Immunity

What was at stake in the last poll?

Nothing less than immunity. Not personal immunity - but the ability to hand it out to someone else.

From now until The Top 75 these individuals that you have selected will have the one time power to save the person of their choice from being eliminated (and thus the person with the next fewest votes will go)!

How did you select these contestants who will be receiving this power? Well, in a way - you didn't. They were *the three contestants with the least number of votes, overall, from the current contestant base.

Now though the people getting the least amount of attention are stepping into the spotlight, with the power to save *you*. Bet they get attention now!!!!*G*

They can not use the power to save themselves - however they can use it to save each other if they want to do so.

The ultimate underdogs now have the power in their hands.

The contestants selected to be able to hand out immunity are:

It's a mixed blessing I know. But now is the time to make the best of it. Use it wisely.

(***edit to add: It was CLOSE, two votes going in a different direction could have had four completely different names here. Just showing once again the importance of supporting each other)

Oh, and since I seem to have missed the point on that: I prefer not to comment on things unless they were friends I had before this. That way I'm not really doing anything too out of the ordinary. I know this has been working against me, but I don't want people to vote for me just because I voted for them. That doesn't say anything about our writing, and I think it's more about our writing than anything else. And it's the only way I can make my ballot super-secret. :3

FWIW, I don't take a comment to automatically equate a vote (although there's a broad correlation between entries of mine that attract more comments and votes, it isn't hard and fast). I know some people have a policy of commenting on everything in an "I woz ere" kind of fashion, so I don't assume they've voted for me, whereas if I'm commenting, it's because someone's written something I feel I can actually comment on (I won't write "good entry" if I don't genuinely think that).

However, leaving a comment doesn't necessarily mean that I'm voting, it just means that something was said that I felt I wanted to respond to.

I love hearing about other people's attitudes towards commenting/voting/the competition. I don't think I've come across two people that have expressed *exactly* the same opinion, which is what makes it all the more fun.

There is extensive use of the "FWIW" abbreviation around here! I have noticed that!

But I agree with what you've said here, for the most part. But I can think something's "good" all day and still not comment on it. It has to really speak to me before I feel like I have to comment on it. So I might not comment on the best stuff, but I can connect to whatever it is I comment on. I feel like that's not making me any friends, but whatever.

And I always just assumed I was the only person who thought like I did - and maybe I am! I am glad to see that you've seen a mix of opinions, though. Makes me feel like a much smaller sore thumb. :)

Hey! My "FWIWs" long predate my Idol involvement. My *gs* on the other hand...

Oh I don't comment on everything I like. Don't have the time for a start. So people on my f-list are more likely to get a comment just because I see them earlier, whereas when I do a read through of the polls at the end of the week, I'm more likely to just vote and move on to the next entry - I'm not organised enough to do a read as entries are submitted.

I am totally the same way.

And I almost put a *g* in the entry I'm writing.

I had to stop myself.

That's pretty much my take, too. I've commented on quite a few posts that I didn't vote for, because my comments are about the content, but my votes are about the quality of the writing itself, regardless of content. The writing may be shit, but if I have a reaction to the content, I'm likely to comment. On the flip side, if I have nothing productive to say, I probably won't comment, but may vote for the post because it was written well. Make sense?

Totally and I'm very similar. One of my criteria for voting is "does it fit the topic" (which is why I switched entries this week - I felt the second entry was a better fit) and if it doesn't, I'm unlikely to vote. It could be a brilliant piece of writing, but I have a number of criteria that an entry has to meet and if it fails on one of them, it's going to have to do a lot better on the others if I'm still going to vote. That doesn't necessarily relate to my commenting, which can be, as you say, because I've felt something about the content rather than because I feel a vote is in order.

I don't vote for everyone to whom I leave a comment. And I don't comment to everyone for whom I'm casting a vote.

I still feel like sometimes it's expected to be an equal exchange, though. I just read (well, I read what I can, anyway) and make my votes. A couple of times something has spoken to me and I've made a comment with or without voting, though. I know I'm probably playing it differently from...erm...everyone. I may be an exception, you may be an exception. But at least we all play.

oh, don't over-think it...there was no real point, except to say I've noticed and enjoyed your entries, even if I'm too lazy to comment any more.
