Green Room - Week 1 - Day 8

The sad part of any week is losing someone to elimination.

It's really difficult at the end, but it's really rough at the start as well - because really anything can happen. Someone might not have their feet yet. They could still be figuring things out. I've seen some strong writers go out in the first couple of weeks just because no one got around to reading them yet.

Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast that needs to be fed.

But there's a way to make sure that YOUR favorites don't get eaten - TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THEM!

What have you read that really stood out to you this week? Especially if it's from someone you've never read before!

The writing has been very strong, especially for the first week. I'm still reading, with many entries to go. Good luck to everyone!

I'm about half way through. Plugging along. There are a lot of great entries so far. I'm glad voting isn't limited. I don't think I could narrow things down very easily.

I'm back (went out of town this weekend), so I've barely started reading the entries! Hoping to speed through them by the deadline. :O

Halfway through reading! Going to vote when I'm all done. Haven't told anyone about the poll, mostly because I don't think I know anyone I'm comfortable showing my writing to who knows me in real life! Suppose that might have to change. :)

I always worried about letting my real life people read my writing, but this year I decided "screw that" and posted the poll link to my social media sites where most of them hang out. However, I'm pretty sure no one will read anyway. LOL! (I don't think any of them know what Live Journal or Dreamwidth are except those I've friended over the years that I've met here.)

I'm trying to be more ME than the me I've always been expected to be.

I've tried to share writing before. It, ah, hasn't gone well. (Being roundly mocked by the family and whatnot, you know...)

Maybe this time will be different. :)

Ugh. I'm not thinking much of your friends and family, if that's the case. :(

I don't share my stuff outside of my journals, since RL and online are separate for me, so this doesn't come into it so much. ;)

Only by the family! The friends are pretty great (most of them also write and I'm a member of some small writers circles on Facebook and the like).

My family is something else. We're not very close due to a variety of reasons (the fact that most of them are staunch Republicans and I'm not is only the tip of the iceberg). I don't take it personally. :)

I want to read everyone! But Dragonswimmer and I are preparing to evacuate before this dang hurricane instead. Wish us luck, this is going to be crazy next 72 hours or so.

I love the folksy tale that sonreir spun!

alycewilson wrote a funny story about an inanimate object that never quits. XD

And bleodswean wrote a haunting, sorrowful piece that has really stayed with me.
