The town of Cohasset California and the surrounding areas need your help.  *Looks around* Well, maybe not YOUR help... but they definitely need assistance.

And no, I have not changed my name to Cohasset and incorporated myself into being a town.

Here are a series of links for how you can give and make a difference in their efforts to rebuild. They say it takes a village... in this case, it takes a global community to rebuild a village.  linktr.ee/rebuildcohasset

What are YOU doing this weekend? What have been your favorite entries this week that might not be getting the attention you think they deserve?

All my weekends are basically the same-- trying to make decisions related to rebuilding our house. I'm so sick of it, and I really feel for the people who lost their homes in the Park fire. They have it much worse than we did.

On a happier note, my favorite entry this week is [personal profile] fausts_dream's. So unexpected and off the wall, with a great narrative voice. I want to read more in that universe!

I’m done with reading and voting. There’s always tons of great entries that it’s hard not to vote for all of them!

Currently hubby and I are chilling and watching various YouTube videos, but I’m heading to the grocery shortly. I’ve been making meals (casseroles mostly) these past few Sundays to bring to my 93 year old MIL. This week she wants veggie beef soup, hence the grocery run. I’ll make enough for hubby and I to have some too.

As far as favorite entries, it was fun accidentally “twinning” my entry with [personal profile] erulissedances and with [personal profile] flipflop_diva! I also enjoyed [personal profile] aggienaut’s entry about honey because it was both fun and educational!

I haven’t read enough to say which ones are my favorite, I hope to remedy that this weekend but I’m struggling a bit with it. Being on steroids, I can’t sit still for long. The good news is I’ve been very productive around the house and running errands.

It’s going to be super hot here this weekend, the hottest day we’ve seen so far on Monday, so the plan is to stay inside as much as possible. We have AC (a portable unit we only use in the living room during the day) but much of France does not.

There were so many fantastic entries this week. Here are a few of the ones who should be getting more attention.

[personal profile] drippedonpaper's entry is about the garden of life, and the struggles a parent goes through deciding what, when, and how to cultivate their charges. One of my favorite parts was, "I must turn my face to the sun and put my hands back into the dirt. Some cycles are over. I can't cry for endings. Life is only in beginnings." Very true and very well expressed.

I'm not sure what it was about Oubaitori that sparked thoughts of twins, but there were a few entries on that topic this week. [personal profile] flipflop_diva's entry was cool because her two kids started out that way, but were actually born more than two years apart. I like how she worked that idea into her piece, speculated about what life as twins would've been like for her kids, and told us about their unique characteristics all in one entry.

[personal profile] hafnia wrote about expectations that parents place on their kids, and how sometimes statements like "you aren't doing that right," or "you'll never be a success" never go away. It's a tough topic, but handled so adeptly with humor throughout that I found myself constantly smiling. "When I graduate from college, my granddad comes out to see me walk. He's proud of me for wearing sensible shoes, and the look my mom gives him when he says it could cut glass."

[personal profile] pixiebelle wrote about becoming a teacher for little kids. Picture this, it's your first day walking into the classroom, and "One little boy named Owen started screaming as soon as he looked at me. He had to be ushered from the room and comforted, I scared him that much." That's just the beginning though. The entry is great because of all the challenges like that they overcome, but also because of all the different kiddos and their own personalities and quirks we learn about.

[personal profile] swirlsofpurple's entry is about a scientist's obsession with recreating a lost fruit. Plums, or maybe plooms ? LOL It's a wonderful entry because there's so much more however. It's composed of vignettes that not only describe the scientist's obsession, but the growing love between the scientist and their partner, the birth of their child, successes and failures in the lab, the growing strain on their relationship, and so much more.

I encourage you to read and vote for all of these excellent pieces.

Dan

I enjoyed [personal profile] swirlsofpurple's entry best. I also really enjoyed [personal profile] drippedonpaper and [personal profile] pixiebelle's. I hope we all make it through another week, tbh. The competition is stiff. I am trying to make peace with maybe going out this week, but I'm not sorry I told the story I told. I think we all have great and amazing perspectives and entries this week!

I've got a big job interview process happening Monday and Tuesday and have been locked away preparing for that. Monday is where I get a topic and have one hour to develop a presentation. This could be unnerving, but it's the story of my life so I'm pretty ok with that and have been assembling all kinds of documents and materials that might be useful to refer to. The interview is on Tuesday, in which I will have time to give the presentation and then face questions on that and then there will be up to 4 questions in the STAR format against a set of competencies and my friends and I have a running list of questions we've been asked in other interviews to prepare answers against and I've been working on that. Not very exciting stuff.

Well, thank goodness for that! Because as interviews go, that sounds very daunting!

Good luck next week!

Cause my week wasn't rough enough, my weekend was hell. The less ever said the better as I will be attempting to make it as if it never happened to begin with. Circumstances though set me in where I haven't even read any entries this week yet. So I'm gonna do that since I do not have to leave super early on Monday (but Mother does have one more session).

I really hope the next prompts and my brain allow me to create entries you all love in the future.
