Finally finished Angela's Ashes. I shouldn't be on here because I should be going to bed early. I started Third Wish (a series of 5 books). So far it's intriguing, but I can't make any recommendations yet. I can say that it was inspired by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Milan Kundera and it was written by Robert Fulgram.
So... haven't asked in a while. What's everyone else reading outside of Idol?
I have my surgery tomorrow. We have to be there at 8, and the surgery center is a little over an hour away, so we're going to try to leave the house around 6. I got a shower today and my girlfriend shaved my legs, which is awesome. My toenails are polish free for the first time in probably 3 years - they look icky!
I'm doing laundry only because I don't feel like going commando to work tomorrow... ;) Want to throw a load over here? I can toss it in the washer for you...
Already dreading the evil that is Valentine's day. Hoping my life can snap out of the downward spiral it seems to be in lately! Trying to decide if I have any kind of home game entry for this week. Other than that, I'm ok. lol
Ah, the night started out blissful as Brando surprised me with tickets to see The Pink Floyd Experience. It was pretty bitchin'.
THEN, we get home to find out that a storm messed up the tivo and we only caught the last 18 minutes of Lost. It's downloading now but will take 9 hours! Really? Geesh... so now, I'm banned from going to several sites that I frequent because spoilers KILL ME! Grrr...
You can always go up the thread and help drive theafaye crazy by posting random plot points of other television shows using the names of Lost characters! That's a way to kill time *and* avoid actual spoilers!!!
Work without L yesterday was sucktastic. I kept getting the "stink-eye" from everyone, but today they were back to their normal selves. I guess it just shocked everyone... No one has mentioned it at all.
I'm off to fold laundry (I was out of undies and socks), then to sleep. Gotta get up early and finally buy gas for the first time since before Christmas. Because when you only drive 3 minutes to work, it takes a helluva long time to get through a Cavalier's tank of gas.
Well, you know Gary is sneaky after all, right? He will pop in whenever he does, and throw curveballs throughout the competition, whddyah expect? *grin*
*stumbles into green room and gropes for coffee* Is it Friday yet? I want this 3 day weekend badly!
Yesterday was a good day. imafarmgirl and I went to speak to 2 3rd grade classes. The kids had some really good questions. Also went out with friends last night.
*coffee is not working. Looks for caffeine IV drip*
Yesterday was good. We had a tornado warning in the middle of work last night (a week before the siren was supposed to be tested, natch!), and several people came into the room where I was working and asked what we were supposed to do when that happened. Luckily I remembered from past experience.
I get a lot of compliments on my cane, because it's not the bendy aluminum kind like House uses, but a walking stick made of dogwood with a unique twirly pattern where a honeysuckle vine grew around the living dogwood tree.
Anyway, so last night I was waiting to cross the street when two loud guys came up behind me. One of them was in his forties or fifties and we had the usual compliment/thanks for compliment portion of the conversation, which is as far as it normally goes.
This guy, however, proceeded to tell me that I should put some shellac on the cane in order to give it a nice, shiny finish. He told me about "this biker dude" he used to know who could find "great trees out in the forest" (really? What a very odd place to find trees!) and varnish them all shiny. I made eye contact, nodded, and gave him my best "I'm taking you seriously, really I am" face throughout this. When he finished I said, "Well, cool! Have a good one!" and continued going my own direction -- I was, after all, headed to work.
So the random compliments, no problem, but the random fashion tips, weird. That would be like going up to a person with a service dog and suggesting they have leopard spots dyed into the dog's fur because it would look cool. o_O

Well, it WOULD! [tongue firmly in cheek]
I get the occasional comment when I "braid" my Sexy Black Spy Cane or give it a ribbon fall.
It figures that I do my first Home Game entry yesterday and there was no Green Room to post it in. LOL
Here it is. (http://thenodrin.livejournal.com/91347.html)
This is a fictionalized account of real things that happened. I'm making some assumptions on the part of how certain people feel and playing around with the time line, but for the most part this is a real story.
