Results - Week 21 Run Off

When taking the votes into account there are some "questionable" voting taking place. I mentioned it in the thread in hopes that the people involved would turn around and remove them. That didn't happen.

However I don't think the contestants were even aware of it in the slightest, and since it happened in more than one person's favor and the totals ended up being so close, I am declaring that it was a tie.

pricelessone goes forward to the next round of course, but __rosieposie and lyrical_liessss will be writing the tie breaker of a tie-breaker I Got a Rock!!

Sorry that it came down to that. But I know that neither of you would want that sort of thing to decide your fate. You are both amazing writers, and from what I know of you, people - and clearly "the people" out there feel strongly about keeping you around, for good reason. You both more than deserve to take one more shot at it even if unrelated people decided to be stupid.

So there you go - one more round! (and non-general public voting. I usually don't announce that, and not saying if it's community only or contestant, or Gary only voting for that matter! :P)

Ack, I really hoped it wouldn't happen any more after it was rampant in season 3 but seemed to taper off when people realised you were on to it. Such a shame it happens again.

Good luck to both _rosieposie and lyrical_liessss. I really enjoyed their run-off entries, so I'm looking forward to voting in the next one!

The most blatant abuse of it was Season 4 actually.

The one from Season 3 was people getting too excited, whereas Season 4 they were "trying to prove a point".

No, Gary said it was journals that looked like they'd just been made specifically to vote, so I'm guessing as long as you're a legitimate human, you're not the problem. My dad has an account that he made pretty much JUST to vote for me and Gary's never questioned him as being suspicious. I think there are plenty of other people who aren't super active LJ users but who check out as legit.

It's also never been a matter of "making a difference in the results". If it did, you might want to make *sure* that I know which one is him.

After all, my Mom has an LJ account she's never used other than to read my LJ and vote. So I totally understand that it happens.

My husband has an inactive account and sometimes votes, sometimes doesn't. Should I make you aware of him? He's jmrck5

Same goes with my mom. I never ask her to vote for me, but I plug away on FB sometimes and she might. Her account is strictly for reading communities , she only posts like once or twice a year. She might vote sometime, I don't know because I never came out and asked. I don't know her name for sure, I think it's something like wills_mom? I can getback to you on that. I'm her only friend besides communities.

Since I ask people on FB to check out my entry and consider voting, I'm not sure what kinds of people might vote for me. I'd imagine the same could go for almost everyone. I hadn't thought about that when posting about the contest there (I haven't done it often though)

Seems to me, from what Gary said, that the problem is not from people's family members voting from accounts they don't use very often (in which case it's usually fairly easy to figure out, since they probably have listed the contestant as their friend), but say, if somebody created multiple accounts JUST to vote for themselves or for a friend.
