'll be meeting at a nifty little historic-type shopping town called Long Grove around 1-ish this afternoon, and spending the afternoon together. Shopping, girl-time, good food - what more could I want?

Hope everyone else's day goes as well. Heading down to get some breakfast now. TTFN!

I have read two of the partner entries so far, and I really enjoyed them. What a fun week, to get some fresh blood and to also get little insights into some of the important people in the lives of current contestants!

My week has flown by! I woke up yesterday and my muscle pain from wakeboarding was almost gone. So I went grocery shopping, which I'd been putting off all week because of my arm/shoulder pain. Of course, then I foolishly tried to pick up a big bag of cat food (16 lbs) and put it on the conveyor belt with one hand. Now my right forearm is in worse shape than it was in the first place. I can't even open my car door with that hand.

Lessons will be repeated until learned! LoL

Ugh. I have felt better, but I am trying not to let things slow me down. I have a bunch of writing to finish today, since tomorrow will be spent at the lab and catching up on the yard work I have let slide the last week or so.

I am not looking forward to tomorrow. At least, not until I get the chance to read the entries.

I'm becoming more and more and more convinced that those damn Mayans were right. Some of the most bizarre weather I can remember here in Southern California... earthquakes in the DC area... lots and lots o' weirdness. It was like a billion degrees when I left my house (which ain't too far from the coast mind you) this morning... cruising along the freeway, it got colder and then it freaking rained for a stretch of about a mile... none before or after... just rain in that one mile-long stretch. And this after one bizarre evening. The world is totally ending. Damn those Mayans.

Party it up folks, time is running short!!! Of course, I'm sure that Gary will discount anything the Mayans said because... you know... they're foreigners and all. :-p

The Mayans have lots of theories, not just that one :P I love Mayan history, and learned a lot when I toured the ruins. It doesn't mean the worlds coming to an end in that sense you silly history major.... :P

But yeah, weird weather makes me wonder sometimes....

I hope to be moving soon. Like very soon. Next week soon if I had my way, but that doesn't seem likely....but before August, I hope to be squared away in my new apartment in Newport Beach, CA :) (okay, I have to ace the final interview and that hasn't even been scheduled yet, but it will be!)

Other than that, I'll finish editing my home game piece and hopefully my little threesome can post our stuff soon :)

I've read all three partner entries and I hope they all sign up next time because they're definitely going to give us all a run for our money. I think it's interesting that they all chose to write fiction and they're all very diverse in their style and approach.

Today I am taking the older two to see Marmaduke. I was going to do it one evening when my husband got home from work but soon realised that that was the most stupid idea I'd ever had. Miss Three will be very upset that she's being left home, but I have my doubts as to whether it will engage the older two, let alone her, and since she ran up and down the aisles during Toy Story 3 last week, I'm not risking it, especially since I move at the speed of waddle!

Let me know how Marmaduke is? I've been thinking about taking my son to see it because, well, the dog is voiced by Owen Wilson, I believe, and I like him XD

It's surprisingly good. It wasn't what I expected from the trailers - I thought it was about a surfing dog but the surfing is one scene in the movie and it's more about learning to be true to yourself rather than changing to fit in. The children loved it, but I left the younger two at home - I don't think it would have appealed to them. But the focus is very much on the dogs, which makes it good for kiddies. My son found the big drama scene at the end a bit scary, but he loved the rest of it and the farting jokes were always good for a giggle.

I've got probably a similar film I haven't seen on DVD here that I might put on for him first to see how he goes with that, then, to decide if he might be able to sit through Marmaduke. I'm glad to hear it's good though!

Any film that features talking animals should cover it. Beverley Hills Chihuahua, for example (again, not as bad as you might think!) or Cats and Dogs would give you a good idea as to whether it will hold his attention.

That's good. I've got something about a dog called Aussie (something like Aussie and Ted's Big Adventure or something). I haven't heard of it before, it just happened to be on a multi-movie pirate DVD I picked up for another movie I wanted to see. I don't think I've got anything else - Babe and Napoleon were VHS tapes in my home so I don't have those here!

We have a bit of a joke in our house at the moment that whenever I lumber along, you need to imagine timpani accompanying every step. Duummm, duummm! Duummm, duummm!
