We are taking Caroline to the school to be evaluated for her placement in kindergarten. And yeah I am nervous. She"s a smart kid but, like all 5 year olds, can get bored with tests.

I think other than that I am trying to stay out of the heat.

I actually remember going for a placement when I was seven years old. They put me in a board room with way too many paintings on the walls, which were immensely distracting to me (because I was taking art classes at the MMA and all I wanted to do was talk about the paintings). Fortunately, my parents were very aware and had them redo my test in more of a classroom setting, where I was much more used to focusing!

You know how much easier it is to read and comment when it is only 3 essays?

What I am amazed by is the very distinctive voices of the three finalists. Each has a different way of writing and expressing what they want to say.

It's kind of nice that it is this way because it shows no favoritism to a certain type of writing or writer.

I was just thinking that last night. I finished my own, went back and read the other two, and said, "wait, I'm done reading? How can that be?" Of course, it should give people an opportunity to go back and read some of the most recent set of 16 if they didn't get to finish last time!

It is so nice and cool this morning, I am going to sneak out and run some errands before the streets warm up. By nice and cool I mean 80F. Amazing how our perspectives change, isn't it.

There are three unique FINAL THREE entries - and I bet that if we posted snippets you could guess which snippet went to which writer.

Kinda cool, really.

Anyway, I am outta here for a while.

I just went outside to pack up my car for the day and wow! It's nice out! In that my dress is not sticking to me after five minutes outside. Yay!

That said, I'm not dumb. I'm wearing a lovely sundress for my day out selling houses. I looked at the suit I had planned for today and shuddered at what it would mean around noon.

Oh, it's somewhat nice right now, but you can feel the humidity. It starts at the top of the head and oozes downward until it drips off your fingers and toes *shudder*

We had a crazy storm last night and many are without electric today. The first rains hitting my house sounded more like someone trying to break in the door. Freaked me out, for sure!

*Dealt with a temper tantrum in the car.
*Had to leave the car at my in-laws because the belts are shredded.
*Walked to get a taxi in a long-sleeved black turtleneck and jacket in 98% humidity.
*Got to work an hour late.
*Forgot my damn lunch and breakfast home.
*I can't have any coffee because my GED is acting up.

And I only have three more entries to read in Idol. Boo.

Other than that, it's a normal work day.

It was already 87 when I left my house at 8:30 to catch the bus downtown. The humidity is already off the charts. Just walking down my hill and standing at the corner was enlough to make me feel icky.
It should be a quiet day today. I just have to figure out lunch.

It's currently 95 degrees and heat index of 109 ... in NEW ENGLAND. Yikes!! All the schools are doing early release because of the heat.

I'm staying put in front of the fan that's blowing in the air conditioner air from the bedroom. Or maybe just throwing in the towel and retreating to the bedroom!

It was wonderful out when I got up, showered and started the coffee. Supposed to warm up pretty good here later in the day.

The final three entries are awesome. It was commented that each one was completely different. I totally agree in a wonderfully good way.
