Green Room - Week 11 - Day 7
Mar. 13th, 2017 11:47 amThe last few days have been great for my movie-watching. First we saw Moonlight and then last night it was Get Out.
Saying that both are "completely amazing" probably undersells them.
There's a lot to be said for films where you can just go in and completely escape. But there's something special when the story can be used to make you think, and talk about, deeper issues for hours, and days, after the fact.

The poll closes tomorrow, so make sure to get your votes in! http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/991458.html
The Second Chance topic is also waiting for them: http://therealljidol.livejournal.com/991512.html

Date: 2017-03-13 11:53 pm (UTC)Although, I have to say that a few weeks back I stumbled across The Exorcist on a local channel...and it's just not the same in the middle of a slow weekend day with commercials and hi-def set. YMMV.

Date: 2017-03-13 05:09 pm (UTC)I have to gas up my car. Oh, and I was scheduled to help our Pizza Store Owner friend paint this afternoon but I haven't heard from him.

Date: 2017-03-13 07:37 pm (UTC)We only have street parking and our hose is on a snow emergency route, which pretty much means I park my car and it stays there until the snow melts enough for me to dig it out.
We've got food, wine, and jigsaw puzzles. Bring it on, blizzard. Bring it on.

Date: 2017-03-13 05:13 pm (UTC)Also watched Inferno. I started the book a while back and got distracted. One thing I will say about Dan Brown is that he knows how to create a very reliable rollercoaster ride for his readers. Not the brightest read, one can easily figure out the mysteries long before they are "revealed", but it's an enjoyable fast-paced race to the finish. Howard's movie is equally fast, but I honestly spent the first ten minutes wondering what on earth was wrong with Tom Hank's face. Whatever he had done it was disturbing.
Also watched Me Before You. Don't know why. Romantic comedy is usually at the bottom of my list. Oh yeah, Daenerys Targaryen. I laughed, I cried. It was actually pretty good for a romantic comedy.

They should have stopped at one movie.
