Finally finished Angela's Ashes. I shouldn't be on here because I should be going to bed early. I started Third Wish (a series of 5 books). So far it's intriguing, but I can't make any recommendations yet. I can say that it was inspired by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Milan Kundera and it was written by Robert Fulgram.
So... haven't asked in a while. What's everyone else reading outside of Idol?
I think you know, but I'll say for all the green room. I'm reading a book called The Inheritance of Loss, which seems to be largely about a small group of Nepalis rebelling against India, and several other things such as poorer folks escaping illegally to the US. It's a good book thus far. Almost done with it.
Awesome! Yeah, I'm broadening my horizons these days, trying to get beyond the contemporary fiction I usually read. I even read some Hemmingway a couple months ago. Had to slog through that one, but I did.
Um... no. The main character in these is apparent a Character who's first name is Harry. Harry Dresdan or something. I might not be spelling it right. the reader, you know.
I see. I feel sorta dumb now. I do remember that being separate from Slaughterhouse-Five. However, I knew that the book I got it confused with had an alternate title, and I wondered if that's what it was.
Anyway, no, I haven't read it. And I feel dumb for getting them confused. I can't blame no coffee because I don't drink coffee! So I'm going to blame it on the rain Mili Vanilli style.
I started the first few pages of "The Corset Diaries" and I find the writing to be gunk. It's not even trying to be colloquialism in a clever off-hand sort of way.
Just finished "Austenland" by Shannon Hale and LOVED it. So many have tried to capture the Jane Austen spirit by carrying her characters forward in an awkward way, but Hale delights with modernizing Austen and capturing the essence of her writing.
Outside of Idol, and LJ in general I am not reading much. I'm way behind on the Comics Should Be Good blog. I do read a lot of Wikipedia, and websites used to cite sources for Wiki info.
But, for the most part, I'm too busy writing other things. I got an idea for a title a few months ago and only recently got an idea for a plot to go with it. I had decided that the title was too good not to use.
Just getting into The Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong, and still trying to find time to get through Kate Forsyth's Witches of Eileanan series.
