Green Room - Week 27 - 3

Gary called me this morning and asked me to post the Green Room today.  Partly because he wouldn't be able to and partly because he wanted me to prove that I was still alive.  :-)

I would like to point out that I am, at this time, heavily medicated so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

I should have posted this a few hours ago when I got home, but I felt like I got hit by a truck so I felt slumping on the couch was a better idea.

Anyone a fan of garage sales?  We had one this weekend, my two older sisters, my two oldest nieces and myself.  I made over half of what I need for a new table & chairs so that's a win for me.  I love going garage saling too.  I don't buy much, but it's neat to look over what people have.

So anyway, a late Green Room tonight.

As far as garage sales, I hosted one last year, but it was a flop since I live on a hard-to-find road and everyone else was having a yard sale the same weekend. Going to garage sales is so tempting, but I have so much stuff already--why get more?

Seriously, who thought it was a good idea for the kidneys to make stones that are more painful than childbirth and why were they not giving only to men? :)

It took me about 4 weeks to actually sort through everything I wanted to sell, but my basement is much more open now and I've got a few more boxes of my Grandma's things to transfer into storage bins for easier organization. My summer project is getting that done.

Now if only I could get my friend to get her stuff out of my basement. I've only been storing it for 2.5 years or so. Maybe next year my garage sale will consist of her things. ;-)

One thing I found out when the docs realized my hypocalcemia isn't going anywhere was that I'll never have kidney stones. You only get those if your body manufactures an overabundance of calcium. It's such a delicate balancing act and the window of the "normal" area is very small -- I can't recall the numbers at the moment, but I think it's less than a 10-point spread.

ANYWAY.

Want to come over here and organize my stuff? Every time we've tried to do it we end up in a fight because what one wishes to discard the other wants to keep :grrrrrr:

I'm excellent and getting rid of things. I usually packrat everything for a year and then purge. My niece even went through her toys and went from 4 baskets down to 2.

You'd probably both hate me at the end. ;-)

I love paring stuff down too...it's just that fighting somebody with hoarding tendencies is the issue. I'll stop right there before I rant :grrr:

Garage sales can be cool, however, there is nothing I need nor want so I try to steer clear of them because I always end up with random stuff I didn't actually need.

Mostly I keep my eye out for things for the little girl I babysit. She's walking now so I've been looking for bigger toys for her to play with when she's here. Also some "messy" clothes for her to use when we're playing on the lawn.

Speaking of cookies, making them is on my agenda for the day which means no percocet until they are done. Or maybe none at all. I'm about to jinx myself and say that my kidney is relatively pain free at the moment.

Since it seems unlikely we are going to have a home game topic post... It's a combination "Sometimes Why" and explaining to my friends list how I was eliminated post. On a side note, being eliminated has somehow freed my mind, as I have written 2 different pieces today, not including this one:

It is lovely, is it not? I'm supposed to take one every 4 hours but they only gave me 12 so I've been trying to use them sparingly.

I am also extremely paranoid about addiction, even with just 12.

I get vicodin from my doc for my migraines and I'm very careful with that too. We have an agreement that I get 1 bottle a year and if I need more than that, I am to head back to the neurologist for re-evaluation.

I usually have some leftover at the end of the year so it hasn't been a problem yet.

We need to get rid of some stuff so we can get new stuff. So a garage sale sounds like a great idea. The work? So not worth it though at times. It requires way too much energy for this poor body of mine.

This time it was worth the work. I've been needing a new table and chairs. Some of the things that didn't sell I'm going to put on craigslist and hopefully make a little more money for the cause.

I will try to comment more often, but with my day job I try to stay off LJ and I babysit a 1 year old in the evenings. She usually wants to try to "help" when I'm on the computer which mostly means trying to eat the keyboard. :)

Lost finale in 12 hours! Squee!! Also, :(.

I love the show and can't wait for the finale, but then it is over and I do not like.

However, thanks to Netflix and the Wii, I can watch them all over again from the beginning. :)

I never got into Lost. Last night they were doing a mini-marathon on ABC, though, and I watched a little of it. There was a ticker-tape like thing running under the scenes explaining at what point in time the action was taking place, whether it was a flashback, etc. Unfortunately I caught it just as the plane was going to crash, so I switched stations. I'm no good at watching stuff like that :eek:
