Results - Week 13

It's a Literary Street Fight, and it's only getting more difficult every week.


I said that there would be 3 contestants leaving us, and that announcement (and your votes) have put us in the place for this announcement.


The Jury played its role, selecting someone for immunity. Once again, it came down to a single vote.

They decided to make song_of_thea  safe this week.

Which means that those going home this week (Well, joining the Jury that will help decide the fate of the rest of this season) are:

fausts_dream 
and
murielle  (who sacrificed so that others might continue)


Thank you so much to both of you. I say this all the time "thank you for making this season special", but both of you absolutely deserve those words, and much much more.

You notice that is only two names, and I promised three... that is because that immunity threw that third spot into a 4-way tie.

Which means there will be a Sudden Death Write-Off!

Facing off are kimschlotwrites , static_abyss , wolfden and zedmanauk  !

The Topic is, as usual, are Open Topic. (you can write anything you want) and the deadline to link your entries back to the thread I will be starting below, is tomorrow, Jan 29th at 9pm EST.

I am going to use my golden ticket bye. That wasn’t actually my plan but I ended up needing steroid injections in my jaw today and extra muscle relaxants and a massive headache so writing not a thing that would go well.

I am sorry to see both of you leave, but I am especially sorry to have Murielle sacrifice. Had she not sacrificed, she would, I believe, had made it to the next round. You both are excellent writers.

With all due respect to those remaining - but if this mini season was going to have a "Spirit of the season" winner, I think it's fair to say that the frontrunner is gone.

I have been moved by fausts dreams entries. The honest brutality and the economy of presentation have made for deep and thought-provoking work.

There were times when I would read his work (faust) and it felt like a gut punch. Just raw honesty being put out there. I've always liked his stuff, but it feels like he's tapping into a new level.

Murielle, my dear, it's absolutely tough to see you go, but so happy to have had a chance to read all you wrote, and hope to continue to read more from you in the future on your regular LJ or DW account. You have such a talent for story telling. I hope you take good care, and know how much we all love and respect you!

I am bummed to see both these writers go :/. I enjoyed reading them this season.I couldn't read and vote this week because my computer conked off and it just got repaired (Also the problem with keeping your passwords saved, is forgetting them :P)

Thanks for the kind words. I wouldn't have voted for my entry this week, as writing it was subpar. But I wrote it mid crisis and it (and your comments) helped me to pull out, which is even more useful to me than continuing in the contest.

I agree with those who say Murielle represents the best of what this contest can be.

You've had SUCH a strong season-- it has been great to see the variety and quality of what you've written, whether it has been satire, political essay, or hard emotional truth.

I hope things will start looking up a bit for you soon, and that you'll keep us posted either way. Do you think you might do any basic journaling over here at DW? I have you friended at LJ, but I'll add you here in case you feel like posting non-Idol stuff. :)

Again, I'm so sorry you sacrificed, but I truly understand why. I wish it weren't necessary, but you're the best judge of what you need to take care of you, and it seems more rest and less pressure would really help right now.
