My poor Max Dog. He's now refusing not only to take his Lyme meds, but he's also refusing to eat because he thinks you've put his meds in the food even though you haven't.

Last night was a horror show with the "sit him dow, pry open his mouth, toss 'em in" dance. This morning it wasn't much better :(

I was pondering this yesterday, as I have been taking a variety of bad tasting medicines for a while now, that at least I know why and what the expected results are and can reason myself into it. So I don't spit out the gross new cough syrup, even though I considered it.

But for young kids or pets without the capacity to understand - it would be so difficult.

Oh god, last night, though, we had a breakthrough: He won't take the pills if it tastes like his regular food/treats. We mooshed them in some canned tuna with a little mayo, and he ate all but one half, and that was only because it'd strayed from the tuna. He wouldn't touch it for anything. This med also has appetite loss as a side effect, so getting him to eat ANYTHING is a whole other chapter :headdesk:

Oakley's really good at taking pills. Our malamutes were like Max but once you explained to them why they had to take stuff, they'd do it but would make it into a dramatic ordeal.

I hate stressing him out more than he already is. We're going to go through the whole thing again this morning :(

Thanks. We've discovered that wet dog food also works as long as it's slightly warmed so it's stinky, LOL.

That is exactly what all of my dogs were like when they needed meds! If it was mixed with their food they'd not touch it, but inserted into cubes of cheese and they'd gobble it up :O

Cheese was one of the first things we tried. It didn't work. Now he won't even take a slice of it, never mind a square. Ditto meatballs, his regular food, even pizza crust :(

That's actually kind of similar to one of my dogs - the cheese did work with him, but when he was well again, he would not touch it ever again. The others were fine with it, but he just wouldn't eat it for anything.

"No longer on fire" seems like a good goal for the day.

I have new, more targeted, cough medication in two forms, and only woke myself up coughing once last night so that's a win.

Now I have to research how to bring prescription cough syrup on a plane. I'm really not excited about visiting the home office for the audit next week.

In happier news the brand new to me Dr I saw yesterday was entirely awesome.

I am seriously considering getting a few of the paper medical masks. I'm not contagious, but still sound pretty ugly so it would at least show willing in the airport and on the plane.

My aunt got into trouble in Mexico for refusing to remove her mask when asked to do so. They were there during the Zeka scare and she just would not remove her mask. Consequently, they were seated at the very back on the plane. Now me, I love that seat. First served goodies, close to the washrooms, and I have been told it's the safest area of the plane. And this is apropos to nothing.

I think it is very considerate of you to wear a mask. My aunt, also apropos of nothing, is a Taurus. LOL!

Well I would be wearing the mask mostly to avoid the dirty looks I get when a coughing jag hits, so I won't mind taking it off.

But I like the back of the plane too, easier to get up and move around back there. Also, I am an Aquarius (you know, since it came up).

I know for open topics in the past I've just used "open" as the prompt, to give myself a something to start from.

"Open Topic" are two words I hate to see in combination. :)

You can use any of the topics from the main competition that you've missed, or go back to previous seasons for topics (see the 'topic' keyword in the side margin) and just pick one that resonates.
