We are losing some dear friends this week - old and new. Real life definitely is the enemy. I hope that those who continue to struggle against it week after week can keep up that fight! It’s worth it in the end, knowing that you go out swinging.

On the other hand, this might be a “good week” to go out because it’s the last chance to get into Second Chance Idol. Hopefully that is what these people are doing! If not, I really hope they are considering it… and even if they decide they can’t, that they continue to stick around to support their favorites, submit entries for the Home Game, and help shape the rest of this season!

So before we get to anything else, goodbye to our Drops:

Yes for real this time! I procrastinated a bit, and thought I'd write up my entry today. Instead my body said, "Now seems like the right time for a stomach flu!" I spent the morning in the bathroom and 12-7pm in bed. Rough times, people!

I don't understand how the gifting works. Another contestant was keeping up with the number of this writer's byes and anonymously granted them one? Would it have been in my interest to declare a bye in order to advertise my endangered status to potential gift-givers?

Declaring byes when you don't have them will just (1) confuse me - which it did and (2) get you eliminated because you were out of byes. This is one of those weird right place/right time situations that I think 99% of the time would have worked out differently.

There are people who *do* keep up with the number of byes people have left (they need hobbies. :D). This was a case of where someone had said "if so and so ever needed a bye...use one of mine if I still have it." They did. So it was used.

If you need a bye, I'd definitely put the word out in the Green/Work rooms - you never know when you might get lucky.
