Thank you to everyone who has commented over the last couple of days with your thoughts on Idol. I assure you that I've balled them all up and thrown them in the trash. ;)

Or maybe I'm considering what has been said and what I think will work with Season 10 (or just going forward in general)

Results - Week 25

There were a few minutes, around 8:30, that I had no idea what I was going to be saying tonight.

I thought I knew, coming into today, but there was a strong surge that made me wonder.

That said, the results are in and the final two are set.

But before we get there, we have to say goodbye to two awesome people, who are also talented writers.

One is a veteran and the other is the last remaining newbie.

Newbies have never won a mini-season (in contrast to the regular seasons, where a veteran has only won 2 of 9!) so there were definitely times I wondered if orockthro was going to be the one to break that curse. She wasn't, but she sure gave it a damn good run, and was the last remaining Avocado standing!

The other Avocado is also leaving, having come further than she has ever been in a season, mini-season or anything (she also did really well in Exhibit B) . There was *a lot* of buzz that she could be the winner. Who knows what would have happened if RL had not sideswiped her.

She is kathrynrose and she too is leaving us. (*kicks her on the way out*)

Thanks to both of you for your time and dedication - but most of us, for giving us weeks of awesome things to read!

I hope we will continue to see you in the "10th anniversary celebration" and of course when Season 10 kicks off later this year!

It's the last week of Friends and Rivals.

For 25 weeks, we have had multiple topic choices, picked from suggestions by the contestants.

There are so many ways this finale could have played out, but in this case, it's going to be the standard for a mini-season:

Our Finalists

I couldn't have planned this if I tried. I certainly didn't have it as "this is going to happen" on my radar when I started the season.

I called it "Friends and Rivals" and we end up with people who are *actually* friends, who are "rivals" in terms of now competing head to head for the title.

One of them started on a team of "Friends". The other started as a "Rival".

One came back into the game via Second Chance and the other started a second life on LJ under a new identity!

One has never been a finalist before - and the other took second place in Season 9. (our most recent season)!

One actually was one of the people who came up with the idea for this mini season! The other... did not. ;)

One man. One woman.

Both are Well known for being really good at fiction AND non-fiction. (and pretty much anything else they decide to tackle)

There is a ton of LJ history between these two and I am a huge fan of both of them. Not only as writers, but as human beings.

Congratulations to gratefuladdict and prog_schlock for making it to the finals!
