Results - Week 22

Every week, with every vote - there is the potential to completely change the landscape of the competition.

Every time different groups of people gather to read and make decisions, that decision has the potential to come out differently.

Some people believe and embrace that. Others do not.

I hold to the idea that anything can happen, and sometimes people have off weeks. Sometimes people have weeks that they don't think are off weeks and other people disagree - heck, sometimes it's not so much an "off" week as much as it is that someone else had a week that was just that little bit more appealing for whatever reason.

Regardless of the outcome though, every single person that made it to this round should be proud and I hope that you are.

Now though, we come to the saddest part of our week - saying goodbye. At this stage of the game no one who is left isn't *someone's* favorite, which means every single week it is going to be tough. This week... well, this week is pretty big...

This really drives home the point for me that right now we are really down to the last man standing. Seriously, I would have pegged both onda_bianca and drjeff to be above me. But, one shaky post and there you go. cheshire23 has grown to be one of my favorites in the entire competition, and damn, I'm gonna miss stormkitty. It's just gonna get worse, isn't it?

Thank you for your support this season, it truly means a great deal to me. Luckily, "goodbye" only means in the "polls only" part of the competition. I look forward to getting to know my Idol friends outside of Idol posts. :)

The eliminations were very close overall - and a total of *3 contestants* DID NOT CAST A VOTE.

It just goes to show, once again, every single vote counts and everyone is someone's favorite!

These are people who seem to have always had a strong fan base and a lot of support, I would have expected them carried through to the end of the competition.

I don't even know what to say. :(

I will say, though, that I have really enjoyed stormkitty's personal stories (particularly her entry about the house that tries to kill her), chesire23's always thought-provoking posts (whether it be on the myth of "bad neighborhoods" or the actual diversity with academic literature courses), onda_bianca's fun and rhythmic tales (I was especially fond of her basset hound entry!), and good lord, last but not least, drjeff's easy-going and whimsical style - I loved his "Crap Hell Ranch" entry, but also his "Failure to Communicate".

I am floored. A LOT of people's final five lists have been altered today, I am sure. But I guess that's the ever-changing nature of this game...

Everyone, though, should be really proud to have made it this far. And I hope to see you all play the Home Game (when I drag my ass over there to play it myself, ha, I'll see you there). If not, I'm going to miss some of the serious talent that's been floating around this place.

Part of me wants to reveal "the top 15" (people who were definitely in the safe zone combined from both tribes). But listing those would, by default, mean that if you weren't on the list than you know you weren't safe... I know people tend to email me to ask if they were safe or not.

But I'm not sure if they would want to know *in public*. If I hear back from ALL of the remaining contestants that it's OK to release that Top 15 I will do so. If not, you can email me to find out if you were safe or not.

That was fun. This kind of caps off a weird couple of days in which I had a great annual physical, got a tetanus shot, and then lost most of yesterday to a high fever due to said tetanus shot. I didn't even get a chance to vote, as I was not in "hanging out on the computer" condition yesterday and slept pretty late this morning.
