Green Room - Week 34 - 3
Jul. 15th, 2010 08:23 amI write like A. Whiteguy.
Antonio Whiteguy was the first person to actually put chalk to the wall to write down a word. Most people don't know this. But it's a proven historical fact (that I just made up)- I'm sure you can find it on Wikipedia. (see also: the threat of bears)
That word that he wrote, creating the written language was unfortunately lost to us because (1) he was a doctor and thus no one could read what he wrote (2) No one had invented reading yet (3) He wrote it in red and green and people back then were color blind.
When it comes to "being color blind", I'm with Mitch Hedberg:
"You know when it comes to racism, people say: " I don't care if they're black, white, purple or green"... Ooh hold on now: Purple or Green? You gotta draw the line somewhere! To hell with purple people! - Unless they're suffocating - then help 'em."

Also, I don't go to the city. :( Guess I'm not pretty enough... *pout*
I really have nothing to say. I enjoy rambling. How's everyone else doing? :D

Date: 2010-07-15 03:12 pm (UTC)That tar pit would later be filled in and they would build The Globe Theatre. During that construction, the plays were unearthed by a time traveling Joseph Fiennes, who published them under the name "Will the Shake of Pears". No one knows what that was supposed to mean. It didn't matter since someone wrote down the wrong name anyway.

Date: 2010-07-15 01:57 pm (UTC)Yesterday the doggie I've been living with was not doing so well. It seems like today might be another bad day. He had lyme disease before my friend adopted him, and it wasn't treated for a long time, so now he's got a lot of joint problems (he's also half great dane, so his bone structure ain't so hot to start). Anyway, it's kind of stressful, because now I'm worrying about him a lot, too. And it's hard, because animals can't tell you what's wrong or what they need.

Date: 2010-07-15 02:32 pm (UTC)It's my opinion that the further away one gets from the origin of a specific food, the worse it tends to be. Buffalo wings are best in Buffalo; Chicago-style pizza is best in Chicago.
One of these days I'm going to go to Switzerland and see if their Swiss cheese is any better than what we get here!

Date: 2010-07-15 06:28 pm (UTC)But I digress...
People calling in to my office today are annoying me. I had a couple of people call in, not like the answers I gave them and then call back a few minutes later hoping to speak to somebody else to get a "different" answer. Being that there's only two of us in my office, they'll just have to learn to deal with the answer I gave them. Idiots.

Date: 2010-07-15 06:38 pm (UTC)Stupid people are stupid. Period. They ask stupid questions because they are stupid, and they go and prove it even more do by calling in again. Perhaps I should call in and ask some questions so you could talk to someone smart for a change! lol

There are so many writers out there that there is no way everyone can know them all. Which in turn feeds the idea of just following/being aware of a select few. (Apparently there are people out there who didn't know Harry Harrison, which was amazing to me, having spent some time in my teenage years obsessed with the Stainless Steel Rat series. Of course - that just means that they were reading people that *I* had never heard about!!)
Who are some of the authors *you* enjoy that more people need to check out???

Date: 2010-07-15 07:24 pm (UTC)(this will sound ignorant but..) since he is famous, I wasn't sure I would enjoy it but it's a really good book. It was one I couldn't put down and Irving ties all the elements together so well in the end, it's just...amazing.
I really like it when everything that seems disconnected becomes important in the end.

Date: 2010-07-15 08:01 pm (UTC)On the bright side, working from home meant that I could take a ten minute break to eat pretzels covered in frosting while topless on my couch.
Hoping I can settle a case tonight. It's going to be a hard sell to the client, but it's really in her best interest, so we'll see.
