I recently had a conversation with a friend where I asked her if she had ever considered going back to old non-fiction/journal entries and rewriting them from the perspective that she has now.

She said "No" and then offered to send me cookies. (That's MY recollection of events at least, and that's the one we are going with)

It struck me that it's the writing equivalent of "If you could go back and change anything, knowing what you know now - what would you change and why?" But without the TARDIS.

I know there are plenty of things that I've said, or done, in the past where what I said at the time isn't how I would be taking it reflecting upon it right now.

What would you "rewrite" - literally or figuratively? (going back to change how it came out/how you reacted to it?)

Things that you can react to *right now*: The Last Chance poll, closing tonight (Thursday) http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/788585.html

Also - the main competition topic: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/788789.html the deadline for which is actually a little earlier than the first link!

There is also the Home Game for those who want to play along: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/789542.html

A few words from [livejournal.com profile] clauderainsrm:

It’s Week 24. Do you know where your entries based on the topic “Cupertino effect” are?

If said, “Right here”, you would be correct.

Except of course, if you included [livejournal.com profile] flipflop_diva in that. Unfortunately, she has met the Real Life demon head on this week, and has become it’s latest victim.

She will definitely be missed, and I hope things clear up enough to play the Home Game, and continue to come around to hang out and cheer on her favorites!

Thanks so much for coming out this season!

As for the rest of you, there is still going to be a price to be paid to get a little closer to the goal.

That price is 2 contestants out of Redemption Tribe, and 3 from the main tribe. (for a total of 5 people leaving us)

So get out there and read, comment, and vote for your favorites, to keep them in the running!

The poll closes Tuesday, October 14th at 9pm EDT, so why are you hanging out staring at these words! Go click some links!

Good luck to everyone!

Unlike most Idol polls, with Last Chance, I have the opportunity to give some good news while I am handing out the bad. Some people are leaving LCI because they are being given the opportunity to move to the main competition - and some are being sent to the Home Game.

Because of this, I'm going to handle the eliminations first. It's bad news. But with a talented bunch like this, it's always going to be bad news.

There were supposed to be 3 contestants leaving this week, but there was a tie for that final spot. Under the circumstances, I'm NOT going to start Redemption this week though. So we are only losing two.

The people leaving this week are: [livejournal.com profile] boyfrond and [livejournal.com profile] deidrewilliams

I didn't expect to see either leaving so soon. :( But I hope that we will continue to see them in the Home Game.

Now the good news - there are 5 people who are eligible to "move up" to the main competition, as of Week 25. I say eligible because, if they wish, they can choose NOT to do so and stay in LCI for a little longer. But they have to email me at clauderainsrm@gmail.com within 24 hours to let me know. If I do not receive notification, I will assume you are moving up.

Those eligible are:
[livejournal.com profile] alephz, [livejournal.com profile] crisp_sobriety, [livejournal.com profile] medleymisty, [livejournal.com profile] n3m3sis43 and [livejournal.com profile] rattsu

Congratulations - and let me know your intentions!

It's not often that you get the chance to see someone grow - to go from the potential to actually getting out there and making their mark on the world.

This is someone that I feel like I got to meet just as he was putting those pieces together.

Perhaps he'd disagree with that. But that's how I see it, and that's how I'm choosing to remember it. ;)

The person he was seemed to be figuring some stuff out.

The man he is now - he's pretty remarkable.

You know him. You love him.

(some people haven't always felt that way over the years, but even the harshest critic has never doubted his talent)

You've been following his adventures!

He's the one, the only - the best friend of bees around the world - and the newest member of LJ IDOL'S 100 WEEKS CLUB:

In life, so much comes down to perspective.

Where we are. What we are doing. What direction we are facing.

It's been said that

"We are all in the gutter..."

and I believe that it's your topic for the week.

(because, it is!)

The deadline to link your entries back to this thread is Monday, October 13th at 8pm EDT

Have fun!

Welcome to the Work Room.

For some of you, from Last Chance Idol, you've never been here before. For others, it's old hat.

But here in this space, you are all in the same boat. Hopefully people in the main competition will come in as well (as I hope LCIers will show up in their Work Rooms as well) to give advice and bounce ideas with you.

That's what this space is all about. To help you figure things out.

Your topic has just been posted: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/791087.html

You are in a unique spot. You're in the competition, and yet staring in for just outside of the action. Like you have been unstuck in time. As LCI progresses, some will be eliminated and others will have a shot at moving up to "The Show". When you do that involves some strategy and relying on your instincts of when you want to jump into that pool to swim with the sharks.

Where is your head at with the topic?

What do you want to avoid?

What do your feel are your strengths as a writer, and most importantly, how are you using your time in LCI to give yourself a spotlight to catapult you to success within the main competition once you get there?

No, you aren't seeing double.

It was just one of those nights when you get in just before the deadline and keep working pretty much until everyone else is asleep. When you grab a couple snacks instead of dinner. It's the kind of night where you are looking at one shiny object and miss the other one that was staring you in the face the entire time.

Because it wasn't just one person who made their 100 Weeks today.

It most definitely wasn't.

What's funny is that in a competition where female contestants have won every single season (except a mini season where there was a tie and we ended with co-winners) and pretty much dominated the top 15 or so, we are gaining yet another male member of the 100 Weeks Club!

You know how I mentioned that even the critics of our last one admit that he's talented? I literally have no idea what this guy's critics say about him. Not a clue.

Because I don't know them.

I've seen people who have argued with him about specific things. But none, to the best of my knowledge, who have walked away disliking him.

Absolutely brilliant writer, and from everything I've ever seen, a top notched person.

Welcome to the club [livejournal.com profile] alephz!
