Week 26 Immunity
May. 18th, 2010 11:25 pmThe results are in.
Each week, the recently eliminated contestants are asked to read the entries and cast a special vote separate from the polls.
This vote is for the coveted immunity. No contestant can receive it twice.
Not only is it a nod from the people you, until recently, were battling out with in the trenches. It is them (collectively) saying that they want to see you stick around for another week.
This week, since there are two polls, there are two immunities to be handed out. I asked the jury to send me their top 3 picks from each topic.
What I did *not* mention to the jury was that they were making the person selected immune from *both polls*. Immunity works on a week to week basis. So they will be advancing regardless.
PLEASE still read their entries, and comment, if you haven't already. Obviously the jury thought enough of them to give them a special mention, so it's worth taking a look if you haven't already done so.
Once again, it was CLOSE for both polls. Both of them came down to the tie-breaker based on the rank (1-3) that I asked them to assign to each of their favorites and *both* won immunity by a slim margin.
But there was a decision reached, based on those rankings.
The winners of immunity for Week 26 are

Date: 2010-05-19 04:32 am (UTC)I was going to say, it's like a gift of not having to refresh the poll over and over again, but I'm probably still going to refresh it over and over again because I'm concerned about some of the people near the bottom. So much for that, haha!

Date: 2010-05-19 04:28 am (UTC)This week of Idol has been kind of magical for me after so many weeks of being near the bottom of the polls, crazy refreshing in the last half-hour, and somehow managing to hang on by, in at least one case, as few as a single vote. This week, when I saw that we had two topics and that one of them was an open topic, I felt sure that this was going to be my last week in the game, and I decided what the heck, if it's going to be my last week, I might as well go crazy with my entries. In the end, one of them was a crazily-formatted entry in a genre I never, ever write in, and I was worried that the other would be poorly received because it contained too many cut-and-paste emails that were individually inane.
I have been so honored and gratified by the responses I've gotten to these entries, both as comments and in the polls, and now to get immunity too... I am just so grateful to everyone. I feel like no matter what happens from here on out, I'm going to remember this week as the one week in two seasons of LJ Idol when I somehow finally, unexpectedly, inexplicably managed to get things right.
That means so much to me. Again, thank you all so much. <3
