I'm completely and utterly underwater at work. I took over a job a couple weeks ago - back when I started there were 4 people doing it. Then there were 3 when we shifted the work load. A year or so ago there were 2 of us. But the newest member of the team threw a tantrum and threatened to quit if she wasn't taken off that work (because she was "too overwhelmed" to handle it)and of course we don't have anyone else who is able to take any more work? So guess who ends up with it all? You guessed it.... he's typing in this Green Room right now!

I'd threaten to quit too but (1) I know there isn't anyone else who can take the workload (2) We have a new person who is supposed to start in a couple weeks who will eventually be trained to help out. (3) I can't threaten to do something I'm not prepared to do.

I look forward to going back to the only thing annoying me being Idol contestants, which is the way it *should* be!

Your work situation sounds pretty horrible. But a paycheck is a paycheck, especially in these times. :(

I am sorry to hear about your work. It makes me appreciate all the time and effort you put into Idol even more, so here's a big THANK YOU. The problem with threatening to quit is, as you say, you need to be able to follow through on it, which means finding a new job. There are no good options.

Ughh, that sounds miserable. I hope it starts getting better soon.

And definitely echoing rayaso that I super appreciate all the time you put into Idol, especially when you're so busy elsewhere. It's amazing that you do this, but I am really, really thankful that you do!

Gary, I feel for you on the “oh look, my efficiency and positivity has led to the reward of being the guy who gets to DO ALL THE THINGS now” front. I hope you’re at least in a situation where you can be open with your management about your thoughts. I’ve found that even if they can’t fix workload issues, having the sometimes painful conversations makes it feel better facing each day.

Also, how is it already Thursday! Dagnabbit I was gonna try to read everything before the vote this week!

Seriously, though, sorry about the work crap. My husband was in a similar position these last few weeks, and it really sucks getting everything landed in your lap. Good luck with it all and hope it eases up soon!

You know I love you. I'm so sorry you're underwater on work! Jer's ALWAYS the same way! He's about ready to kill the people at NetSuite. ;D He's got a team of 9 women, but they're AMAZING. Always. And he's teaching them as quick as they'll soak up what he's got to pass on! He says they call him Bosley. I see a nameplate in his future! ;D
