It's the last day of voting - so if you have any recommendations - make them now for those last minute voters, or forever hold your peace: https://therealljidol.dreamwidth.org/999752.html

Well, OK, you don't have to FOREVER hold your peace - you can still suggest that folks check things out, it's just the last chance for you to do that and have any influence over the poll!

Voting is awfully tight. There's actually not a huge gap between the bottom and top of the poll, so really anything can, and may, still happen!

***

Today is the finale of Australian Survivor! It's already aired, but I haven't had the chance to watch it yet. I'd highly recommend it to anyone with access to (and interest in) such things.

***

Speaking of recommendations, I promised myself that this mini season that I'd do more suggestions (AKA unpaid advertising) for stuff that I like.

Or in this case, something Cynthia is into right now - pens!

If you have any interest in pens and aren't already familiar with https://www.gouletpens.com/ you should check them out. It's a great resource for fountain pens, inks and other accessories. (and believe me, it's a wormhole that you will never climb out of)

They have a lot of informative videos and blogs to guide people through the world of pens. You should check them out if you're not already in thrall to them.

I'm stealing all the cookies before Gary steals em.

Also got a lot on my mental, personal plate. Actually most of it pertaining to new life issues in which I must actually live my entry for this week again. This is what life is though. Just as I think things are building, they fall and I must be like Spider-Man or Superman and just hold it together or everyone gets crushed, myself included.

In other news, here's three new released version of the Beatles' Back in the U.S.S.R:
An instrumental backing track (take 5):

This took me back. I remember getting my new copy of The White Album when it came out for 5.99 Canadian.

I'm not understanding why [personal profile] hwango and [personal profile] swirlsofpurple don't have more votes. :( Both are superb writers and both are tantalizing us with promises of wicked stories and thought-provoking non-fiction, respectively. I'm hoping to read weeks and weeks of their work.

Whoa, uh, those writing tools are $$$. But so gorgeous and temptatious. I do love a good pen and highly recommend TUL -

I fell a little behind on community posts and such, and just saw this. Thanks so much for the publicity! That was very kind of you.

Snowing.

So, so impressed with so many entries this week. Strong writing!

I'm not really a pen person. I mean I have a bunch, even a fountain pen that was a gift from my uncle that's engraved and everything, but my handwriting is SO awful my preferred writing instrument is the mechanical pencil. I feel I have more control with a pencil, and my writing does look better. I have entire journals and notebooks in pencil. Though, I don't expect anyone will be able to read them (and why would they want to?) when I'm gone.

I'm on pins and needles for the next prompt. Just saying. :-)

I finished reading (and commenting, mostly!).

Stuff I liked...

[personal profile] katespencer1 wrote about depression/anxiety in a way that feels painfully familiar.

[personal profile] kimschlotwrites gave a really great look at what mental illness really looks like.

[personal profile] mac_arthur_park's piece was just great -- I liked reading about her "platonic boyfriend", Pete.

[personal profile] megatronix gave us a story about a rescue dog that was utterly adorable.

[personal profile] onecheapdate's piece made me a little teary, and it's definitely worth a read!

I'm looking forward to the new topic. I should have more time to write this week, and I'm excited to push myself to do something new!

You're quite welcome! I really enjoyed your depiction of MI -- it's something that a lot of people aren't comfortable writing about, and you did admirably!

It is incredibly humbling to be included on this list. I'm also dancing in my seat because it never stops feeling amazing and rewarding to have someone read something you wrote and want to share it with others. Thank you so much for the mention!

You are very welcome! You took the prompt in a completely different direction from a lot of people, and wrote something that was sweet and sad and rang true. I was happy to read it and want to encourage others to do so, too!

I'm behind on my reading; I apologize. I'm on a business trip and had a - pretty bad incident occur late last night. Today was going to be my reading/final voting day, but if I don't, I truly do apologize and will keep up next week (if I am worthy to make it through)! Thanks for understanding. Let's just say that unknowingly drinking Ethanol (the chemical solvent, not drinking alcohol) mixed with a date-rape drug wasn't a planned part of the business trip experience. :/

But I will do a better job of reading/replying next week (again, if I should make it through). <3

Up late reading last night, and down to < 5 more now. Going away for the weekend the first week made the reading process very not awesome!

Ah, pens. My handwriting is on such a doomed spiral to nowhere, though still more legible than some people's. All I can say is that a good ballpoint helps things along, and the roller-gel or whatever it is that makes everyone's printing look like chicken scratches is the work of the devil himself. :O

Ahh, fountain pens. If only alexpgp were still here to comment. He was a huge fan of such. We miss you Alex, in more ways than you would have expected.
