THE LJ IDOL AFTER-PARTY/FRIENDING FRENZY!
Dec. 12th, 2006 11:41 amOne of the things I heard the most - and that brought a smile to my face every single time - is how many friends people made through LJ IDOL.
It got people to interact and find folks they might have otherwise missed and formed some new and hopefully lasting friendships in the process. Which was always part of the point of LJ IDOL. (well ok, that and keeping me off the streets and entertained!!!*g*)
So now that the season is over, and the next one won't be starting for awhile I was wondering "What can I do to keep that spirit alive?"
Then it hit me!
Every good show needs an After Party!!!
So why not come on in to our after party, mingle, introduce yourself around and make some new friends!! (and drag some of *your* friends along for the ride as well!)
The doors are now open and so is the bar! Come on in!!!

Date: 2006-12-12 04:50 pm (UTC)I am the "musical director" for LJ Idol (tootling away at what I'm hoping Gary will accept as the community's "theme song").
Am I the musical director? I think I just gave myself a title!

Date: 2006-12-12 06:00 pm (UTC)Hi, I'm Beldar and I hope to compete in the next round of LJ Idol (man I hope I don't become one of those ringers like they send in on the first few shows of American Idol who can't carry a tune in a bucket but get paraded in front of the trio of judges just for comic effect -- She Bangs! She Bangs!)
Anyway, oh, yeah, the Friending. My life and journal are a fairly open book, at least for now. Check out my LJ and userpage for details. I tend to friend people back, and while I don't often have time to comment, I try to read what folks have to say.

Date: 2006-12-12 06:21 pm (UTC)I didn't even notice I was on your f-list! LOL You couldn't have done that just now, did you? I checked as soon as you responded. Shows how observant I am. Do you read it, and shall I add you back? I see we have damn near everything in common.
I'm in the general vicinity of Asheville, btw. :)

Date: 2006-12-12 06:26 pm (UTC)I came to LJ Idol via a few different folks (
I LOVE theatre -- both of my degrees are in theatre. I currently work at a Jewish museum. I love movies, certain TV shows, reading, going to yummy restaurants, and generally hanging out with friends. I just bought a house and am in the process of moving in.
As for my journal, it can be boring sometimes, I'll be honest. But I do have some good entries about work and theatre and my wild and crazy family and friends.

~smiles~ I read. I'm inconsistant about reading, but I do read most of my f-list when I am reading.
BTW, that little redhead is absolutely adorable.
As for adding me back, that's entirely up to you.

Date: 2006-12-12 06:28 pm (UTC)Thanks for a great season! I found LJ Idol via
I'm thinking that next season I'll continue to read & vote but personally go into "LJ Idol training" and challenge myself to complete all of the challenges - without signing up. And then, if I can get into shape (find I can consistently write something I'm pleased with in the allotted time), I'll join the season after.
So - beyond my interest LJ-Idol - I'm a 36-year-old NYer, recently transplanted (along with Hubby & Puppy) to the Bay Area of California.
I'm an odd combination of outgoing but shy so I'm gonna go sit by the fire with a hot cider & soak up the atmosphere. Plus, I'm at work & can't really participate until I get home tonight.
